Lorraine Kelly's showbiz guru Ross King couldn't resist making a cheeky swipe at Meghan Markle as he revealed the Duchess of Sussex's latest business news
An ITV star on Lorraine couldn't resist making a cheeky remark about Meghan Markle at the start of the show.
As he introduced the Hollywood news segment, LA correspondent Ross King sprung a surprise with what he termed "shocking news".
The conversation steered towards Meghan's decision to scale back on the products she had earlier marketed this year.
Initiating the topic with a light-hearted reference, he said, "Let's not mention jam, let's say it was spread," referring to the Duchess's popular jams that were snapped up within minutes upon their debut.
Making a playful jest, he added: "Meghan Markle spread... That in itself sounds somewhat ruder than I thought it was going to be."
Ross then remarked on the secrecy surrounding the exact number of jars sold by noting: "Well done, she sold out, but here is the bit of sad news that I bring to the world this morning."

While Lorraine herself chuckled in the background, Ross delivered more news: "You might not be able to get it ever again."
He mocked the idea that the news wasn't too surprising and delved into Meghan hinting at switching path from jam production.
The April release of Meghan's As Ever range was immensely successful, selling out in just 45 minutes and featured items including jams, honey, and herbal teas.
However, in her podcast's last episode, Confessions of a Female Founder, Meghan disclosed her intentions to "step back, gather data from the launch, and figure out exactly what As Ever could be."
She elaborated on her future aspirations saying: "I want to really focus on the hospitality angle of As Ever, but as we take the learnings, we can understand what the customer's needs are seasonally."

"My heart is very deeply in my home. Everything comes from being rooted in the love story of your home and garden, and then you can imagine different verticals coming out of that."
When questioned about the possibility of venturing into a clothing line, Meghan expressed her interest, stating: "Fashion is a category I plan to explore down the line because I find it to be an interesting space for me."
As reported by Fast Company, Meghan also shared her uncertainty about defining her professional identity, saying, "If I had to write a résumé, I don't know what I would call myself."
On her As Ever website, products like the $12 Herbal Lemon Ginger Tea and $15 Flower Sprinkles have sold out, alongside other items such as shortbread and crepe mixes.
However, the website hints at future offerings with a "more coming soon" message.

The Duchess of Sussex may have set the tills ringing with the latest 'As Ever' merchandise, but her new apricot spread has been savaged by critics – within hours of going on sale. Champion jam-maker Donna Collins said: 'It's a real disappointment that Meghan is selling a fruit spread, which is what you make when your jam fails. In the jam industry a spread is what we call something that didn't work. 'It can have the best ingredients, but if I had a jam that was too runny, I'd slap a label on it and call it a spread. There's no excuse for this. It should be perfect.' Ms Collins, who owns Jelly Queens jam company and has won more than 40 world championship honours in jam-making competitions, also queried the ingredients in Meghan's spread. The jars, sold in keepsake packaging for £10 or plain for £7, list conventionally grown apricots, dried organic apricots, organic pure cane sugar and fruit pectin. 'Why should she include conventionally grown apricots, which will have used pesticides?' said Ms Collins. 'And why is she using pectin, which is a gelling agent, unless it's because her spread was too runny? Most spreads don't use pectin.' Meghan launched her 'As Ever' brand in April with a raspberry spread, which critics attacked for being ill-suited for spreading on bread or toast. Many fans who jumped online the moment Meghan's 'As Ever' products went up for sale on Friday were disappointed to learn the apricot spread had sold out. Ms Collins added: 'Her apricot spread sold out in minutes, just like her earlier raspberry spread, which may mean they only made a small batch. 'I don't know who's making her spread, but we all know it's not Meghan. It sounds like they really don't know what they are doing.' Maureen Foley, owner of Red Hen Cannery near Montecito, said she suspected Meghan wanted to make a spread to take advantage of marketing opportunities. 'She may be smart trying to fill a niche,' said Ms Foley. 'Spreads can be sweet or savoury, and used on dishes for all meals, so perhaps it's just clever marketing.'

Former Butlin's redcoat Stephen Mulhern has lost his lucrative £1m contract with the famous holiday firm. ITV star Stephen Mulhern has been dealt a huge career blow. The presenter has been dropped from his reported £1million gig as the face of Butlins, rounding off a spate of ill fortune with work commitments. Mulhern, 48, hasn't had his contract renewed with the famous family-friendly UK holiday resort chain. As part of the deal he performed magic shows on stage at the firm's centres in Minehead, Bognor Regis and Skegness, but he will not return after the summer season. A spokesperson confirmed the news and stated that the star, a former redcoat for the legendary firm, had 'enjoyed' his time working with the brand. The spokesperson told the Mirror: 'Stephen has absolutely loved being part of the Butlin's family - performing his stage shows in front of thousands of holiday makers across the country and the relationship with Butlin's remains hugely positive. "This change allows Stephen to explore new opportunities in the family holiday space – something he's incredibly passionate about." A Butlin's spokesperson added: "Stephen has been an incredible part of the Butlin's experience and continues to be a valued member of the family. Stephen's much-loved live show won't return in 2026 after three fantastic years, but we're thrilled to be working together on ongoing projects this autumn.' Stephen's Butlin's axe was revealed by the Sun, as a source told them: 'Stephen has been a massive hit with holidaymakers. He began his career as a Redcoat and has kept families brilliantly entertained.' The TV magician's role on ITV Dancing On Ice came to an end earlier this year when the show was cancelled. The reality ice skating competition was cancelled due to low ratings, after Stephen had joined Holly Willoughby to host in January. He replaced Phillip Schofield, who was booted from all of his ITV roles after his affair with a younger colleague at This Morning was revealed in 2023. And last year, Stephen's other TV show, In For A Penny, was cancelled after six seasons , though there have been hinted it will return. A source previously told The Sun: "So don't put your pennies away just yet as the team could be popping up in your local town, to challenge even more members of the public to take part in their unique and madcap games in the future." Stephen also suffered a traumatic time in his personal life last year when his dad passed away. Stephen paid tribute to his late father in a touching moment after his Royal Variety Performance act last December. As the audience applauded his magic tricks, he said: "That was for you dad."
