Stars Brought the Glamour for the New York City Ballet Spring Gala
If you've been binging Étoile like us, then ballet is right in the front of your mind. All the glamour, the pageantry, the pointe shoes. It makes you want to get dressed up and head over to Lincoln Center. Last night, celebrities did just that to celebrate the spring season of the New York City Ballet. The 2025 Spring Gala had a 'Masked Ball' theme, and Claire Danes, Hugh Dancy, Ariana DeBose, Nina Dobrev, and Diane Kruger were all co-chairs. Some stars showed up in masks, while others opted for big gowns and lots of drama. Danes wore a custom GapStudio by Zac Posen dress with her hair slicked back. Ariana Debose's ensemble was from designer Bibhu Mohapatra. Nina Dobrev wore a voluminous pink gown. Diane Kruger was the only one of the co-chairs who wore a mask. All the celebrities and attendees gathered for a night of fantastical ballet. Dobrev told Vogue, 'You can see the precision that goes into every step, but the dancers make it feel so effortless. It's a beautiful paradox.' Also in attendance was Tiler Peck, principal dancer for the New York City Ballet, who also has a fun part in Étoile. The dancer shares behind-the-scenes looks at what goes into a ballet performance on her TikTok, if you've ever wondered what the life of a ballerina is like. The night's performance was 'Vienna Waltzes,' which NYC Ballet says 'showcases Balanchine's fondness for the waltz, featuring opulent scenery, sumptuous costumes, and more than 50 dancers in dreamlike motion.' The Shoes and Looks at the New York City Ballet 2025 Spring Gala
The New York City Ballet held its 2025 Spring Gala at Lincoln Center Plaza on Thursday, welcoming a range of stars to take in a performance of 'Vienna Waltzes,' showcasing the artistry of the company's founding choreographer George Balanchine. The evening also included a cocktail reception before the performance as well as dinner and dancing afterwards. The formal event featured longtime Hollywood couple Claire Danes and Hugh Dancy, Broadway and screen actress Ariana DeBose, rock star Debbie Harry and more notable names. While DeBose wore pointed-toe shoes in a gemstone purple hue to accompany her draped white gown, Harry wore shiny black booties with a chunky lug sole to go with her ensemble featuring gold metallic patterns.
