Man who helped deliver AK-47 held
Jaipur: Rajasthan Police's Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Thursday arrested a man from Jaipur for allegedly facilitating the delivery of an AK-47 rifle to criminal Jeetendra alias Jeetu Chambal—brother of notorious history-sheeter Ramdutt alias Sonu Chambal.

The accused, identified as Shivraj Singh, a resident of Hathoj village on Kalwar Road, reportedly helped Jeetu Chambal acquire the assault rifle in Jaipur about three-and-a-half months ago. According to AGTF sources, Jeetu came to Jaipur in a car at the instruction of his elder brother but was unfamiliar with the area. Sonu then contacted Shivraj, who took Jeetu to Kalwar Road.
There, a youth arrived with a cricket kit bag.
Inside it was an AK-47, which was inspected and placed in Jeetu's vehicle.
This seizure has reignited focus on the Lawrence Bishnoi network. Sources suspect the AK-47 was part of a broader supply chain of weapons orchestrated through known arms smuggler Mahendra. During a previous Gogamedi case probe, police found a photo of an AK-47 in Mahendra's flat in Jagatpura, but he managed to flee with the weapon before police arrived.

Beyond targeting major traffickers, the police are also addressing consumption. "Cases against addicts are less robust than those for peddling, but we're now applying anti-narcotics laws to deter usage," he added. Operation Thunder extends beyond enforcement, integrating community involvement to tackle the root causes of drug abuse. Maknikar pointed to societal pressures driving youth toward narcotics, such as peer influence, family neglect, and the glamorisation of hedonism in media. "The pub and bar culture, prevalent in Maharashtra's urban centres, is infiltrating rural areas and tribal settlements," he noted. "We're cracking down on hookah parlours, which often serve as entry points to drug use." The campaign underscores collective responsibility, calling on public servants, social reformers, and citizens to contribute. "Families, schools, and colleges must raise awareness formally and informally," Maknikar urged. Maknikar advised parents to monitor their children's time and finances while allowing reasonable freedom. Aircraft tail snag briefly halts crash site clean-up
Ahmedabad: During the clearance of the Air India Flight 171 crash site in Ahmedabad on Sunday, the aircraft's tail section got lodged in a tree near the Anti-Corruption Bureau office (ACB) in Shahibaug Dafnala. The tail was part of the wreckage being transported in a truck to the airport for further examination as part of an ongoing probe, said V N Yadav, ACP, G Division. Police authorities blocked the road from Shahibaug Dafnala to Camp Hanuman Mandir to allow emergency teams to intervene. Shortly after, police personnel, along with a few locals, arrived at the scene and extricated the tail by trimming a few branches. The truck later resumed its journey, and the road was reopened for traffic. Commuters were not inconvenienced for long as the entire operation was conducted swiftly. No injuries or damage to property were reported. The wreckage will be kept in a hangar for investigation, which is being conducted by multiple national and international agencies. On June 12, the London-bound aircraft crashed in Meghaninagar shortly after take-off from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International airport in the city, killing 241 passengers on board. tnn

Amit Shah virtually inaugurates NFSU and I-Hub in Chhattisgarh
Raipur, Jun 22 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah virtually inaugurated the temporary campus of the National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU) and I-Hub Raipur in Nava Raipur on Sunday. Shah said that this marks a historic day for Chhattisgarh in the direction of modernising and scientifying the criminal justice system. The NFSU temporary campus and I-Hub will be developed at a cost of Rs 268 crores. The campus will offer BSc, MSc in Forensic Science, Cyber Security, Psychology, Digital Forensic, and professional diploma courses from the academic session 2025-26. Shah highlighted that these institutions will not only empower Chhattisgarh but also the entire central India with modern justice and crime investigation capabilities. He added that new forensic technologies like DNA fingerprinting, cyber security, and digital forensic will be accessible locally, making investigations faster and more accurate. The Home Minister urged the youth to become entrepreneurs and start their own startups, leveraging the I-Hub's resources and support. He also praised the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Dev Sai and Deputy CM Vijay Sharma for their efforts in taking the anti-Naxalite campaign to a decisive phase. Shah appealed to Naxalites to surrender and join the development journey of Chhattisgarh. He assured that graduating from NFSU under the Modi government will guarantee employment.
