Kanpur: The northern region is heading towards '
Nautapa
' which will commence from May 25. 'Nautapa' is a period of 9 days when the heat of the sun is felt the most and the temperature can break records at many places.
According to the Hindu calendar, this year 'Nautapa' beginning on May 25, will continue till June 8. Although the heat is intense for the entire 15 days, the first 9 days are particularly scorching. During 'Nautapa', the sun god comes very close to the earth, due to which the rays of the sun have a direct and intense effect on the earth. When the sun is in the Rohini constellation, it affects the heat.
According to astrology, Rohini Nakshatra belongs to Lord Venus, who is considered as the enemy constellation of the sun.
This is the reason that when the sun and Venus come together, there is more heat. The weather experts and doctors have advised to avoid heat, keep the body hydrated, wear light clothing, avoid sun exposure, and stay in a cool environment.
The people have been advised to avoid coming in the open sky in the noon, remain indoors, sprinkle cold water or take a bath to keep the body cold and take all preventive steps to avoid summer diseases.

Sunil Pandey, weather scientist at CSA University and Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that due to light clouds in the next five days, there is a possibility of strong winds, thunderstorms with local light rainfall and humid heat between May 23 to May 25.
These days, severe heat is wreaking havoc in the entire North India including the national capital Delhi.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said that the southwest monsoon is likely to reach Kerala in the next four to five days. This is much earlier than the normal date of June 1. The weather department had earlier forecast that the monsoon would hit Kerala by May 27.
