KHALIEF CANTY JR. WILL BE THE TALK OF THE RIVALS FIVE-STAR
Every year there is a prospect that comes to the Rivals Five-Star who is still a little unknown but by the time he leaves the event everyone knows his name. Last year, a strong candidate for that honor was Michigan commit Avery Gach. The offensive lineman was great at camp and had everyone buzzing.

This year I believe that player will be Khalief Canty Jr. He has a real mean streak on the field and a powerful punch to keep defenders at bay. He'll get to show his stuff against some of the best defensive linemen in the nation. He will also decide between Michigan State and Missouri with us at the event so we'll see who wins the Big Ten versus SEC battle.

ILLINOIS WILL HAVE A BIG WEEK
The Illini have already nabbed a pair of commitments this week with the additions of Jaylen Stewart and Kayden Bennett but more could be on the horizon.

Nick Hankins announces on Thursday and it seems to be down to Illinois versus Missouri for his pledge. There could be a late surprise but the Illini should feel confident here.
Kai Pritchard, the offensive tackle from New Jersey, could come off the board on Wednesday. He'd be a great addition to the nice offensive line class that coach Bret Bielema is putting together.
Another prospect to keep an eye on is nickel Isaiah Williams. The versatile defensive back out of Texas racked up 34 scholarship offers and the Illini have locked in on him to be part of their future defense.
Commitments have come in waves for Illinois this cycle and another big one could be coming to Champaign.

OREGON WILL HEAT UP ON THE TRAIL SOON

Take a snapshot of the recruiting standings right now because you aren't likely to see it again. Oregon is sitting in 12th place in the Big Ten with just eight commits for the 2026 class.
But that could all change soon.
Oregon has had some high-profile misses this cycle that isn't like coach Dan Lanning and company. But there are some blue-chip talents that could have decisions soon that the Ducks are heavily involved with.
Five-star quarterback Ryder Lyons is still out there and the Ducks are in a battle for his pledge. Five-star Alabama edge defender Anthony Jones could combine with five-star Richard Wesley for a dynamic pass rush duo. That's if the Ducks can also get Wesley back in the class. California four-star cornerback Davon Benjamin is leaning toward the Ducks.

Oregon is a finalist for elite defensive lineman Deuce Geralds but players of his caliber are so hard to pull out of the South.
I'm predicting that Oregon will go on a big run to close the month.

Raleigh homers twice, breaks Bench's record in the Mariners' victory over the Cubs
CHICAGO — Cal Raleigh broke Johnny Bench's record for home runs by a catcher before the All-Star break, hitting his major league-leading 28th and 29th in the Seattle Mariners' 9-4 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday. Raleigh broke a tie in the seventh with No. 29 to move ahead of Hall of Famer Bench's 1970 mark. Raleigh needed only 73 games to break the record that Bench set in 87 games. DeGrom (7-2) retired the first 11 batters and allowed two runs and five hits in six innings with one walk. One day after his 37th birthday, the two-time Cy Young Award winner extended his franchise record to 12 consecutive starts of allowing two runs or fewer and five hits or fewer. After being injured for most of the past four seasons, deGrom is 3-0 with a 1.80 ERA in four June starts. Seager homered with one out in the fifth inning off rookie Mike Burrows (1-2), a drive to right field to increase the Rangers' lead to 4-2. The five-time All-Star shortstop had gone 81 plate appearances without a home run while also being on the injured list from May 11-27 with a strained right hamstring. Burrows lasted 4 2/3 innings and gave up four runs on seven hits. ORIOLES 5, YANKEES 3 NEW YORK — Ramón Urías hit a go-ahead solo home run in the eighth inning against Luke Weaver, spoiling the New York reliever's return, as Baltimore topped the Yankees. Urías snapped a 3-3 tie when he drove a full-count pitch into the right field seats for a 337-foot drive. The ball went over Aaron Judge's leaping try, off a fan's shirt and into the first row of the seats. Weaver (1-2) returned from missing 17 games with a strained left hamstring and gave up his third homer this season. He gave up two runs and two hits in two-thirds of an inning. After Weaver exited, Gunnar Henderson's pinch-hit RBI single off Tim Hill put Baltimore up 5-3. WHITE SOX 7, BLUE JAYS 1 TORONTO — Luis Robert Jr. hit a two-run homer in Chicago's four-run third inning and the White Sox beat Toronto to end an eight-game losing streak. Josh Rohas had a two-run double in the third for Chicago. Andrew Benintendi had a solo home run in the first and added an RBI single in the second. It was a double-bullpen game, with both teams trotting out a handful of relief pitchers with no starters available. Dan Altavilla, Wikelman Gonzalez and Tyler Gilbert also came out of the bullpen, with Gonzalez allowing a run. Luke Weaver allows go-ahead homer in Yankees' 5-3 loss to Orioles after being activated from IL
Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Luke Weaver felt fine about everything in his return for the New York Yankees — except the fastball Ramon Urias hit for a go-ahead homer in the eighth inning. Weaver was activated from the injured list Friday, but his first game back from a strained left hamstring was spoiled when Urías poked a full-count 96.4 mph fastball into the first row of the right field seats for the Baltimore Orioles. 'I feel great,' Weaver said after taking the loss in the Yankees' 5-3 defeat. 'The only thing that hurts is my heart and mind. So, at the end of the day, my leg feels great. The velocity's there. All the pitches are there. So, I had everything I needed to be successful. It's just a game which (it) didn't happen.' After jogging in from the bullpen to the 'Imperial March' from Star Wars and Gary Wright's 'Dreamweaver,' Weaver got ahead with his fastball and changeup. He threw two changeups to even the count and another fastball for a full-count. On the next pitch, Urías hit a 337-foot jump that just went over the leaping try of Aaron Judge and deflected off a fan's shirt in the first row. Following the homer, Weaver struck out Colton Cowser but walked Gary Sanchez and allowed a single to pinch-hitter Ryan O'Hearn. After Dylan Carlson lined out, Tim Hill allowed a RBI single to pinch-hitter Gunnar Henderson. Weaver gave up two runs and two hits in two-thirds of an inning. It was the third homer allowed in 25 appearances for the right-hander, who missed 17 games. 'I don't think that far off,' Yankees manager Aaron Boone said of Weaver. 'They just took advantage of some pitches.' Weaver was injured while warming up before a game against the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 1 at Dodger Stadium. After being placed on the injured list, the Yankees thought Weaver might be out until early July or through the All-Star break. Instead, Weaver began feeling better quickly and said the pain disappeared shortly after the injury. He took his final steps in his rehab by throwing a simulated game Tuesday after throwing three side sessions. Weaver has a 1.71 ERA with eight saves in nine opportunities in 25 appearances. He ascended into the closer's role by converting six saves in seven chances after Devin Williams posted an 11.25 ERA in his first 10 appearances and was removed from that spot on April 27. 'I kind of look at (it) with him and Devin like we got two elite guys back there, obviously with how well Devin's been throwing the ball the last month,' Boone said Friday before the game. A 31-year-old who can become a free agent after the season, Weaver supplanted Clay Holmes as closer last September. From May 20-22, Weaver became the first Yankees pitcher to make appearance on three consecutive regular-season days since Aroldis Chapman in September 2021 — though Weaver's first outing in that stretch lasted just two pitches, and the three totaled 18. Williams converted all four save chances while Weaver was injured and has a 1.76 ERA in his last 16 appearances since May 5. The Yankees cleared room for Weaver by optioning Jayvien Sandridge to Triple-A Scranton Wilkes/Barre. Caitlin Clark and Napheesa Collier lead early fan-voting for WNBA All-Star Game
Indiana star Caitlin Clark has an early lead in the fan voting for next month's WNBA All-Star Game, the league announced Friday. The guard received 515,993 votes and was followed by Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier, who garnered 484,758 votes. There were three other Indiana players in the top 10 with Aliyah Boston third, Kelsey Mitchell seventh and Lexie Hull ninth. This year's game will be played in Indiana on July 19. A'ja Wilson of Las Vegas and Breanna Stewart of New York were fourth and fifth in the balloting, respectively. The two were the captains for the All-Star Game in 2022 and 2023. Sabrina Ionescu, Stewart's teammate, was eighth, while rookies Paige Bueckers of Dallas, in sixth, and Kiki Iriafen of Washington, in 10th, rounded out the top 10. Fan voting ends on June 28 and accounts for 50% of the overall vote. Current players and a media panel each account for 25%. The top four guards and six frontcourt players with the best overall score between the three groups are honored as starters for the All-Star Game. The league's coaches choose the 12 reserve players. The two starters who receive the most fan votes will be the captains of the game and choose their All-Star teams with the results announced on July 8. This year's contest will have the traditional format of two teams playing against each other. Last season was a matchup of the USA Olympic team playing against an All-Star team.
