The attack, the origins of which were traced to masterminds based in Pakistan, had led to retaliatory strikes by India on terror facilities and later even military assets inside Pakistan.

UP man held in Delhi in CPI(M) revival conspiracy case

The arrest was made during a search in Vishal Singh's West Delhi house, from where digital devices and other incriminating materials were also seized. (For representation) A senior NIA official said Singh, who was originally from U.P's Mathura, was a member of the banned CPI (Maoist) and had delivered a drone to leaders of the outfit in Chhakarbanda/Panchrukhiya forest area of Bihar to further its violent anti-national activities. He had imparted technical training to other cadres of CPI (Maoist) and had also attended meetings with its central committee members in the deep forests of Bihar in 2019. He said the case related to the terror organisation's conspiracy to re-energise its decrepit influence in the Northern Regional Bureau (NRB) area, comprising UP, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. He said the conspiracy involved the recruitment of cadres and strengthening of the organisation in the region through underground cadres working in urban areas, along with some Over Ground Workers (OGWs) operating in the guise of activists. The NIA, in August 2024, arrested one Ajay Singhal alias Aman, who was the in-charge of the CPI(M)'s State Organising Committee (SOC) in Haryana and Punjab, in the same case.

1 2 3 Amritsar: Amritsar rural police have apprehended two men, including a serving jawan in the Indian Army, for alleged involvement in espionage activities linked to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) , said Punjab director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Sunday. Yadav said they had seized incriminating evidence from the arrested accused, Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Foji and Sahil Masih alias Shali. A preliminary investigation revealed that Gopy Foji was in direct contact with ISI operatives and allegedly shared sensitive information through pen drives. Police have seized two mobile phones from the accused, suspected to have been used for communication with Pakistani handlers. Police have identified the key ISI handler involved in the case as Rana Javed. "Investigations are underway to identify the full extent of the network and trace all persons associated with these anti-national activities," said the DGP. Since then, Gopy Foji was actively engaged in the unauthorised collection and relay of sensitive military data to the ISI using pre-decided drop locations. The SSP said in lieu of this espionage activity, Gopy Foji had been receiving monetary compensation through a complex financial network involving intermediary bank accounts of friends, relatives, and foreign associates to evade detection. In an intelligence-led operation, police teams arrested Gopy Foji and Shali when they were attempting another handover of sensitive data, SSP said. Terror conspiracy case: NIA chargesheets key aide of Khalistani terrorists

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has chargesheeted Jatinder Singh alias Joti, a key aide of Babbar Khalsa International terrorist Lakhbir Singh alias Landa and dreaded gangster Pavittar Batala, in a Punjab terror conspiracy case, officials said on Sunday. The chargesheet was filed before a special NIA court in Mohali on Friday. (PTI File) Jatinder Singh, hailing from Gurdaspur district of Punjab, was arrested by the NIA from Mumbai on December 23 last year in the case, according to an official statement. Jatinder Singh was involved in illegal procurement and supply of firearms from Madhya Pradesh to Punjab-based gangsters, the agency said. He was facilitating the supply of weapons to operatives of Pavittar Batala, a close associate of designated individual terrorist Landa, it said. Batala's foreign-based associates were coordinating Jatinder Singh's operations in India, the NIA said. The weapons were being used by Batala's operatives in Punjab to promote Babbar Khalsa International's criminal-terror activities, it mentioned. It was further found during the NIA investigation that Jatinder Singh used to procure illegal weapons from a known arms supplier, Baljeet Singh alias Rana Bhai, in Madhya Pradesh. Baljeet Singh had already been arrested and chargesheeted by the NIA. The accused were using virtual numbers and encrypted applications to avoid detection by law enforcement agencies, the statement said. The NIA is investigating the role of Landa as well as designated terrorist Harwinder Singh alias Rinda and their foreign-based accomplices in the conspiracy, it added. On June 12, the NIA had searched 15 locations linked with the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror organisation in Punjab and Haryana. The places searched included Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Pathankot, Kapurthala and Rupnagar districts of Punjab and Sirsa in Haryana in connection with the January grenade attack at a police post in Amritsar, according to the NIA. The NIA said a host of incriminating materials, including mobiles, digital devices and documents, were seized during the search operation. These are being examined for further clues to the terror syndicate of the BKI. As part of its investigation, the NIA, which took over the case in April and registered a fresh cash on June 12, searched the premises of accused and suspects linked to Mandeep as well as Sarwan Singh alias Bhola, currently based in the US, and his brother Mandeep Singh alias Makka.
