NTR district sets record with floating yoga on Krishna
VIJAYAWADA: The banks of the Krishna River at Beram Park witnessed a historic spectacle on Wednesday as over 2,000 yoga enthusiasts took part in the 'Water Craft - Floating Yoga' mega event, setting a new world record under the State's Yogandhra initiative.
Organised by the NTR District administration under the leadership of NTR District Collector G Lakshmisha, the event featured 1,000 participants performing yoga on 201 watercrafts—ranging from punts and boats to kayaks, jet skis, and lifeboats—while another 1,000 performed asanas on green carpets along the riverbank.
World Records Union judge Sharif Hanif certified the event as a world record for the highest number of people performing yoga on floating vessels in a river. He lauded the leadership of Collector Lakshmisha and praised the event as a symbol of unity, innovation, and wellness.
The event drew the participation of dignitaries including MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni), Special Principal Secretary of Tourism and Culture Ajay Jain, Principal Secretary of GAD (Political) Mukesh Kumar Meena, Joint Collector Ilakkia, and VMC Commissioner HM Dhyanachandra.

A remarkable event took place at Beram Park in Vijayawada on the 11th of this month, where over 100 yoga enthusiasts achieved a world record by performing yoga on boats on the Krishna River. Over 8.5 lakh registered for Mega Yogandhra
Rajamahendravaram: As part of the 'Yogandhra' programme, the main district-level event will be held near the Arts College on the Grand Trunk Road here on Friday, announced district collector P Prasanthi. She said that yoga sessions will be conducted at 14 different locations across the city under the supervision of various government departments. The Forest Department has made special arrangements for the Yogandhra programme in a large scale at Nagaravanam, located in the Diwancheruvu area. Highlighting the scale of participation, the collector informed that over 8.51 lakh people are expected to take part in the Yogandhra programme across more than 5,500 locations in the district. District officials urged people to actively take part in the programme and make yoga a part of their daily routine for a healthier lifestyle. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in a video conference held on Thursday, reviewed the progress of the ongoing 'Yogandhra' campaign with district collectors across the state. He emphasised that the month-long programme has now entered its final phase and stressed the need for effective coordination during the last two days to ensure maximum participation and impact. During the interaction, Collector Prasanthi informed the Chief Minister that the district had set a target of enrolling 7,71,000 participants, but exceeded expectations with 8,61,979 people registering for the programme.

Traffic restrictions on ghat roads
Paderu (ASR District): In view of the state-level Yogandhra event scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam on the June 20th and 21st, the district administration has made extensive arrangements to facilitate public participation. Around 500 buses have been arranged from the Paderu and Araku constituencies to transport people to the venue in Visakhapatnam. These buses will travel through the Araku, Chintapalli, and Paderu ghat roads enroute to the coastal city. In anticipation of heavy vehicular movement and to ensure a smooth flow of traffic, the district police have imposed traffic restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles along these ghat roads. According to a statement issued by District Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar, the movement of heavy vehicles on these routes will be restricted starting from 5 pm on the June 19th until the conclusion of the event on the night of 21st. The police have urged all vehicle operators and the general public to take note of these restrictions and plan alternative travel routes accordingly. The SP stated that measures have been taken in the interest of public safety and to prevent traffic congestion along the narrow and winding ghat roads.
