Man held, nearly 70kg of ganja seized in Taman Melawati

KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man suspected of being a drug dealer and seized 69.82 kilogrammes of ganja during a raid at a house in Taman Melawati last Thursday.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) acting director DCP Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali said police discovered 66 compressed packages of ganja, worth RM216,457, in a Toyota Vellfire during the search of the house.
He said the 44-year-old suspect, believed had been active since November last year and has two prior records related to crime and drug offences.
'Further investigation revealed that the drugs were smuggled in from a neighbouring country through the Perlis border before being transported to the Klang Valley for distribution in the local market,' he said in a statement today.
Mat Zani said his team had also taken action under the Dangerous Drugs (Forfeiture of Property) Act 1988 by seizing a Ducati motorcycle belonging to the suspect, valued at approximately RM29,500, bringing the total value of the seizure to RM245,957.
'The results of the initial screening test showed that the suspect tested negative for drugs. He has been remanded for seven days until June 5 to assist in investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,' he added.

Police found 10 boxes containing 4,958 vape cartridges in the MPV. The cartridges were filled with 9.42 litres of liquid containing cocaine, with an estimated street value of RM7.29 million. Mat Zani said the syndicate had been operating since March from a luxury condominium unit they rented for RM300 a night in the city centre. The condo served as their base for packaging the vapes before distributing them overseas. He said the drugs were believed to have been smuggled into the country through a southern state. 'We believe the syndicate had used Malaysia as a transit point to smuggle drugs abroad through courier services. Each vape cartridge had 1.9ml (of cocaine), sold at RM1,500, and was good for 100 puffs. 'This is the latest threat to our country since cocaine is hard to acquire in Southeast Asia,' he said, adding that he believed the vapes were also being sold among the 'elites' in the country. One of the four suspects tested positive for ketamine, and two of them had criminal records for drug offences. They have been remanded until June 26 to assist in the investigations.

RM7.2 million cocaine vape cartridge bust in Ampang Jaya arrest

'The drugs in question are estimated to be worth RM7.2 million, and the investigation found that the syndicate used Malaysia as a transit point before shipping them via air courier services to international markets,' he said at a press conference in Bukit Aman today. According to Mat Zani, initial investigations found that the syndicate involved, believed to have been active since March, rented an Airbnb condominium unit in Ampang for RM300 per day as a location for processing and packaging cocaine cartridges for the overseas market. 'Each vape cartridge containing 1.9 ml of cocaine liquid can be sold at a price of around RM1,500 per unit in the international market, considering that this type of cocaine is difficult to obtain in the Southeast Asian region due to its high price and is usually used by the elite,' he said.
