Troopers searching for shooters in two Hillsborough road rage incidents
Troopers are investigating two separate shootings on Hillsborough County roads over the weekend.
The first incident happened just before 11 p.m. Friday, when a 25-year-old Tampa woman driving a Hyundai Veloster north on Interstate 75 spotted an erratic driver in a 2000s model Honda CR-V, according to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol.
The Honda veered into the woman's lane and she honked her horn to alert the driver, who fired at least one round at the Hyundai, hitting its right rear door, troopers said.
The woman drove away and called law enforcement. Troopers recovered the bullet from her door. The woman and her two passengers, a 23-year-old Tampa man and a 1-year-old child, were not injured in the shooting.
The shooter was described as 'a 25-year to 35-year-old heavy-set African American male with a short beard,' according to the release.
The second shooting happened about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Interstate 4.
A 34-year-old St. Petersburg man driving a Honda CR-V west near the Interstate 275 interchange saw a group of motorcyclists driving erratically with another unidentified vehicle, troopers said
The Honda driver began recording the motorcyclists with a cell phone. One of the motorcyclists fired several rounds from a handgun at the car. The driver was not injured.
The shooter was described as a white man 'with a medium build and wearing a jacket with a 'Outlaws MC' logo,' according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release.
Troopers asked anyone with information regarding either incident to call *FHP (*347) or send a tip through Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.

Two Carroll County men charged with string of car theft attempts around Penn Township
Two Carroll County men are facing charges related to a string of attempted vehicle robberies targeting Kia and Hyundai vehicles around Hanover and Westminster, according to police. Marc Rivera, 22, and Connor Pope, 19, both of Westminster, Maryland, face felony charges related to attempted vehicle thefts around the Hanover area, according to charges filed by the Penn Township Police Department on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Pope faces four felony counts of attempted theft by unlawful taking, charging documents stated. Rivera is charged with one felony count of attempted theft by unlawful taking, according to the documents in his case. Both Pope and Rivera have not yet been arraigned on the charges, and do not have a preliminary hearing scheduled as of Friday, June 20, 2025. According to charging documents filed against the pair, police began their investigation on May 28, 2025, after they were called around 7:34 p.m. for the attempted theft of a parked 2017 Kia Forte on the 900 block of Baltimore Street. At that scene, police found that the vehicle's window had been shattered, the steering column shroud was removed, and the ignition cylinder had been tampered with, the documents state. The vehicle sustained $5,407 of damage, and was disabled, the documents note. Surveillance footage, which was acquired by police from a nearby building, showed a second Kia Forte arrive in the parking lot, with a male suspect getting out of the passenger side of the suspect vehicle, then breaking the window on the parked vehicle and climbing inside. Several minutes later, that male is seen climbing back out and returning to the suspect vehicle, which then drives away, according to the affidavit. While investigating, police learned of a Be-On-Look-Out (BOLO) request put out by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office that day for a white Kia Forte that had been stolen near the scene of a rollover crash that day on Bachman Valley Road in Carroll County. The next day, on May 29, Penn Township police were called around 10:49 a.m. to Pinewood Circle for another attempted vehicle theft, the documents state. In that incident, police found a 2013 Kia Optima, which had reportedly been left unlocked, and also had a missing steering column shroud and its ignition lock cylinder tampered with. That vehicle, according to police, suffered $1,000 in damages. Several days later, around 6:50 a.m. on June 5, police were called to Hall Drive in the township for a third attempted vehicle theft, involving a 2016 Hyundai Tucson. That vehicle, which was locked, sustained a shattered window, and, like the others, a removed steering column shroud and damaged ignition lock cylinder. The damages in the third vehicle's case totaled around $2,534 according to the documents. A fourth attempted theft was later reported on Violet Drive in Penn Township on June 12, which resulted in a reportedly unlocked 2022 Hyundai Kona being disabled after experiencing similar damages to prior cases. Investigative efforts led police to identify Pope as a possible suspect in the attempted thefts, according to the documents, with Pope dating a juvenile who lived in the area of the thefts. After spotting Pope on Baltimore Street, Pope allegedly led police on a foot pursuit, and was taken into custody. During an interview with investigators from Penn Township, Westminster, and Carroll County, Pope allegedly admitted to officers that he had stolen vehicle in Westminster, which he then rolled on Bachman Valley Road on May 28. Then, Pope allegedly said, he stole a Kia Forte from the scene of the rollover crash, which he then had Rivera drive to the scene of the first attempt in Hanover, the documents state. Pope told investigators that Rivera was allegedly aware that the vehicle he was driving had been stolen, according to the charging documents. After the failed attempt on Baltimore Street, Rivera drove Pope to his girlfriend's house, and Rivera allegedly took the stolen vehicle back into Maryland. In the documents, police provide a description of how Pope allegedly explained his methods for stealing vehicles, with Pope telling officers he primarily targets Kia and Hyundai vehicles. Florida man's fateful decision to hide under truck from storm has tragic consequences
A man in Florida was run over and killed while he was sheltering from a storm beneath a vehicle in a parking lot, according to local police. Daniel Hodge, 53, was killed early on Monday after he hid beneath a parked vehicle to escape the rain. Police are not pursuing criminal charges against the driver related to Hodge's death, ClickOrlando reports. "The investigation into the death of Daniel J Hodge, which occurred on Monday, June 16, 2025, has concluded. No criminal charges are being pursued in this incident," police said in a statement. Police said that Hodge climbed beneath a commercial vehicle in the overnight hours between Sunday and Monday. About an hour after her slipped under the vehicle, the driver arrived at the parking and loaded into the vehicle. The driver pulled out of the parking lot unaware that Hodge was hiding beneath the vehicle's trailer. Hodge reportedly sustained fatal injuries as the vehicle was pulling out of the parking lot, according to police. Two days prior, another tragic accident claimed a life on a Florida roadway. In Orange County on Saturday, a 30-year-old trying to run across the Florida Turnpike was hit by two vehicles, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 9pm near SR 417, according to state troopers. The man reportedly sprinted from the woodline directly into the southbound lanes of the Turnpike. He was hit by a Toyota Highlander and a Chevy Silverado, FOX 35 reports. The man was from Hollywood, Florida. Police have not released his name or a reason why he might have rushed out into busy turnpike traffic.

YouTube profits from Andrew Tate content despite banning him from platform
YouTube still profits from Andrew Tate, despite banning him from their platform, new research has revealed. The Center for Countering Digital Hate has found that videos of the self-described misogynist are still amassing millions of views on YouTube, where they feature profit-generating adverts and are easily accessible to viewers as young as 13 years old. Tate, who currently faces multiple charges for rape and human trafficking in the UK, continues to be propelled by guest appearances on podcasts and fan-made videos on the platform despite being banned since 2022. The organisation identified that 100 of the most-viewed YouTube videos of the manosphere influencer, which promoted misogyny and were posted over the last year, racked up a total of nearly 54 million views. Two-thirds of these videos were made by Andrew Tate 'fan accounts'. Over half of these videos violated YouTube's policies on hate speech, and nearly a third violated YouTube's policies while carrying adverts from big brands, the research said. All of these videos were accessible to viewers aged 13 and over in the UK and US, while 98 of them were viewable to those of the same age group in Ireland and Germany. These clips were made widely accessible as YouTube had auto-translated captions into multiple languages for 97 of them. Researchers found both in-stream and in-feed adverts from big brands such as Hyundai and Olay served next to or on videos, which featured Tate promoting misogynistic claims and breaching the video-sharing platform's hate speech guidelines. This is despite YouTube's policy that channels seeking monetisation follow platform Community Guidelines, including policies on hate speech. In one video, where Tate said of women 'You want her to submit - become someone she wants to follow. You want her loyalty - build a life she doesn't want to lose', an advert from Lavazza featured in-feed, as a thumbnail next to video content. While in-stream adverts play before, during or after videos and can be skipped, in-feed video adverts appear as thumbnails next to video content. There is no suggestion brands agreed to have their advertisements displayed next to content featuring Tate. YouTube originally banned Tate from the platform after his content was found in violation of its policies. Researchers found that 58 of the videos surveyed clearly violated the hate speech policy, which stipulates that they won't allow 'content that promotes violence or hatred against individuals or groups based on [...] attributes' such as sex or gender, including slurs and stereotypes. While the remaining videos didn't violate the guidelines, they did all include overt misogyny, the organisation said. Imran Ahmed, chief executive of the Center for Countering Digital Hate, warned that YouTube had created a system that profits off Tate's 'dangerous persona while benefitting from the illusion that his content is banned' despite recognising that the controversial figure consistently violates their own rules. 'The platform does not appear to be taking action to address this predictable tactic for keeping Tate's misogynistic messaging in the limelight and in the feeds of 13-year-old kids. Instead, YouTube is reportedly rolling back content moderation policies, making the platform even less safe for its users.' He called on UK and EU regulators to intervene and hold tech giants accountable as they 'knowingly profit from the spread of hate and harm.' A YouTube spokesperson told The Independent: 'Andrew Tate's channels were terminated in 2022. Since then, we've removed hundreds of thousands of videos and terminated thousands of channels that have attempted to circumvent that original decision. 'But as with all terminated users, not all content that features Andrew Tate will be removed. Only 11 videos from the CCDH report were shared with us to review - the majority have been removed for violating our Terms of Service, and we've terminated a number of the featured channels.' Andrew and his brother Tristan have denied a total of 21 charges of rape and human trafficking between them authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service. A European arrest warrant was issued for the brothers in 2024, but ongoing criminal matters in Romania have taken priority. The pair are due to be extradited to the UK following the conclusion of proceedings in Romania.
