Govt ignoring coastal Karnataka, claims BJP

Mangaluru: Accusing the Congress-led state government of apathy and administrative failure in addressing public issues in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a large-scale dharna satyagraha in front of all Gram Panchayat, Town Municipal and City Municipal Council offices across the two districts on June 23. The protest, scheduled between 10 am and 1 pm, aims to highlight what the party describes as 'deliberate neglect' of people's basic civic needs and pending welfare schemes. District BJP presidents, MLAs, MLCs and MPs from both districts are expected to participate in the demonstration. Among the key issues flagged by BJP MLC Kishore Kumar Puttur, who released a statement on Tuesday, are: Delays in plot approval: Residents are allegedly being forced to travel to other taluk headquarters and wait for months to get approvals for residential plot layouts, particularly for Form 9 and 11E. Staff shortages in local bodies: Gram Panchayats continue to face acute staff crunch, with no remedial action from the government. Stalled housing under Ashraya scheme: Approval of houses has been on hold for over two years, and even ongoing works are not receiving sanctioned funds. Rejection of Akrama-Sakrama applications: Widespread dissatisfaction is brewing over what the BJP terms as 'arbitrary' rejection of regularisation applications without proper scrutiny. Non-disbursement of pension schemes: Elderly citizens and beneficiaries under the Sandhya Suraksha scheme are allegedly not receiving their entitled pensions. Threats to Gruha Lakshmi scheme: The government is reportedly considering rolling back the flagship women's welfare scheme, citing fiscal constraints. Misuse of public funds: BJP has criticised the ongoing re-enumeration exercise under the name of census as a misuse of public money. Terming the protest 'a people's movement rather than a political campaign,' Puttur stated that the dharna would be peaceful but firm in conveying the grievances of ordinary citizens to the government.

Delhi Govt shortlists 75 ‘CM Shri Schools' — Here's what sets them apart

Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood said on June 19 that the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the national capital has provisionally shortlisted schools for the 75 newly announced 'CM Shri Schools'. These schools are expected to become operational in the coming weeks, Sood said. "Most of the CM Shri Schools have been shortlisted. These schools will start functioning soon, and preparations to operationalise them are currently underway," Sood said. Sood said a number of existing government schools are being upgraded and developed into CM Shri Schools. The Directorate of Education has already initiated the recruitment process for teaching and leadership positions in these schools. The Bharatiya Janata Party came to power in the national capital after 27 years by defeating the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Arvind Kejriwal in the assembly polls held in February this year. Remember, public school education has also been a focus of the previous AAP government in Delhi In a circular issued on June 5, the department invited applications from teachers, Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), Primary Teachers (PRTs), and other teaching staff, having at least five years before they retire. Another circular issued on June 10 opened applications for principals and vice-principals who wish to transfer to the new schools, with the same retirement conditions. The CM Shri Schools initiative is an education reform launched by the Chief Minister Rekha Gupta-led Delhi government in its 2025–26 budget. It builds on the existing PM Shri model from the Centre. An official quoted by the news agency PTI said these upcoming schools are designed to be sustainable and environmentally friendly, operating as zero-waste and solar-powered campuses. "These schools will have AI-enabled libraries, smart classrooms equipped with Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) tools, smartboards, and biometric attendance systems," the official said. The schools will also feature robotics laboratories to foster interest in the field among students, he added. According to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's Delhi Budget speech, a corpus of ₹ 100 crore has been allocated for setting up these schools. CM Shri schools are model government schools upgraded under a scheme similar to the Centre's PM Shri (Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India), which aims to provide exemplary National Education Policy ‑ 2020 aligned education. The Delhi government initially announced 60 CM Shri schools in March 2025, with ₹ 100 crore allocated. Later, the number was raised to 75 schools, which were to be operational within a year. -The schools will undergo an infrastructure overhaul, including facilities for smart boards, AI tools, robotics, labs for science, computers, languages, and renovated classrooms. -The curriculum in these schools will be in accordance with NEP 2020. -The Directorate of Education has already initiated the recruitment process for teaching and leadership positions in these schools.

Political Churn In Bihar? Pawan Singh And Manish Kashyap's Lucknow Meet Sparks Buzz

Last Updated: Ahead of Bihar Elections 2025, Pawan Singh and Manish Kashyap's meeting in Lucknow has sparked speculation about a new political alliance in the state A high-profile meeting between film star Pawan Singh and YouTuber-turned-political commentator Manish Kashyap in Lucknow has stirred the political pot in Bihar, setting off a fresh round of speculation about an emerging alliance or new political front. The encounter, which took place recently, is being widely discussed not only in the entertainment industry but also in the corridors of Bihar politics. What's fuelling the buzz is not just the meeting itself, but the context in which it occurred. Both Singh and Kashyap have been at the centre of recent controversies and are currently seen as disenchanted with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). A photograph from the meeting, showing Pawan Singh's mother placing her hand on the heads of both men in a symbolic gesture of blessing, has gone viral, further intensifying public curiousity. Pawan Singh, often called Bhojpuri cinema's 'power star", had contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from the Karakat seat. However, the BJP-led NDA had officially backed former Union Minister Upendra Kushwaha on the same seat. Both candidates ended up losing, and Singh has since maintained a conspicuous distance from the BJP, prompting speculation about his future political path. Manish Kashyap, on the other hand, has been openly critical of the BJP in recent months. A vocal online personality with a strong grassroots following, Kashyap exited the party after an alleged assault incident at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH), where he claimed he was targeted due to political pressure. Since then, he has levelled several serious accusations against BJP leadership, accusing the party of abandoning core issues and suppressing dissent. Now, their Lucknow meeting is being interpreted as more than just a casual get-together. Political observers see it as a potential realignment, possibly the early signs of a new political formation aimed at challenging existing players in Bihar's volatile electoral landscape. The timing of the meeting is particularly significant. With the dust barely settling on the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, political players across Bihar are already shifting focus to the 2025 Assembly elections. The state has a history of political upheavals and surprise alliances, and the emergence of a fresh face or front is never off the table. While there is no official word from either Singh or Kashyap about the purpose of their meeting, insiders suggest discussions may have included future political collaboration, particularly around youth-centric and regional issues. Supporters of Manish Kashyap see this as the beginning of his political reinvention, an attempt to pivot from digital activism to electoral politics. Meanwhile, fans of Pawan Singh are interpreting the development as an effort to build a broader social and political base beyond cinema. The presence of Pawan Singh's mother in the meeting photo adds a layer of symbolism that hasn't gone unnoticed. In a political culture where family blessings and social optics hold weight, the image is being seen as a public endorsement of unity and shared purpose. It's also being interpreted as a subtle signal that something more concrete may be in the works, perhaps an announcement down the line, closer to the Bihar elections. In a state where celebrity appeal and caste equations both play major roles in election outcomes, a coalition or partnership between Singh and Kashyap, backed by their significant social media reach, could emerge as a wildcard.
