Lizzie McGuire star reveals parents 'worked in a bar' during Disney Channel fame
Jake Thomas' parents worked in a bar after he found Disney Channel fame. The 35-year-old actor - who is the son of former radio host Bob Thomas and actress Sinns Thomas - was cast opposite Hilary Duff in the comedy series Lizzie McGuire in the early 2000s, and is still "super grateful" for how his parents gave up their own careers in Tennessee so he could pursue acting in LA. Speaking on the Zach Sang Show, he explained: "My parents were still acting and writing. My dad wrote two episodes of Lizzie McGuire, but the focus definitely started to become giving me the best shot possible. I am super, super grateful and thankful that they did that for me. They gave me the best opportunity to get where I am today. It's massive. Massive. "I recongised too,that when I was following along on this success, they had to make sacrifices in their own lives to help support that. You're a kid, you've got to have your parent there the entire time and they're not getting paid to be there. "My parents have never really talked about this, but they took [jobs] waiting tables, nightshifts, while I was on a TV show, just so that one of them was always earning income and keeping health insurance and stuff like that. During that time, Jake - who also appeared opposide Jude Law in A.I. Artificial Intelligence, and in more recent years has become a director - "hadn't realised" that his parents had given up so much for them, but now admits that he "can never thank them enough" for what they did. "Looking back on that now, I hadn't realised that growing up, but they worked at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal Studios. I have memories of us going to Universal and meeting my mom, and she'd still be in her waitress uniform smelling of french fries and we'd pick her up from work go home. "Now, looking back on that, I'm like 'You went from being on TV, local celebrity to doing this...' Sacrificing that essentially so I could continue my career. I can never thank them enough."

‘Sixth Sense' actor apologizes after California ski resort arrest and slur
Actor Haley Joel Osment, best known for his role in the 1999 thriller 'The Sixth Sense,' is apologizing for using an antisemitic slur during his arrest at a California ski resort earlier this month. Osment, 37, was arrested for public intoxication, possession of cocaine, and disorderly conduct at Mammoth Mountain on April 8. Video obtained by TMZ shows the actor being uncooperative as he tried to board a chairlift without his snowboard. In police body camera footage obtained by People, Osment is seen allegedly hurling an antisemitic slur at an arresting officer and calling him a 'Nazi.' 'I'm absolutely horrified by my behavior,' Osment said in a statement shared with People on Thursday. 'Had I known I used this disgraceful language in the throes of a blackout, I would have spoken up sooner.' Osment, who lost his Altadena, California, home in January's Eaton Fire, has reportedly been struggling with his insurance company. His statement continued: 'The past few months of loss and displacement have broken me down to a very low emotional place. But that's no excuse for using this disgusting word. From the bottom of my heart, I apologize to absolutely everyone that this hurts. What came out of my mouth was nonsensical garbage — I've let the Jewish community down and it devastates me. I don't ask for anyone's forgiveness, but I promise to atone for my terrible mistake.' In addition to his iconic role in 'The Sixth Sense,' Osment also starred in Steven Spielberg's 'A.I. Artificial Intelligence' (2001) and 'Secondhand Lions' (2003). The Mammoth incident was not his first run-in with the law. In 2006, he was arrested and pleaded guilty to driving under the influence after a car crash. Haley Joel Osment said he is 'absolutely horrified' by his behavior while being arrested for public intoxication earlier this month, which included saying he was being 'kidnapped by a f–king Nazi' and later using an antisemitic slur against an officer. Police recovered a $20 bill from Osment during the arrest, which had a 'controlled substance' wrapped inside it, believed to be cocaine, police sources told People. ‘Sixth Sense' Star Haley Joel Osment Arrested At California Ski Resort For Public Intoxication
'The Sixth Sense' star Haley Joel Osment was arrested at a Mammoth Lakes, California ski lodge earlier this month for alleged public intoxication and possession of an unidentified controlled substance, according to multiple media outlets, including TMZ and People. The 37-year-old was arrested at a parking lot for The Mill, one of the so-called base lodges at the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area, around 2 p.m. on April 8. A local police source told People on Wednesday that they had received a call reporting his alleged 'unruly conduct.' Sergeant Jason Heilman of the Mammoth Lakes Police Department told the outlet Wednesday that Osment, best known for his role in 'The Sixth Sense' as a clairvoyant child who can see dead people, 'was booked and is no longer in custody.' Osment was previously charged in 2006 with misdemeanor drunk driving at 18. He reportedly pleaded no contest at the time to one count of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of possession of marijuana, receiving three years of probation. The local police source who confirmed his alleged unruliness Wednesday said the controlled substance authorities claim to have found on Osment earlier this month is currently 'presumed to be cocaine.' They added that law enforcement has since 'sent it for testing.' 'We will have the results soon,' the source told People. Osment was only 10 years old while filming opposite Bruce Willis in M. Night Shyamalan's 'The Sixth Sense.' He went on to star in Steven Spielberg's 'A.I. Artificial Intelligence' (2001). Like many Hollywood stars, Osment lost his home in the California wildfires earlier this year. 'It's been an extremely difficult month,' his sister Emily shared at the time.
