Sir Rod Stewart promises ‘sexy' show for Glastonbury

The Scottish singer, who will take to the Pyramid stage for the coveted Sunday tea-time legends slot later this month, also revealed his appearance will cost him financially, but said it 'doesn't matter'.
Sir Rod told the Radio Times that as he has been carrying out a concert residency in Las Vegas, he will have to pay to ship all his equipment back to the UK for the festival.
'It's going to cost me £300,000 to do it and they only pay you about 120,000 quid,' he said.
Sir Rod, who has already revealed that his former Faces bandmate Ronnie Wood will join him on stage, said he will have three different guests coming on, plus an orchestra.
'I'm really looking forward to it,' he added.
'And it is a different gig. It's like when you're playing a cup final: you're trying to treat it like another game. But, of course, it's not. It's special.
'It'll be glamorous, it'll be sexy.
'And we've got a little orchestra coming on to play with us.
'And we may have some bagpipes…'
Earlier this month, Sir Rod announced that he had cancelled or postponed a number of his US concerts after suffering from flu.
'I have to cancel and reschedule my next six concerts in June as I continue to recover from the flu,' he wrote on Instagram.
'So sorry my friends.
'I'm devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans.
'I'll be back on stage and will see you soon.'
Sir Rod will take to the Pyramid stage on Sunday June 29.
The 80-year-old has previously said he was only due to play for an hour and a quarter, but has begged to be allowed to play for an extra 15 minutes so he can fit more songs into his set.
In 2024 he promised he would not retire but confirmed his 2025 European and North American shows would bring an end to his 'large-scale world tours'.
Sir Rod's best known solo songs include Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?, Every Beat Of My Heart, and Maggie May.
Last month he was presented with a prestigious lifetime achievement award by five of his children at the American Music Awards (AMAs).

The old adage of 'if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life' seems true in the couple's case. They still have the travel bug and are hugely excited by their trips. Part of that means pushing themselves to engage with people they meet along the way. "We have this rule that whenever we're on the plane, we have to speak to the person next to us. One guy told us 'do what excites you'. Six years later, we still tell ourselves that. We call it Conrad's message." ‌ The couple also recommends running every day and practicing good communication for travelling couples who want to avoid arguments while on the road. In terms of finding inspiration, they recommend using the adjustable 'For You' feed on TikTok. Scots boy, 7, runs 100 miles to raise money for brother's first wheelchair

A Scottish boy took on the challenge of running 100 miles to help raise money for his sibling's first wheelchair. Theo Hardie's little brother Jude was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus and has undergone a series of operations. Although healthy, Jude has limited use of his legs. When he was five, Theo challenged himself to cycle 100 miles to and from nursery to raise money for the Spina Bifida Hydrocephalus charity. He set out to raise £1,000 for the charity but quickly smashed that target, raising a total of £2,043. After his success, Theo told his mum he wanted to raise funds to buy Jude a wheelchair by challenging himself to run 100 miles. 'I felt bad because he didn't get to join in on as much stuff, so I thought, I'll go for that wheelchair to have fun,' Theo told STV News. STV News Jude with parents Taylor and Craig. Theo and Jude's mum, Taylor Hardie, said the wheelchair has had a 'massive impact' on Jude. 'It's great just seeing him in the garden playing, and he's able to have so much independence,' she said. Theo says that Jude having a wheelchair means they can always be together. 'It will mean that I can just have him next to me at all times. The seven-year-old is now back on his bike, raising money to buy Jude a trike so they can go out together. 'I'm looking forward to seeing him get that achievement because I think he really deserves it, he's been such a good big brother and gone that extra mile,' Craig added.
