Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council Partners with Rotana Hotels Group To Provide Exclusive Promotional Benefits and Discounts for its Members
The Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council has signed a cooperation agreement with Rotana Hotels Group, aimed at diversifying the range of services and incentives available to women entrepreneurs who are members of the Council and holders of the 'Mubdia' license. The agreement seeks to support businesses and enterprises owned and managed by women in Abu Dhabi by offering exclusive deals, packages, and discounts to Council members. Additionally, it facilitates the promotion of local, artisanal, and creative products, as well as specialized services from women-owned businesses within the Council, leveraging Rotana Hotels' extensive presence as a key hospitality and tourism hub in the UAE.
Her Excellency Asma Al Fahim, Chairwoman of the Abu Dhabi Businesswomen Council, emphasized the Council's commitment to strengthening collaboration and forging strategic partnerships with both public and private sector entities. She stated:
'The Council is dedicated to expanding opportunities for female entrepreneurs, fostering innovation, and supporting their business growth. Through strategic partnerships, we aim to introduce incentive programs and tailored initiatives that empower businesswomen to develop their ventures with a high level of creativity and innovation, ensuring their sustainable expansion both locally and internationally. This, in turn, contributes to enhancing Abu Dhabi's position as a leading destination for business, investment, and entrepreneurship.'
Her Excellency further highlighted that such collaborations unify efforts to provide targeted initiatives that inspire and equip women entrepreneurs with the tools they need to scale their businesses successfully.
Expressing her enthusiasm for the partnership, she added:
'We are pleased to collaborate with Rotana Hotels Group, a distinguished leader in the hospitality and tourism sector, known for its commitment to excellence and community engagement. This partnership marks an important step towards enhancing the services offered to our members, reinforcing the ecosystem that supports women-led businesses in Abu Dhabi.'

Egypt's chemical, fertilizer exports rise 18% in 4M 2025, Reaching $3.14bn
Egypt's Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council has reported an 18% year-on-year increase in sector exports during the first four months of 2025, with total exports reaching $3.14bn—up from approximately $2.73bn during the same period in 2024. Fertilizers led the sector's performance, generating $961m in export revenue, followed by plastics and polymers at $723m. Petrochemicals ranked third with $602m but recorded the highest growth among sub-sectors, surging 58% compared to the previous year. Turkey emerged as the top importer, purchasing $437m worth of Egyptian chemical and fertilizer products. It was followed by Italy ($396m), Spain ($187m), and Brazil (around $184m). Regionally, the European Union remained the largest export destination, accounting for 42% of total exports. Arab countries followed with 22%, and Asian markets with 16%. Khaled Abou El Makarem, Chairperson of the Chemicals and Fertilizers Export Council, said the figures reflect the sector's resilience and sustained growth despite global economic and geopolitical challenges. He emphasized the need to enhance the competitiveness of Egyptian products and accelerate market diversification—especially in Africa and Latin America. He added that the upcoming implementation of a new export subsidy rebate program in the second half of 2025 is expected to further stimulate the sector, helping achieve the Council's target of surpassing $9bn in total exports by year-end. Executive Director Mohamed Magid echoed these sentiments, highlighting the sector's strong performance as a testament to its ability to maintain momentum under pressure. He noted that the first-quarter results are a positive indicator of the global competitiveness of Egyptian products, despite ongoing regional conflicts and global economic headwinds that have disrupted fertilizer and petrochemical production worldwide. Magid also underlined the importance of developing industrial value chains and expanding specialized industries to further strengthen Egypt's export capabilities and support the state's broader goals for industrial and trade development.

Hospitality Advisory Council discusses new national initiatives to boost growth and employment opportunities in the sector
Tourism and hospitality sectors see sustained growth as hotel occupancy rates reach 81.3% in Q1 2025 The Hospitality Advisory Council convened its second meeting of 2025 under the chairmanship of H.E. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the Emirates Tourism Council. The session brought together 16 Council members, including CEOs and senior executives from leading national and international hotel groups. Discussions focused on a range of new national initiatives developed in partnership with the private sector to accelerate the growth of the UAE's hospitality sector. The initiatives also aim to generate employment opportunities across all sectors of this vital industry. H.E. Bin Touq said: 'Thanks to the vision and guidance of our wise leadership, the UAE's tourism and hospitality sectors continue to thrive. In the first quarter of 2025, hotel revenues reached AED 13.5 billion, with over 8.4 million guests recorded, a two per cent increase compared to the same period in 2024. Total hotel nights reached 29.3 million, and the national hotel occupancy rate stood at 81.3 per cent during the same period.' H.E. added: 'These impressive figures reflect the UAE's strong commitment to advancing its hospitality industry in line with global best practices. We have invested heavily in developing hotel and entertainment infrastructure across all seven emirates, organizing major international events, and delivering exceptional hospitality experiences that reflect authentic Emirati heritage and culture. As a result, the UAE has become one of the world's leading hospitality destinations today.' The Minister of Economy continued: 'The year 2025 marks a major milestone for UAE tourism, marked by the election of Shaikha Al Nowais as the first woman globally to serve as Secretary-General of the UN World Tourism Organization for the term 2026-2029. This achievement reinforces the UAE's prominent role in supporting international efforts to advance the global tourism industry.' The meeting's discussions covered a comprehensive array of key files and initiatives that support the UAE's efforts to enhance the growth and competitiveness of its hospitality sector. Participants emphasized the importance of promoting collaboration between the public and private sectors to meet the objectives of the National Tourism Strategy 2031, which aims to establish the UAE as the top global tourism brand by the next decade. The Council also reviewed the newly launched 'Summer Hospitality Camp' program by the Ministry of Economy. EU Parliament Approves €4 Billion Financial Aid Package for Egypt
Yara Sameh On Wednesday, Parliament approved a provisional agreement reached with Council on a macro-financial assistance (MFA) package for Egypt worth €4 billion. A short-term loan of up to €1 billion was already disbursed at the end of 2024. An additional loan of up to €4 billion will now be disbursed. Egypt will have 35 years to repay the loans. The funds' release is subject to Egypt's satisfactory implementation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme and other policy measures to be agreed in a memorandum between the EU and the Egyptian authorities. In a yearly report to Parliament and Council, the Commission will examine the progress made, assess Egypt's economic prospects and evaluate the loans' impact on the economic and fiscal situation. The Commission will also assess steps taken to shore up democratic mechanisms and the rule of law and to protect human rights in the country. The agreement with Council was approved by 386 votes in favour, 132 against, and with 49 abstentions. Parliament's rapporteur Céline Imart (EPP, FR), said: 'Parliament's backing for this EU loan reflects its high regard for Egypt as a partner country. By helping Egypt, we are also looking after EU interests in an unstable region.'
