Wrexham Warriors headed to Aberystwyth to compete for the Terry Price Cup against the champions from South Wales.
After triumphing in Division Two this season, Wrexham were hoping to continue their success story and they did just that with a 90-41 triumph over AFC Gwent.
Other North Wales sides who headed to Aberystwyth for their national match-ups were Dreigiau Caernarfon Gwyn (U14s), Bromborough Bulldogs (U16s), Dreigiau Caernarfon (U18s) and senior Division One champions Mold Magic.
A week earlier and it was a big day in the North Wales basketball calendar as teams congregated at Bangor University's Brailsford Centre to compete for the NWBA Swish Cup, sponsored by Swish Basketball Coaching.
Teams from Dreigiau Caernarfon, Mold Magic, Wrexham Warriors, Ynys Mon Celts and Cheshire Raptors competed in a round-robin tournament.
From the first tip Mold Magic and Dreigiau Caernarfon Gwyn dominated their games. It was great to see the under-14s competing on Bangor's two courts and parents supporting from the balconies and benches.
Who would raise the cup went down to the last game on court two, where Mold and Caernarfon exchanged baskets, taking the game into golden basket overtime.
Mold were able to sink the first basket in extra time, gifting them the trophy. Dreigiau Caernarfon Gwyn received their runner-up medals before Mold Magic celebrated receiving the Swish Trophy.

Jofra Archer to make red-ball return for Sussex in clash with Durham

The England fast bowler's appearance in the Division One clash at the Banks Homes Riverside, starting on Sunday, will be his first red-ball outing in more than four years following a litany of injuries. He was surprisingly absent when Sussex announced a 12-strong squad to travel to Chester-le-Street on their website, raising concerns the 30-year-old had suffered another frustrating injury setback. But the England and Wales Cricket Board later clarified Archer was among Sussex's contingent for the contest. It is the latest and arguably most important staging post in a carefully managed return to action, with the aim of preparing Archer for a Test comeback in England's marquee series against India this summer. If Archer comes through unscathed at Chester-le-Street, he may be primed for the third Test at Lord's – where he has plenty of history – from July 10-14, having earned the last of his 13 caps in February 2021. Archer bowled England to victory in the 2019 World Cup final at the home of cricket, where he began his Test career weeks later in the 2023 Ashes, engaging in a gripping duel with Australia's Steve Smith. How highly he is regarded by England has been underlined by him being on a full central contract since then, despite stress reactions in his elbow and back limiting him to ODIs and T20s in recent years.

Emma Raducanu handed tough draw at Eastbourne on return from back injury

The 22-year-old has been troubled by the issue since competing at Strasbourg in May ahead of the French Open. Former US Open champion Raducanu took an off-court medical timeout during her quarter-final loss to Zheng Qinwen at Queen's Club last week, after which it was confirmed she would miss the Berlin Open, having been offered a wild card into the WTA 500 event. All set on the South Coast 🌤️ Draws for the Brits & preview of the #LexusEastbourneOpen 👇 — LTA (@the_LTA) June 21, 2025 Raducanu had instead looked to prioritise rest and recovery to ensure she is fully fit for Wimbledon, which begins on June 30. At last year's LTA event on the south coast, Raducanu claimed a first victory over a top-10 player by defeating Jessica Pegula before going on to make the fourth round at Wimbledon. Seeded seventh in the draw for Eastbourne, Raducanu has been handed a first-round match against American Ann Li. Should Raducanu progress through the top half of the draw, she could then come up against two-time Wimbledon runner-up Ons Jabeur in the second round. Defending Eastbourne champion Daria Kasatkina, the Australian world number 16, is also a potential opponent in the quarter-finals. Speaking about her fitness issues after playing at Queen's, Raducanu said: 'It's been lingering for the last few weeks and I have had back issues before. 'I think it's just a vulnerability of mine. I know I need to take good care of it. 'I'm not overly concerned that it's something serious, but I know it's something that's very annoying and needs proper and careful management.' Raducanu spent the afternoon at Queen's, watching US Open doubles partner Carlos Alcaraz as he looked to secure a spot in the final.
