Sabrina Carpenter breaks British icon's album chart record amid controversy

Sabrina Carpenter has left a forever mark on the UK charts, breaking the record for the longest consecutive streak in the top five album chart. Her hit album, Short N' Sweet, has now spent a massive 43 consecutive weeks at the top, according to the Official Charts Company. The 26-year-old singer's achievement officially topples Ed Sheeran from the top spot. Sheeran's 2021 album, =, had a record-setting 42-week stay in the top five, a claim which he managed to hold onto until Sabrina's album came along. Oasis have stormed back into the UK albums chart, climbing to number two with their greatest hits collection Time Flies… 1994–2009, as anticipation builds for their upcoming Oasis Live '25 reunion tour. The Britpop icons, who disbanded in 2009, officially confirmed their return in August 2024. The long-awaited tour kicks off in Cardiff this July, with major shows lined up in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin. Topping the UK albums chart for the first time this week is musician James Marriott, whose debut album Don't Tell The Dog takes the number one spot. The news comes just days after Sabrina revealed the cover for her upcoming album Man's Best Friend, which sparked enormous backlash. The image, which depicts Carpenter on her knees, in a short black dress and heels, holding the leg of a suited man as he yanks her hair, is shocking many fans. On Instagram, @edersoaresx wrote, 'Lol this cover art is so disgusting. As a fan I don't like it :(.' Reddit user Potential-Friend-133 said, 'The first image is very triggering for me. I hate this. A LOT.' More Trending Others have argued that the album cover is satirical or even a moment of political commentary. On the singles chart, Alex Warren reclaims the top spot with Ordinary landing at number one, followed by Sabrina Carpenter's latest hit Manchild in second place. Ravyn Lenae's Love Me Not holds steady at number three, while Chappell Roan's Pink Pony Club remains firmly at number four. Got a story? Nissan's Oddball Car Under Scrutiny After Airbag Injures Driver

Airbags Are Meant To Protect Drivers, Not Hurt Them According to the National Highway Safety Administration (NHTSA), frontal airbags have saved over 50,000 lives over a 30-year period, between 1987 and 2017. That's significant, but when the deployment of an airbag goes wrong, this impressive safety device can quickly turn into a lethal weapon. The NHTSA is now investigating an event where the driver of a 2009 Nissan Cube was injured when struck by an airbag module, which incorrectly detached from the steering wheel in what was a single-vehicle crash. Although only one incident was reported, the issue is serious enough for the Office of Defects Investigation (ODI) to look into the matter in more detail. 0:05 / 0:09 Walmart is selling a 'heavy duty' $89 step ladder for $48, and shoppers say it's 'sturdy and secure' Watch More Takata Airbags Implicated…Again Source: Nissan Airbags manufactured by Takata have been subject to a recall that affected hundreds of thousands of vehicles from various brands, many of them produced in the 2000s and 2010s. So, it should perhaps come as little surprise that the 2009 Nissan Cube involved in this latest incident is fitted with Takata PSDI-X inflators. Nissan and New Leaf LLC (previously known as Takata) have determined that the rupture was found at the weld point between the inflator cap and inflator housing. After striking the driver and causing injuries that required medical attention, the airbag module ended up in the Cube's back seat. The airbag cushion and inflator were still attached to the module housing. Source: Nissan The Cube's issue could be separate from the wider Takata recall, as the NHTSA stated the Cube's airbag failure 'appears to be inconsistent with known ruptures attributed to propellant degradation.' As of this writing, no recall has been issued, as only a completed investigation can determine whether a recall is necessary. The 2009 model year was the first of the third-gen Cube, but it was also the first Cube to be exported to North America. It is one of Nissan's most unusual designs, and it's still a bizarre sight on roads today. Hopefully, the ODI determines that this scary airbag failure is an isolated incident and not a flaw that could affect all Cubes. About the Author Karl Furlong View Profile

Anti-ragging regulations: UGC serves show cause notices to seven varsities in Karnataka

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has served show cause notices to seven public and private universities in the State, including the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB) and Bengaluru City University, for not implementing the Anti-Ragging Regulations-2009 to prevent ragging on college and university campuses. Apart from IIMB and BCU, public universities including Haveri University, Karnataka Janapada Vishwavidyalaya of Gotagodi, Karnataka State Dr. Gangubai Hangal Music and Performing Arts University of Mysuru, and private universities like Sri Sathya Sai University for Human Excellence of Kalaburagi, and KLE Technological University of Hubballi have failed to implement the rules in the State, as per the commission. The higher education institution and universities have been given 30 days term to implement the anti-ragging regulations, failing which funds being provided for research projects will be withdrawn, in addition to de-recognition or withdrawal of affiliation. 'Ragging in all its forms shall be banned in the entire institution, including its departments, constituent units, all its premises (academic, residential, sports, canteen, etc), whether located within the campus or outside, and in all means of transportation of students, whether public or private. The institution shall take strict action against those found guilty of ragging and/or of abetting ragging,' states the regulation. It is mandatory for all higher education institutions and universities to implement these regulations and submit appropriate documents to the UGC. 'As you are aware, adherence to the UGC Regulation on Ragging, 2009 is mandatory for all Higher Education Institutions. Failure to comply not only violates UGC guidelines but also compromises student safety, particularly in light of increasing concerns about ragging-related distress and campus hostility,' the UGC has said in the notice. Further, the UGC directed the institutions to submit the anti-ragging compliance and get online undertakings from all students within 30 days from the date of notice. The IIMB, in its response to the notice, told The Hindu that the institution has no tolerance for ragging of any kind. 'IIMB has an anti-ragging cell in place. All students are required to submit a declaration that they will not indulge in ragging. All students get several reminders not to indulge in any ragging activities from the administration. Precautionary and oversight measures are also in place. We will follow up with the authorities concerned to have our Institute's name removed from this list.'

Tuesday was the last date for students to confirm their admission in the respective schools allotted under the RTE quota. The day my dead daughter visited me from the spirit world and gave me irrefutable evidence to prove it. Military chief SUZANNE GIESMANN'S family tragedy changed her life. Now she tells how our loved ones never really leave

When I became a medium, the messages I was given by the spirits sounded so much like my own thoughts that it was often hard to distinguish them as coming from a separate entity. But the voice I heard one morning in 2009 was unmistakable. Although it had been three years since I had heard my stepdaughter Susan speak, the tone and inflection brought her back to me as vividly as if she had never been struck by the lightning bolt that killed her and her unborn baby.
