Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi
stunned fans when they decamped to the U.K. after the 2024 election, promising to never again do business in the US
real estate market
.
The couple's recent decision to remove their
Los Angeles mansion
from the market suggests they still consider the US to be home. The seasoned house flippers aren't finished with American life after all.
According to a recent report, Ellen DeGeneres and
Portia de Rossi
might not be remaining in the UK as long as fans had anticipated.

Why did they pull the L.A. mansion off the market?
Ellen DeGeneres
and Portia de Rossi have been in the news a lot this year because of their actions in the UK and their apparent break with the US.

SFGate claims that the couple owns one last property in Los Angeles. The two paid $29 million for Tom Ford's former residence, which had five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, back in late 2022.
Live Events
After the house was renovated, they listed it for $33.9 million. Although many believed it had been sold, it was taken off the market.
It was only taken out in August 2024, and they listed it for $29.99 million earlier this year, which is less than a million dollars more than they paid for it.
In May 2025, however, they took their last remaining US home off the market, according to a Realtor.
Apparently, the reversal suggests they could use it as a part-time base instead of selling it at a loss. This has led to speculation that they might return to the US, even if only temporarily, as per a report by SheKnows.
How does this fit their long history of house flipping?
DeGeneres and Rossi first crossed paths at a Rock the Vote show in 2001. Nevertheless, it wasn't until 2004 that they finally met.
Rossi was with singer Francesca Gregorini when they reconnected in 2004, while DeGeneres was with photographer Alexandra Hedison. But they began dating after they parted ways with their respective partners.
They were married in August 2008 and have been together since then.
The two have experience purchasing and selling homes. Many people are speculating about the amount; some believe it to be in the 20s, while others believe it may be as high as 60.
FAQs
Are Ellen and Portia actually returning to the United States?
This is not confirmed. Pulling the listing indicates they are keeping options open, either waiting for a better price or planning to live stateside part-time.
Could the house be resold later?
The couple often relists properties when the market shifts, so another sales attempt or quiet off-market deal is still a possibility.

National Selfie Day 2025: Origins The film camera was invented in 1885 and since then humans have always been fascinated by capturing their own image. When digital photography became popular in the 1990s and early 2000s, it made taking self-portraits easier and affordable than using film cameras. Then, around 2005, camera phones, digital cameras, and social media all came together and that's when the 'selfie" became more than just a new word. It turned into a global craze. The credit for the first selfie goes to Robert Cornelius, an American chemist and early photography pioneer. In 1839, he used the daguerreotype method to capture the first intentional self-portrait, which took around 10–15 minutes to develop. The selfie has evolved as quickly as photography itself, with many artists shaping and redefining self-portraiture over the past 181 years. From lesser-known yet highly talented figures like Vivian Maier to pop culture faces like Andy Warhol, tracing the roots of today's selfie takes us on a fascinating journey through history. However, it wasn't until the early 2000s that photography and therefore selfies, became widely accessible to the public with the arrival of the first camera phones. Following the rising trend in 2014, the BBC officially declared June 21 as National Selfie Day. Soon after, the Oxford English Dictionary added the word 'selfie' to its list of entries.
