Rod Stewart celebrates 18th wedding anniversary with Penny Lancaster

Rod Stewart and his wife Penny Lancaster marked their 18th wedding anniversary with a trip down memory lane as they took the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express from Paris to Venice It's full steam ahead for Sir Rod Stewart, as the legendary singer put his recent health battles behind him to enjoy a luxury train ride with Penny Lancaster. The Glastonbury headliner, who cancelled a string of gigs earlier this month, looked dapper in pink as he celebrated 18 years of marriage with his wife. Sir Rod, who will play the Sunday teatime legend slot at Worthy Farm next week, and Loose Women star Penny looked happier than ever as they took a lavish trip down memory lane on Thursday. ‌ The Maggie May singer, 80, and the model, 54, started dating in 1999 before getting engaged in Paris in 2005 and tying the knot at the medieval monastery La Cervara in Portofino in 2007. ‌ Following their nuptials on 16 June 2007, the couple spent their honeymoon on the Lady Ann Magee yacht, which was anchored in Portofino. To celebrate their anniversary, the couple retraced their steps to these memorable locations by taking the the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Penny, dressed in a pink floral ensemble to complement Sir Rod's pink blazer, gave fans a glimpse of their romantic break on social media. Uploading some snaps from their trip to Instagram, Penny captioned the sweet pictures: "Entering a bygone era @vsoetrain from Paris where we got engaged to Portofino where we got married 18 years ago, it's totally magical Sir Rod Stewart xxxx." Sir Rod's anniversary comes as the iconic singer hits out at his one-time pal and neighbour, President Donald Trump. The dad-of-eight once rubbed shoulders with the businessman-turned-politician, but now finds him off his festive greeting list. ‌ The Hot Legs hitmaker shares a neighbourhood with Trump's Florida estate and was a regular at the Trumps' soirees. However, it seems their once-close bromance has fizzled out thanks to Trump's support of Israel. In a candid chat, Sir Rod revealed that their properties are less than a mile apart, yet he's "not a great fan" of the divisive President. Despite finding some of Trump's traits appealing, Sir Rod expressed his discontent with several aspects of Trump's behaviour, particularly during his time in office. "I'm not a great fan of Trump. I knew him very, very well. I used to go to his house," Sir Rod confessed. He elaborated: "I live literally half a mile away." ‌ In an interview with Radio Times, he disclosed: "We're both on the beach. I used to go to his Christmas parties. He's always been a bit of a man's man. I liked him for that. But he didn't, as far as I'm concerned, treat women very well." Yet, according to Sir Rod, Trump's ascent to the presidency marked a drastic transformation. "He became another guy. Somebody I didn't know," he remarked. Whether there's room for a thaw in their frosty relations remains to be seen. Sir Rod declared: "No, I can't anymore. As long as he's selling arms to the Israelis - and he still is. How's that war ever gonna stop?"

Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster 'held responsible' for 'collapse' of star's proposal

More info Sir Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster have humorously been accused of ruining a Heart Radio presenter's engagement plans. The couple celebrated their 18th wedding anniversary this week, by hopping on the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express to revisit the spots where they got engaged, tied the knot, and honeymooned. Back in 2005, after six years of dating, Rod proposed to Loose Women's Penny at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. They exchanged vows two years later Portofino, Italy, which was followed by a luxury yacht-based honeymoon off the coast. On Heart Radio's Breakfast Show on Friday, Jamie Theakston light-heartedly blamed Rod for derailing his own proposal plan to his now wife Sophie. Shortly after the singer's engagement was announced, Jamie remembered him and his then girlfriend being on their way to Paris by train, whom he planned to propose to. (Image: INSTAGRAM/PENNYLANCASTER) Speaking to his co-stars Amanda Holden and Ashley Roberts, he said he envisioned proposing at the Eiffel Tower, just like Rod did. "I thought the Eiffel Tower might be romantic, at the Eiffel Tower, on one knee, pop the question, job done," he shared. "It was a beautiful weekend, the sun was shining, we'd been to Paris a couple of times before, so it was a special place." Jamie went on to say that he was already "nervous" about the engagement ring through customs without Sophie noticing, which he thankfully managed to pull off. What happened next however forced him to reconsider his proposal strategy. He explained: "Anyway, she's reading a copy of Hello! Magazine, she goes, 'OMG. Do you know Rod Stewart has just got engaged to Penny Lancaster?' I said, 'Oh, really?' "She said, 'How naff is this, they did it in Paris on the Eiffel Tower'." (Image: INSTAGRAM/JAMIETHEAKSTON) After Amanda and Ashley expressed shock, he went on to say he contemplated abandoning the plan entirely. Later on in their trip, he chose to instead propose in a more intimate setting, their hotel room. "It wasn't as special as it might've been. So essentially, I hold Rod and Penny personally responsible for the complete collapse of my wedding proposal," he quipped. Despite the proposal not going exactly as planned, the most important thing was that Sophie happily said "yes". They later exchanged vows in Ditchling, Sussex and went on to become parents to two sons; Sidney, 17, and Kit, 16. As for Rod, Penny is his third wife and they have also two sons together; Alastair, 19, and Aiden, 14. The Maggie May singer is a father to eight children in total, including; Sarah, 61, Kimberly, 45, Sean, 44, Ruby, 38, Renee, 33, Liam, 30. Before Penny, he was married to Alana Stewart from 1979 to 1984, followed by Rachel Hunter from 1990 to 2006.

Rod Stewart launches blistering attack against former pal Donald Trump

Sir Rod Stewart has never shied away from sharing what's really on his mind, and now his former pal and neighbour, none other than President Donald Trump, has come under fire Sir Rod Stewart has furiously hit out at his former friend and neighbour, President Donald Trump – and he didn't hold back. The legendary rockstar who is currently preparing to play the iconic Legends Slot at Glastonbury Festival this month had previously partied with the reality star turned President, but he's no longer on his Christmas card list. Rod, 80, has a home neighbouring Trump's estate in Florida, and would often attend events held by Donald and his wife, Melania, but nowadays, it's safe to say that they're no longer on speaking terms. ‌ In a new interview, the Maggie May singer said that their estates are less than a mile apart, but he's "not a great fan" of the controversial President. While there are aspects of Trump that Rod liked, there are a few things that have angered him over the years, including his presidency. ‌ "I'm not a great fan of Trump. I knew him very, very well. I used to go to his house," Sir Rod said. He went on to add: "I live literally half a mile away." Speaking to Radio Times, he continued: "We're both on the beach. I used to go to his Christmas parties. He's always been a bit of a man's man. I liked him for that. But he didn't, as far as I'm concerned, treat women very well." However, Sir Rod believes that since becoming President, Trump has completely changed. "He became another guy. Somebody I didn't know," he stated. But could he possibly reconsider his views on Donald and become friends again? Sir Rod said: "No, I can't anymore. As long as he's selling arms to the Israelis — and he still is. How's that war ever gonna stop?" One thing is for certain, though: Rod is going to be pulling out all the stops for his Legends performance. Glastonbury bosses had initially given him a slot of an hour and a quarter, but he pleaded with them to add an extra 15 minutes as his performances are normally around two hours. ‌ Speaking about this, he explained: "It means that there's a lot of songs that people love that I won't be able to play – and I've got three guests coming on." Rod previously revealed he's planning a mini-reunion with his band, Faces. Rolling Stones icon Ronnie Wood will be heading to Worthy Farm in Somerset to join him on stage. Speaking on The Peter Crouch podcast, when asked if he's in touch with The Stones or Sir Elton John, he responded: "Not really, but Woody and I do a lot just recently because we are going to do Glastonbury together." Fans, however, had been concerned ahead of Rod's performance after he was force to pull out of several of his Las Vegas shows due to ill health. Earlier this month, he told fans on social media: "I'm awfully sorry to have to cancel my show June 5th at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace. My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu. Thanks for your love and understanding. – Rod," as he signed off with a broken heart emoji.

Rod Stewart shares eye-watering Glastonbury cost he will need to pay out of his own pocket

The Maggie May rocker, 80, is set to perform at the Legends slot act in Glastonbury 2025, joining a star-studded line-up of other acts. Sir Rod Stewart has revealed how much he will pocket following his highly-anticipated slot at Glastonbury festival later this year. However, despite bosses dishing out a substantial sum he's left with a sore bill. He has been touring across the US, meaning it's going to cost a hefty sum to transport his crew, staging and equipment back for the festival, set to take place at the end of this month. ‌ The rock legend, 80, will return to one of the biggest musical festivals in Somerset for the first time in over two decades. Rod last performed on the Pyramid stage 23 years ago. ‌ Maggie May rocker Rod will be joined by a stellar line-up of acts as he performs as this year's Legends slot. He has opened up on his Glastonbury comeback in a new interview. Rod claimed he would receive £120,000 from festival bosses but it will set him back £300,000 to take to the stage early in the evening on Sunday, June 29. Speaking to the Radio Times, Sir Rod said: "It was about eight months ago when I was asked to do it, maybe a little longer. But it didn't fit with my schedule because I've got to bring everybody back from America. "It's going to cost me £300,000 to do it and they only pay you about 120,000 quid. So it's going to cost me." However the hefty cost didn't appear to phase the Celtic-daft rocker, who was adamant it "doesn't matter" if he ends up out of pocket for the prized slot. ‌ It comes as he revealed that he will only play for one hour and 15 minutes. Rod claims he "begged" festival bosses for an extra 15 minutes as he usually performs for two hours, however his request was denied. Other Glastonbury headliners for the highly-anticipated 2025 show include The 1975, Neil Young, Olivia Rodrigo, Charli XCX, Doechii, The Prodigy and Alanis Morissette. ‌ Sir Rod was recently forced to cancel six more shows from his US tour after coming down with the flu. Announcing the news on Instagram last week, the hitmaker said that he would be cancelling four US tour dates and rescheduling two others. He wrote: "So sorry my friends. I'm devastated and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to my fans. I'll be back on stage and will see you soon," alongside a heartbroken emoji. The multiple cancellations come after he was put on vocal rest between performances last month. Sir Rod has said he is planning to stop large-scale world tours at the end of this year.
