In the video of her new track True Blue, Genesis dressed as Maa Kali, a Hindu Goddess, sparking controversy over cultural and religious insensitivity. True Blue features Genesis in modern depiction of Goddess Kaali, the embodiment of destruction according to Hindu mythology. In the video, the rapper is seen with her body painted blue, adorned with a red bindi, and wearing traditional gold jewellery, including bangles, a maang tikka, and a necklace.
