Amit Shah launches camp for BJP leaders from M.P.; Rajnath Singh, B.L. Santhosh, Shivraj Chouhan to address sessions
Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday inaugurated a three-day training programme for party leaders, including Ministers, MPs and MLAs, from Madhya Pradesh.
The training camp, being held in Pachmarhi in Narmadapuram district, was announced in the wake of controversial statements by party leaders, including derogatory remarks by State Minister Vijay Shah against Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, who briefed the media during Operation Sindoor, which drew widespread criticism and the wrath of the Supreme Court.
Apart from him, Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda and MLA Narendra Prajapati's remarks about Operation Sindoor and the armed forces had drawn criticism from the Opposition, putting the ruling party on the defensive.
The Union Home Minister delivered the inaugural address. 'While Amit Shahji did not specifically talk about any particular leader or issue, he said anyone could make mistakes, but it is important not to repeat those,' an MLA from Bhopal, who is at the camp, told The Hindu.
Even as party leaders have termed the three-day event a 'routine programme', sources said the camp is aimed at training leaders in public communication, discipline, and discussing sensitive issues.
MPs and MLAs from Madhya Pradesh will remain in Pachmarhi till June 16. Several leaders, including national general secretary (organisation) B.L. Santhosh, joint general secretary (organisation) Shiv Prakash, and Union Minister and former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, are scheduled to address various sessions. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will address the programme on the last day.
A State Minister, who is attending the camp, said the event will also include sessions on the 'history and growth of the BJP' and on its government in the State, from the tenure of former CM Uma Bharti to that of the current CM, Mohan Yadav.
'Discipline, restraint'
'The focus is on discipline and restraint while speaking in public. In the age of social media, anything you say spreads so fast that it becomes a controversy before you get a chance to clarify. So, the main lesson from this event will be to think before you speak because what you say becomes the party's statement in the media and among the masses,' the Minister said.
State BJP spokesperson Pankaj Chaturvedi said that such training camps are part of the party's policy.
'The party keeps organising programmes like these for all types of workers, from elected representatives to ground workers, as training and discipline are part of the BJP's policy. This particular event is a high-level programme for elected representatives and senior leaders. A similar event was organised in Ujjain before the 2023 Assembly election,' Mr. Chaturvedi said.
He added that the event's agenda is 'much wider' than is being reported by the media. 'The media is only talking about one thing: communication training. It's not just about that. The event focuses on the future needs and emerging situations in politics and how to adapt to those,' he said.
Digvijay takes a dig
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and former CM Digvijaya Singh took a dig at the three-day training event, saying that the ruling party leaders are 'being trained in how to commit corruption'.
Mr. Chaturvedi hit back, saying that the grand old party 'will not be able to comprehend such programmes as it lacks the culture of discipline and training'.

'Mastered the art of slogans, not solutions': Rahul Gandhi targets PM Modi over economic woes, says ‘Make in India' failing youth
NEW DELHI: Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Saturday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, questioning the success of the 'Make in India' initiative and accused him of focusing on catchy slogans rather than delivering real solutions to India's economic challenges. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now In a post on X, Gandhi said, "'Make in India' promised a factory boom. So why is manufacturing at record lows, youth unemployment at record highs, and why have imports from China more than doubled? Modi ji has mastered the art of slogans, not solutions. Since 2014, manufacturing has fallen to 14% of our economy." He highlighted that manufacturing has dropped to just 14% of the country's economy since 2014, the year the initiative was launched. He also pointed to a sharp rise in imports from China, accusing the Union government of ignoring local industry in favour of catchy slogans. Gandhi, LoP in Lok Sabha, also shared a video of his interaction with two young men, Shivam and Saif, in Nehru Place, New Delhi. He said the duo are skilled and full of potential but lack the opportunities to succeed in today's economic environment. 'The truth is stark: we assemble, we import, but we don't build. China profits." he said, criticising India's dependence on imported goods and lack of robust manufacturing. He further alleged that the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, once heavily promoted by the government, is now being quietly rolled back. "With no new ideas, Modi ji has surrendered. Even the much-hyped PLI scheme is now being quietly rolled back. India needs a fundamental shift - one that empowers lakhs of producers through honest reforms and financial support,' Gandhi warned. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now 'We must stop being a market for others. If we don't build here, we'll keep buying from those who do. The clock is ticking, ' he added. The Make in India initiative was launched by PM Modi in 2014 as part of a broader effort to drive nation-building and boost the manufacturing sector.

(Source: X@RajnathSingh) Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh warned on Saturday (June 21) that any future terror attack in India would cost Pakistan 'dearly', reiterating that Operation Sindoor had only been 'paused' by India. He also highlighted how Islamabad had to kneel down when India unleashed its military might in response to the ghastly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam in April. Singh was speaking with security personnel at Northern Command in Jammu and Kashmir's Udhampur, where he vowed that Pakistan's strategy to give India a thousand wounds won't succeed. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD 'We not only foiled their plans but also took such retaliatory action that Pakistan had to kneel down. Any terrorist attack on Indian soil is going to cost Pakistan very dearly,' said the defence minister. Delighted to interact with the Armed Forces Personnel during 'Barakhana' at Northern Command HQ in Udhampur. The life of a soldier is filled with courage and sacrifice. The nation will forever remain indebted to their services in the line of duty. — Rajnath Singh (@rajnathsingh) June 20, 2025 India named its military action against Pakistan-backed terrorists as 'Operation Sindoor', during which Indian forces launched strikes at nine terror camps deep inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. When Pakistan targeted Indian military sites, India responded by launching missile and drone strikes at 11 vital military bases. 'Operation Sindoor not over yet' The defence minister stressed that Operation Sindoor was not over yet and Delhi would respond with full force in response to any future terror attack. 'Operation Sindoor sent a powerful message to terrorists and their patrons that New India is assertive, resolute and will no longer be a victim of terrorism, but respond with strength and strategy,' said the Defence Minister. 'Operation Sindoor is not over yet. This is just a pause. I want to tell this to my neighbouring country,' he said. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD He praised the precision, coordination, and bravery of the armed forces and intelligence agencies in dismantling terrorist infrastructure, underlining that India's shift in its anti-terrorism policy stems from this exceptional courage and commitment. Singh characterised Operation Sindoor as more than a military operation, but a clear message to cross-border terrorists and their supporters that India will deliver a decisive response to any threats against its unity and integrity.
