Paderu (ASR District): In view of the state-level Yogandhra event scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam on the June 20th and 21st, the district administration has made extensive arrangements to facilitate public participation.
Around 500 buses have been arranged from the Paderu and Araku constituencies to transport people to the venue in Visakhapatnam. These buses will travel through the Araku, Chintapalli, and Paderu ghat roads enroute to the coastal city.
In anticipation of heavy vehicular movement and to ensure a smooth flow of traffic, the district police have imposed traffic restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles along these ghat roads.
According to a statement issued by District Superintendent of Police Amit Bardar, the movement of heavy vehicles on these routes will be restricted starting from 5 pm on the June 19th until the conclusion of the event on the night of 21st. The police have urged all vehicle operators and the general public to take note of these restrictions and plan alternative travel routes accordingly. The SP stated that measures have been taken in the interest of public safety and to prevent traffic congestion along the narrow and winding ghat roads.

The grand event marked the culmination of the month-long 'Yogandhra' campaign, conducted by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. As part of the campaign, the state provided training to over 1.44 lakh yoga instructors, registered more than 2.17 crore participants across 1.4 lakh locations, and saw over 3 lakh people participate at a single location in Vizag. Additionally, certificates were issued to 1.7 crore participants. The event also set another record, with at least 22,122 tribal students performing a mass Surya Namaskar. Guinness Book representatives present certificate to Lokesh Guinness Book of Records representatives presented the official certificate to IT and HRD Minister Nara Lokesh. The 11th International Day of Yoga (IYD) event in Visakhapatnam set a new Guinness World Record for the largest gathering for a yoga session at a single venue, with 3 lakh people participating in a mass yoga demonstration that stretched 28 kilometres from Visakhapatnam to Bhogapuram. Earlier, the Gujarat government had organised a mass yoga session with nearly 1.53 lakh participants in 2023. Now, the Andhra Pradesh government has successfully conducted a month-long series of mass yoga sessions across the state.

Kurnool: As V Narendra Kumarpart of the Government's vision for a 'Healthy, Prosperous and Happy Andhra Pradesh,' the flagship Yogandhra initiative has been successfully conducted in Kurnool district, registering the highest participation across the State. Marking the International Day of Yoga, the district administration organised a mass yoga session at the Kurnool Outdoor Stadium under the supervision of the Kurnool Municipal Corporation on Saturday.. District Collector P Ranjith Basha, Superintendent of Police Vikrant Patil, Joint Collector Dr B Navya, Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Babu, and several district officials, yoga practitioners, students, sanitation workers, employees, and women participated in the event. Addressing the gathering, Collector Basha said that the Chief Minister envisions a healthy, joyful, and prosperous society, and yoga plays a key role in achieving this goal. Highlighting the scale of participation, the Collector said Andhra Pradesh registered over 2.39 crore people for the Yogandhra initiative, with Kurnool alone contributing 12.76 lakh registrations—the highest in the state. Over the past month, various yoga-related activities and training sessions were conducted across the district in more than 5,287 venues, involving people from all walks of life. Competitions at village, mandal, and district levels were organized, with winners advancing to the state-level contests and receiving accolades from the administration. He urged every citizen to make yoga a regular part of daily life and informed that participation certificates are available for all attendees. Speaking on the occasion, Municipal Commissioner Ravindra Babu extended heartfelt gratitude to the students, women, officials, and citizens who actively took part in the program. Later, as part of the third Saturday 'Swachh Andhra - Swarna Andhra' initiative, the Collector led a cleanliness pledge and distributed saplings to promote environmental awareness. The event saw the presence of Kurnool RDO Sandeep Kumar, and educationist KV Subba Reddy, among others.

Vijayawada: It was a day of joyful unity and healthy activity for lakhs of schoolchildren across the state as they en-thusiastically celebrated International Yoga Day on Saturday. Schools buzzed with excitement from as early as 6 am, with students and teachers gathering to participate in various yoga sessions. Teachers took the opportunity to explain the importance of yoga for physical and mental well-being to the eager young participants. Following the yoga sessions, schools provided breakfast to the children before they joined the state-wide 'Yogandhra' programme. For this special occasion, school hours were adjusted from 6 am to 12 pm. The school Education department successfully organised Yogandhra across 61,266 government, private, and aided schools, witnessing the participation of nearly 60 lakh individuals, including students, teach-ers, school staff, School Management Committee (SMC) members, and parents. This massive event, with yoga performances by millions, marked a historic achievement for the state. B Srinivasa Rao, state project director of Samagra Shiksha, highlighted the significance of the event, stating that the mass participation across thousands of schools reflected the deep commitment of the education ecosystem to holistic student well-being. Director of school education V Vijay Ramaraju thanked everyone who contributed to the successful exe-cution of Yogandhra over the past month and ensured the grand observance of International Yoga Day. He specifically commended the dedicated efforts of nodal officers, department HoDs, RJDs, DEOs, APCs, MEOs, headmasters, teachers, physical education instructors, voluntary organisations, SMC, and PTA members, and parents, whose collective support made the initiative a resounding success.
