Georgia Tech Baseball Lands Top Transfers to Supercharge 2025 Lineup

Georgia Tech Baseball Lands Top Transfers to Supercharge 2025 Lineup originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A New Era is Brewing on the Flats. The buzz is back at Russ Chandler Stadium. Georgia Tech baseball is making noise, but not just with returning stars, but with a trio of transfer portal additions that could push the Jackets into national contention next spring. Advertisement Head coach James Ramsey, known for his sharp eye for talent and relentless recruiting, has reeled in three transfers. It's a statement to the rest of the ACC: Georgia Tech isn't waiting around. They're coming. Ryan Zuckerman: A Power Surge from Pittsburgh The biggest headline? Pittsburgh slugger Ryan Zuckerman, who committed to the Jackets on Monday. A third baseman with a heavy bat and a proven track record, Zuckerman hit .295 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs last season, leading the Panthers in both categories. His presence in the middle of a lineup that already returns Drew Burress, Alex Hernandez, and Caleb Daniel turns a dangerous offense into one of the most feared in college baseball. His on-base percentage (.382) and slugging (.555) show a well-rounded hitter ready to thrive in Atlanta's hitter-friendly park. For a team that ranked among the ACC's top five in runs scored last season, Zuckerman could be the final piece to an Omaha-level lineup. Sophomore outfielder Drew Burress mashes a home run versus Cal during the ACC Tournament Tech Baseball/X Justin Shadek: A Fresh Start on the Mound From Rutgers comes right-hander Justin Shadek, a redshirt freshman with flashes of brilliance and plenty of room to grow. He went 4-5 in 15 appearances with the Scarlet Knights, recording 52 strikeouts but also posting a 7.78 ERA. Advertisement The raw numbers might not scream dominance, but the upside is clear. Shadek has swing-and-miss stuff and experience as a starter in a Power Five program. Ramsey has a reputation for developing arms, and Shadek may be the kind of under-the-radar addition who thrives with better defense, coaching, and run support in Atlanta. Cade Brown: The Local Star Returns Home Perhaps the most intriguing name is Cade Brown, a former Georgia Bulldog who brings elite high school credentials back to the Peach State's capital. Though he played in just 15 games as a freshman in Athens (.171 average, 1 HR), Brown was a prep phenom. He batted .472 with 14 home runs as a senior, earned the MaxPreps Georgia Player of the Year, and was rated the No. 1 third baseman in Georgia by Perfect Game. Advertisement Now under Ramsey's guidance, Brown's return to form could give Tech another high-ceiling bat—and extra motivation against the team he left behind. The Takeaway: Georgia Tech Is Reloading, Fast With Zuckerman's power, Shadek's upside, and Brown's potential, Georgia Tech isn't rebuilding, they're reloading. These additions, paired with a stacked returning core, make it clear: Ramsey and the Yellow Jackets are chasing championships, not just headlines. The road to Omaha starts now. Are you ready? Clemson freshman announces transfer portal destination, joins Big 12 program

Clemson freshman announces transfer portal destination, joins Big 12 program A former Clemson Tiger has found his new home for the 2026 college baseball season. TP Wentworth, who appeared in 26 games for the Tigers during his freshman season in 2025 and made 12 starts, announced in a post to Instagram late Wednesday that he was transferring to Oklahoma State in the Big 12. Wentworth started in right field for Clemson down the stretch, beginning with the Tigers' final regular season series at Pittsburgh on May 16 and through all four games of the ACC Tournament in Durham. He batted .220 with three doubles and seven RBIs in 26 games. On the mound, Wentworth appeared in 11 games and tossed nine innings, allowing eight runs on 10 hits for an 8.00 ERA while striking out eight batters and walking five. Wentworth was one of two former Clemson players to announce new destinations for the 2026 season on Wednesday. Left-hander Ethan Darden, who spent the past three seasons with the team, announced his commitment to Texas A&M earlier in the day. Charlie Ward, Florida A&M nabs Florida State assistant

The post Charlie Ward, Florida A&M nabs Florida State assistant appeared first on ClutchPoints. New Florida A&M head basketball coach Charlie Ward is quickly making his impression on his new Rattlers team as he has hired former Florida State assistant Jarrod Lazarus to his coaching staff, per a release by the athletic department. Advertisement 'Jarrod Lazarus is the perfect addition as Associate Head Coach at Florida A&M. His leadership, passion for the game, and dedication to developing young talent will elevate the program,' said Ward in a statement. Lazaurus expressed his excitement to join the coaching staff, saying, 'I'm thrilled to join Florida A&M Men's Basketball and be part of such a historic program. I would like to thank Head Coach Charlie Ward for this amazing opportunity. I look forward to working with the team, embracing the culture, and helping take this program to new heights.' Lazaurus earned a B.S. in Business Management from Florida State University in 2009 and completed his MBA in Business Administration at Middle Tennessee State University in 2016. Lazarus most recently served as an Assistant Coach at Florida State University under Leonard Hamilton. Prior to that, he spent five seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations for Hamilton and his staff. During his time with the Seminoles, Lazarus helped lead FSU to the Sweet 16 of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, the championship game of the 2021 ACC Tournament, and the 2020 ACC Championship. Advertisement In 2020, he played a key role in leading the Seminoles to their first-ever ACC Regular Season Championship. The team achieved a 26-5 overall record and an impressive 16-4 in ACC play, setting a new school record for ACC wins in a single season. They ended the season ranked No. 4 in the final Associated Press poll, the highest final ranking in school history. Florida State was poised to secure one of the top NCAA Tournament seeds before the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That year also saw Patrick Williams (No. 4, Chicago Bulls) and Devin Vassell (No. 11, San Antonio Spurs) become the first pair of Seminoles selected in the NBA Draft Lottery. He now joins a Florida A&M team that looks to continue its ascent to contenders in the SWAC, led by Ward in his first season with the program. Clemson softball makes another big move in the transfer portal landing Abby Dunning

Clemson softball makes another big move in the transfer portal landing Abby Dunning Clemson softball continues to make moves in the transfer portal, this time strengthening its pitching rotation with a key addition. Boston College graduate transfer Abby Dunning announced her commitment to the Tigers on Sunday, becoming the latest offseason portal pickup for head coach John Rittman's program. Dunning, a right-handed pitcher, is rated as a four-star transfer by Softball America and entered the 2025 season as one of the top arms in the country. She was ranked No. 30 on the College Sports Evaluators' Preseason Top-50 Pitchers list but saw limited action last season due to an early injury, making only five appearances. Before her senior-year setback, Dunning had a standout junior season in 2024. She went 14-14 over 33 appearances (28 starts) with a 2.46 ERA, six shutouts, and four saves. Her 172 strikeouts ranked third in the ACC, and she earned spots on the All-ACC Third Team and NFCA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team. She also impressed in the ACC Tournament and even tossed a complete-game shutout at Clemson with seven strikeouts. Dunning's sophomore year in 2023 saw her log 158 innings with a 3.70 ERA, 13 wins, 15 complete games, and 147 strikeouts. Notably, she threw a no-hitter in her first start of the season against Illinois State and held opposing hitters to a .219 average. Her freshman campaign in 2022 included 22 appearances (seven starts), 59.2 innings pitched, a 3-6 record, and 61 strikeouts. She made an immediate impression, recording eight strikeouts in two separate games early in the year. Dunning joins FAU transfer infielder Kiley Channell—another four-star portal addition—as Clemson continues to strengthen its roster for the 2025 season.
