Wesley Wittig with the Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office released a statement on Friday saying, "The Fort Bend County District Attorney's Office filed a misdemeanor charge of Misrepresentation of Identity/Candidate against KP George last year, which is pending in County Court at Law No. 5. This came after an investigation into an associate of Mr. George was expanded to implicate George himself.
The District Attorney's Office has continuously stated that the investigation was ongoing, and that investigation has now led to two 3rd-degree felony indictments for Money Laundering, which were made public today. These charges are unrelated to the pending misdemeanor and are assigned to the 458th District Court.
Our office remains committed to the integrity our public deserves, and the ethics to which all prosecutors are sworn to. And our investigation remains ongoing."

KP George has had several big stories in the public eye over the past year or so.
As FOX 26 has reported, George could be changing parties to the Republican Party.
George was also indicted on a charge of misrepresentation of identity back in September 2024. It was previously alleged that he allowed his consultant at the time, Taral Patel, to post social media comments impersonating people online to threaten others. George was charged with a Class A misdemeanor. Records accused the county judge of posing as "Antonio Scalywag" in a campaign post on his Facebook page.
George released a statement on the matter back in February.
However, it's unclear if either of these items are what led up to George being charged on Friday.

Allegations and accusations are being made without full context or disclosure of the facts—deliberately manipulating the narrative to tarnish my reputation and character.I have full confidence that the truth will prevail, in the meantime, I remain committed to serving and fighting for the people of Fort Bend County with the same passion and dedication as always."

Americans found to have increasing appetite for active US global leadership, led by MAGA Republicans: Report

Nearly two-thirds of Americans support increased engagement in international affairs, according to a newly released annual summer survey from the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute. The survey, conducted by polling firms Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research, marks the third year the Ronald Reagan Institute has conducted a summer survey asking Americans about their attitudes towards foreign policy. It found 64% of Americans overall favor the United States taking a leadership role in international affairs, which is up more than 20% since 2023. The trend of Americans leaning towards international engagement, as opposed to isolationism, has seen growing support across both parties – even the America-first MAGA wing of the Republican Party, which leads the way with 73% support for greater international involvement, according to the new survey. Meanwhile, 69% of Republicans support the idea, as well as 65% of Democrats, the survey found. The survey was released less than a day after the Trump administration ordered a massive surprise strike on Iranian nuclear sites in a move designed to cripple Iran's nuclear weapons infrastructure. Approximately 73% of registered voters questioned in a recent Fox News national survey said they think Iran poses a real security threat to the U.S. "Americans are not retreating from the world," the survey's introduction stated. The survey found that 55% of Americans supported pursuing acquisition of the Panama Canal, while 47% supported the move to acquire Greenland. However, there is also a severe distinction between Republicans and Democrats on this issue, with most Democrats opposed and a majority of Republicans in favor of territorial expansion. When it comes to the Gaza Strip, only 33% of the survey respondents overall indicated they were in favor of such a move, including 24% of Democrats and 47% of Republicans. Fisherman who vanished harvesting clams found dead weeks later, Maine officials say

The body of a fisherman who went missing in Maine has been found, according to officials. Alton Wallace, 51, of Milbridge was harvesting clams May 18 and never returned, according to a June 21 news release from the Maine Department of Marine Resources. 'Alton was an avid fisherman and was out fishing alone (May 18) when he wasn't heard from, and his small boat was found washed ashore,' a Facebook post from 2A TAC Air OPS Drone Services said. 'Based on information from the family, it is believed that he likely had a medical issue and fell into the water.' Wallace was reported missing and searches involving the U.S. Coast Guard, the Maine Warden Service, the Maine Forest Service, the Underwater Recovery Team, local fishermen and community members were conducted to try to find him, the Department of Marine Resources said. 'These days are living nightmares, simple please bring us closure in having him back,' Sheila Wallace, a family member, said in a Facebook post. The Marine Patrol searched for Alton Wallace by plane near where responders determined his last cell phone ping occurred, Marine Resources said. Around 11 a.m. June 21, a fisherman found Wallace's body, and Marine Patrol officers recovered it from the western shore of Foster Island in Narraguagus Bay, officials said. 'Alton Wallace is the kind of person who would do anything for anyone—always the first to lend a hand and always showing up for those in need,' Ali Wallace said in a Facebook post announcing the Alton Wallace Scholarship. His body was taken to the medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
