Totapuri farmers urged to refrain from immature harvesting
Annamayya District Joint Collector Adarsh Rajendran on Saturday appealed to Totapuri mango farmers to stay away from harvesting immature fruits, while reiterating that the government would continue to work for their welfare. He visited the mango market yard at Railway Koduru of Rajampeta division. Interacting with farmers and commission agents, Mr. Rajendran said that the State government had fixed ₹4 per kg for Totapuri mangoes meant for the pulp industries. He said that around 2,630 hectares in Koduru and Rajampet have Totapuri mango plantations, with a projected yield of 22,000 metric tonnes. He said that so far, about 8,115 MT had been procured under subsidy, and another 8,000 MT would be procured soon. Later, the Joint Collector inspected the Varsha Mango Juice Factory near Railway Kodur.

19,000 rice bags supplied to government schools, welfare hostels in Annamayya district: Joint Collector
The Annamayya district administration has commenced the distribution of quality rice to all government schools and welfare hostels under the PM Poshan–Dokka Seethamma Mid-Day Meal scheme from Thursday, following the reopening of schools. Speaking to the media, District Joint Collector Adarsh Rajendran said that around 19,000 rice bags weighing 25 kg each have already supplied to as many as 2,009 government schools and 171 welfare hostels across the district. 'To strictly curb the menace of diversion of the stocks and to maintain transparency, the rice bags are equipped with QR codes and GPS tracking system. Scanning the code will display details such as the source farmer and the mill. Issues about the quality of rice can be traced forthwith and such gaps be filled with technology,' he said. The Joint Collector also prompted a live demonstration of the QR code scan module during the media briefing, at the Collectorate here. Senior officials from the departments of Revenue, Civil Supplies, Panchayat Raj, and Education took part in the meeting.

Over 5,000 participate in yoga camp at Madanapalle
District Collector Sridhar Chamakuri inaugurated an impressive yoga camp at BT College Grounds on Wednesday. Over 5,000 yoga enthusiasts from across the Annamayya district attended the camp. The event was held under the government's flagship initiative, 'Yogandhra.' Addressing the participants, the Collector said that integrating yoga into daily life helps protect one's health, but it also guides a person to adopt a disciplined regime in social, personal, and professional life. 'Make yoga a regular part of your daily routine. It not only boosts the physical stamina of the practitioner but also sharpens mental clarity,' the Collector said. Highlighting the increase in lifestyle diseases like diabetes, hypertension, and various disorders due to a lack of physical activity. The Collector said: 'The world is advancing rapidly, and our dietary habits are deteriorating. We need to incorporate fitness into our daily regime, be it yoga, walking, any sport, or a game.' Referring to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Collector stressed the importance of maintaining strong immunity. He asked senior citizens and women to visit the public parks in Madanapalle for morning walks and yoga. He instructed the local police to create safe environs for morning walkers, particularly women. 'If necessary, we can even create separate grounds for women,' he said. The Collector congratulated Joint Collector Adarsh Rajendran, Sub Collector Megha Swaroop, and the HoDs of various departments for meticulous planning and execution of the event.

Role of veterinarians hailed at World Veterinary Day in Rayachoti
Veterinarians play a crucial role in the development of the dairy sector and strengthening of living standards of the dairy farmers, Annamayya district Joint Collector Adarsh Rajendran said. Speaking at the World Veterinary Day celebrations at the PGRES Hall here on Saturday (April 26), the Joint Collector highlighted the duties and responsibilities of the veterinarians, saying that beyond treating animals, they also serve the community through critical services like artificial insemination, surgeries, vaccinations, and emergency care in the villages. 'Veterinarians are the lifeline of the dairy sector. Honoring them and recognising their services remain the responsibility of all in society,' Mr. Rajendran said. District Revenue Officer (DRO) D. Madhusudhan Rao termed veterinarians 'frontline warriors for public health', saying that healthy livestock always impacts rural community's economic progress. 'I initially aspired to become a veterinarian, but joined the revenue services, though I still cherish the dream, and I love the cattle to match it,' he said. Joint Director (Animal Husbandry) Gunasekhar Pillai underlined the theme of the year 2025-26 — 'Animal Health Takes a Team.' He observed that a nation's moral standing is reflected in its treatment of animals. Speakers at the event further called for better sanitation facilities in veterinary hospitals. They highlighted the emotional support animals provide, especially in the absence of joint families. Officials from the Animal Husbandry department of Madanapalle, Rajampet, and Rayachoti subdivisions attended the programme.
