In a recent Instagram Story, Alizeh Shah hit back at netizens who criticise her dressing. "Let's get one thing clear. I've worn sleeveless clothes, shorts, and skirts since I was a child. It's how I was raised," she said.
The actor added that her mother never forced her to follow "outdated ideas" of how a girl should dress. "[My mother] never imposed tradition on me. She raised me with love, not limitations. She saw me for the child I was, and the emotional, expressive woman I was becoming," Alizeh said.
The Taqdeer actor questioned the recent upsurge of outrage directed at her, expressing confusion over why it is happening now. She wondered if these reactions were prompted by her being honest about her dressing and not complying with someone else's standards of who she must be.
"This isn't about clothes. It's about control," she said. "I'm not here to be anyone's idea of 'acceptable'. I've worked for everything I have, and I don't need your permission. What's truly disturbing isn't my appearance - it's the obsession with tearing someone down just because they're visible. If my confidence bothers you, maybe ask yourself why."
Slamming double standards, Alizeh asserted that those who point out faults in women online must stop engaging with content from actors and influencers overall.
"Islam teaches us to reflect on our own actions before judging others. Telling a woman she must wear a burqa or leave her profession is not your role," she said. "Everyone is accountable to Allah, not to public opinion. Let people work and live with dignity. This world is hard enough - especially for women - so instead of policing them, focus on your own path."

Brittany Renner posts without hijab for first time in almost a year, sparks mixed reactions online

Brittany Renner, who recently confirmed her divorce from rapper Kevin Gates after just 52 days of marriage, took to Instagram to clarify her stance on several issues, including her journey with Islam and what seem s to be her decision to remove her hijab. Renner's whirlwind relationship with Gates, which started earlier this year, ended just over a month after their marriage, drawing attention due to the brevity of the union and her public conversion to Islam in January. In a recent Instagram post, Renner shared a video of herself without the hijab, accompanied by a message expressing her unwillingness to conform to others' expectations. The video featured a bold text overlay, which read, 'I'm not interested in shrinking myself to fit in anywhere.' In the caption, Renner reinforced her message, writing, "I don't have blind loyalty to any person, place, or thing. I also don't need excuses to do what I want to do because I accept whatever comes behind my decisions. It's still Alhamdulillah for everything! Hope this helps 👁️👄👁️." This post served as a statement of empowerment, showing her decision-making process and emphasizing personal autonomy over societal pressures. Renner's decision to publicly remove the hijab came shortly after she confirmed the details of her brief marriage to Gates. During an interview with Real 92.3 LA, Renner explained that the couple had married on April 6 and divorced on May 28. She also mentioned the Islamic 90-day waiting period required after a marriage, which allows for reconciliation or confirmation of pregnancy, but this period ended without them reconciling. According to Renner, this timeframe is meant to give couples a chance to reassess their relationship, and she used this period as a "90-day reset" to focus on herself. Despite the marriage's short duration, she stated that she had no regrets and was comfortable with her decisions, noting that Islam had made a positive impact on her life. Her decision to remove the hijab after converting to Islam earlier this year has generated mixed reactions on social media. Some people speculated that the move was tied to her divorce from Gates, while others defended her right to make her own choices. I try not to judge but the fact that Brittany Renner came out of that hijab soon as she broke up with Kevin Gates is insane lol. Islam is and will always be perfect, Muslims are not." This response highlighted the ongoing struggles that many Muslim women face regarding the hijab and expressed support for Renner's personal journey. Supporters on social media also applauded Renner for her honesty and self-empowerment, with one person commenting, 'The most beautiful part of getting to the destination is the journey! You're so beautiful girl.' Another added, 'Muslims don't always wear hijabs,' underscoring that wearing the hijab is a personal decision and not a requirement for every Muslim woman. Renner's candidness about her choices and her ongoing evolution has earned her admiration, with many expressing pride in her openness and resilience.

Khabib Nurmagomedov's sparks praise for Islamic commitment

During CBS's Champions League final broadcast, UFC icon Khabib Nurmagomedov once again found himself at the centre of cultural conversation—not for his undefeated record in the octagon, but for a quiet moment of religious adherence. As the post-match panel, hosted by sports anchor Kate Scott, reflected on Paris Saint-Germain's 5-0 demolition of Bayern Munich, Nurmagomedov joined the live set alongside YouTuber IShowSpeed. Greeted warmly by the panel including Jamie Carragher, Micah Richards, and Thierry Henry he offered firm handshakes all around. But when Scott extended hers, he respectfully declined. After refusing to shake hands with the female TV presenter, Thierry Henry should have refused to welcome Khabib Nurmagomedov. It would have been a powerful act # — Michaël Pilater (@mikapilater) June 1, 2025 What could have easily turned awkward was instead navigated with calm professionalism. Scott quickly offered a warm apology on-air. 'I apologise, thank you so much. Khabib, UFC fighter, it's a pleasure to have you,' she said, swiftly shifting the conversation to football. Viewers online quickly lauded Nurmagomedov for remaining true to his values. As a devout Sunni Muslim from Dagestan, he follows a tenet of Islam that forbids physical contact with women outside one's family. The act, to many, was more than etiquette; it was a visible expression of religious conviction. Khabib Nurmagomedov is a devout Muslim and a true ambassador of Islam. We admire you for upholding Islamic values, including your respectful stance on avoiding handshakes with women. Much respect, but I wish you were a Barca fan, brother! — Extraordinary Ustaz 👳🏾‍♂️📿 (@bapphah) June 1, 2025 Some people see boundaries as threats. While critics may view such decisions through a Western liberal lens, many others see in him a quiet dignity and unwavering spiritual compass. The moment has since drawn praise from Muslim viewers and conservative commentators, calling Nurmagomedov a 'true ambassador of Islam' in the global spotlight an athlete whose faith shapes not only his words, but his every action.
