Kochi, Apr 25 (PTI) A newborn was given a new lease of life after its mother allegedly died during childbirth at home in Malappuram district recently.
The baby, who was suffering from respiratory distress and dehydration, was admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Following lab tests confirming an infection, the infant was treated with antibiotics and oxygen support, it added.
Medical College Superintendent Dr Ganesh Mohan said the baby has made a full recovery and has since been handed over to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

Delhi govt to add dialysis machines, imaging facilities under PPP model
New Delhi: The Delhi government will soon add more than 30 dialysis machines in its hospitals, outsource MRI, CT scan and ultrasound services under the PPP model and construct VishramGrih (rest houses) for patients and their attendants, officials said. These developments were reviewed during a Health Department meeting chaired by Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on June 18, aimed at strengthening public healthcare infrastructure in the national capital. The meeting also discussed outsourcing outpatient departments (OPD) and inpatient department (IPD) registration services, gaps in staffing at hospitals and Mohalla Clinics, the Hospital Information Management System, and procurement of essential medicines. An additional agenda item was the constitution of various councils and identification of sensitive posts within the health department. Maharashtra reports 37 new COVID-19 cases
Mumbai: Maharashtra recorded 37 new coronavirus positive cases on Saturday, taking its overall infection count since January this year to 2,318, the health department said. No fresh fatality linked to the disease has been reported since Thursday. Of the new cases, 19 are in Mumbai, seven in Pune, five in Nagpur, two in Thane city and one each in Panvel, Sangli city as well the district's rural parts, and Akola city, an official statement said. The health department has conducted 25,199 COVID-19 tests across the state since January this year, it said, adding a total of 1,962 patients have recovered so far. Mumbai has reported 942 infection cases this year, including 501 in June and 435 in May, it said. Thirty-two patients have succumbed to the infection in the state since January, of whom 31 had comorbidities and one was suffering from other diseases. PTI>

Yoga is ‘art of living' says Haryana CM, announces 5-min yoga break in govt offices
More than 1 lakh participants including Haryana governor Bandaru Dattatreya, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini and yoga guru Baba Ramdev among others performed yoga together at the state level function organised on the banks of Brahmsarovar in Kurukshetra on Saturday. Saini said that a credit-based system will be started for the evaluation of students' yoga performance in all government schools. Along with this, yoga will also be implemented as an academic course in all universities and colleges of Haryana, Saini said. He said that yoga and naturopathy subjects will be recognised under the Ayush medical system from this year itself and government registration of doctors of these subjects will also be started. Saini also released three booklets based on the biography and yoga journey of Baba Ramdev and the Yoga protocol booklet prepared by Haryana Yoga Commission. During the programme, 1 lakh saplings were distributed to yoga practitioners by the forest department.
