21 Palestinians Martyred by Israeli Gunfire in Gaza, Including 11 Waiting for Aid - Jordan News

21 Palestinians Martyred by Israeli Gunfire in Gaza, Including 11 Waiting for Aid At least 21 Palestinians were martyred and several others injured on Saturday as a result of Israeli occupation forces' gunfire in the Gaza Strip, including 11 individuals who were waiting to receive humanitarian aid. اضافة اعلان According to Palestinian medical sources, six people were killed and at least 10 injured by Israeli gunfire while waiting near an aid distribution point west of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip. Al-Awda Hospital in Nuseirat reported the deaths of five Palestinians and the injury of 15 others as they attempted to obtain aid near the Al-Shohada Junction in central Gaza. Additionally, three Palestinians were killed and others wounded in an Israeli airstrike targeting the Zaytoun neighborhood in southern Gaza City, with victims transferred to Ahli Arab (Al-Maamadani) Hospital. Another three Palestinian brothers were martyred in an Israeli airstrike on Al-Mansoura Street in the Shuja'iyya neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, while one more Palestinian was killed by Israeli forces northwest of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza. Since October 7, 2023, Israel has carried out what has been widely condemned as genocidal acts in Gaza, involving killing, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, in defiance of international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to halt the aggression. The ongoing assault has resulted in over 186,000 casualties, including martyrs and wounded — the majority being women and children — in addition to more than 11,000 missing persons, hundreds of thousands displaced, and widespread famine that has claimed the lives of many, including children. — (WAFA)

Iran accuses nuclear watchdog chief of bias in formal complaint to UN

Iran's Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir-Saeid Iravani, has submitted an official letter of protest to the UN Security Council and Secretary-General António Guterres, accusing the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, of failing to uphold his duties with neutrality and professionalism. The letter, delivered in New York on Friday, centers on what Iran views as Grossi's inaction and biased conduct surrounding Israel's recent strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, sites Tehran insists are entirely peaceful and under IAEA supervision, the Mehr News Agency reported. According to the letter, Grossi's public remarks prior to and following the 'Israeli' attacks 'constitute a clear and serious breach of the standard of impartiality required of his Office.' The ambassador argues that Grossi not only failed to condemn the strikes but also refrained from identifying 'Israel' as the responsible party despite its public acknowledgment of the attacks. The Iranian envoy criticized Grossi's June 9 press conference in particular, during which he referred to 'Israel's' "concerns that need to be addressed" while, Iran says, ignoring binding international resolutions that prohibit any threat or use of force against nuclear facilities designated for peaceful purposes. Iravani cited IAEA General Conference Resolutions GC(34)/RES/533 and GC(44)/RES/444, both of which explicitly forbid such actions. Iravani further stated that Grossi's silence in response to these violations amounts to "de facto complicity, by omission," in what Tehran calls acts of aggression 'unprecedented in the history of the Agency.' The letter also highlighted a pattern of what Iran claims is selective enforcement. Iravani pointed out Grossi's swift public condemnation in 2023 when Iran legally withdrew accreditation from certain nuclear inspectors, a right it holds under its safeguards agreement. According to the letter, this contrasts with Grossi's lack of response to more serious threats, such as what Iran and OIC members characterized as an 'unprecedented' nuclear threat from 'Israeli' officials against Palestinian civilians last year. 'The Director General has consistently adopted a politicized, selective, and discriminatory posture towards the Islamic Republic of Iran,' the letter reads, asserting that his actions undermine the legitimacy of the IAEA and violate the principle of impartiality enshrined in Article III of the agency's Statute.

UK to ban Palestine Action, labeling it as "terrorist group"

The UK government is expected to formally ban the pro-Palestine group Palestine Action next week, following a high-profile breach at RAF Brize Norton that triggered a nationwide security review of military installations. Home Secretary Yvette Cooper is preparing to submit a written ministerial statement to Parliament on Monday that would designate the group a proscribed organization under the Terrorism Act 2000, according to a Whitehall source. If approved, the move would make membership in Palestine Action a criminal offense. The decision comes days after two activists infiltrated the RAF base in Oxfordshire, managing to spray red paint on military aircraft, including a Voyager jet used by the prime minister and the king. The group shared video footage of the incident online, showing activists riding electric scooters across the airfield at night without being stopped. Palestine Action said the targeted aircraft were used for refueling missions in support of US and 'Israeli' military operations. 'Activists have interrupted Britain's direct participation in the commission of genocide and war crimes across the Middle East,' a spokesperson said. The group claimed the aircraft were put 'out of service,' though RAF engineers later reported the damage was unlikely to affect ongoing operations. Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the incident as 'disgraceful' and 'an act of vandalism,' while counter-terrorism police, the Ministry of Defence, and Thames Valley Police launched a joint investigation. RAF Brize Norton serves as a key hub for the UK's global air transport and refueling missions, including flights to RAF Akrotiri in Cyprus, from which the UK has conducted surveillance flights over Gaza. Palestine Action, co-founded in 2020 by Huda Ammori and Richard Barnard, describes itself as a direct action network targeting arms manufacturers and financial institutions linked to 'Israel's' military operations. The group has previously claimed responsibility for disruptive actions at weapons factories and corporate offices, including a recent protest at a drone parts manufacturer in Shenstone. On its website, the group states, 'Using disruptive tactics, Palestine Action targets corporate enablers of the Israeli military-industrial complex… through strategic, sustained, and focused direct action.' The pending proscription has drawn sharp criticism from human rights advocates and solidarity groups. In response to reports of the planned ban, Palestine Action wrote on X, 'We represent every person who stands for Palestinian liberation. If they want to ban us, they ban us all.' The Palestine Solidarity Campaign also condemned the move, calling it 'outrageous' and insisting that Palestine Action is a 'non-violent direct action group.' Under UK law, the home secretary can ban organizations that are found to promote or participate in terrorism, including glorification of terrorist acts. If enacted, Palestine Action would join a list of banned organizations such as Hizb ut-Tahrir and the Wagner Group, which were proscribed in 2024 and 2023, respectively.
