The Scottish Grocers' Federation (SGF) has issued a plea for people who use vaping products not to buy from illicit sellers.
And the convenience store trade body, which represents retailers in the region, is urging people to share details of those who they suspect are selling goods illegally to pass on concerns to trading standards, police or anonymously via Crimestoppers.
Single-use vapes became outlawed across the United Kingdom on June 1. All stock needed to be immediately removed from shop shelves.
SGF President Graham Watson, himself a community convenience store owner, said: 'As an organisation, we have significant concerns that an unintended consequence of the ban will be an increase in the illegal sale of vaping products.
'It is harmful in so many ways for illegal and unregulated products to be circulating.
'Our members work incredibly hard to champion responsible community retailing, within the law. Illicit supplies undermine the great work they do.
'With all of that in mind, we are asking people not to buy from illicit sellers and to share any information they have with those responsible for them to the authorities. If they do not have the information, they cannot act against them.'
SGF has issued a special guide to advise its members how to stay on the right side of the new law. It also encourages members to follow Challenge 25 policies to avoid the risk of illegal sales. The guidance to retailers from SGF is available here.

The campaign will be promoted to youths on social media platforms, including Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram. Crimestoppers has launched a new campaign to keep kids safe over the summer holidays. The charity's youth service Fearless wants to engage with youngsters to prevent violence and warn of the dangers of off-road biking. The Scotland-wide campaign, which is backed by Network Rail Scotland, will see the Fearless team active on social media platforms including Snapchat, TikTok and Instagram, to engage with young people during the summer months. The teams will also operate a number of outreach events, including at TRNSMT in Glasgow Green on July 11-13, where kids can speak up about crime anonymously. The initiative comes after the death of 16-year-old Kayden Moy at Irvine beach last month. The youngster was laid to rest this week following the tragedy on May 17. A 14-year-old boy and two 17-year-old boys have appeared in court charged with murder. Police Scotland has also vowed to crackdown on youth violence at Edinburgh's Portobello beach after two people were attacked in the last three months. A rise in violence sparked the Record's Our Kids ... Our Future - our response to a youth violence epidemic. As part of the campaign, we have repeatedly demanded the Scottish Government to invest in young people, so they can be nurtured, mentored and guided in every community. Following Kayden Moy's death last month, Scotland's justice secretary Angela Constance pledged an additional £6m to tackle youth violence. Police appeal after £150,000 violin stolen from Islington pub
An 18th century violin worth more than £150,000 has been stolen from a north London pub, with police appealing for help to trace the string instrument, which belonged to a member of London's Philharmonia Orchestra, was allegedly stolen on the evening of 18 February from The Marquess Tavern on Canonbury Street in theft was reported to the Met Police that evening by the 30-year-old Michael Collins said the "incredibly precious" violin, which the force was told was made in Florence in 1740, was "priceless" to the victim. Man arrested as Coventry woman missing for over a month
A man has been arrested and a "desperate" appeal issued to find a woman who has been missing for a month and who failed to contact family on her Coulson, 34, from Coventry, was last seen on 21 May in the city. CCTV captured her at St Mary & Benedict Church in Raglan Street at about 21:45 have said it was "very out of character" for Ms Coulson not to have contacted her family on her birthday on 17 June and Det Insp Nigel Box said: "We desperately need to find Reanne to make sure she is OK."He said a man who was known to Ms Coulson had been arrested in connection with her disappearance and was being held in custody. In an urgent appeal, Mr Box said: "Reanne's family are really worried and just want her home.
