Notre Dame basketball hires former star as its General Manager
There is a certain draw back to South Bend for many former Notre Dame athletes, and on Tuesday former men's basketball star Pat Garrity came home.
It was announced that the former No. 19 overall pick of the 1998 NBA draft will lead both the men's and women's basketball program as its general manager. Following his playing career, Garrity worked in the front office for the Detroit Pistons as their director of strategic planning, and eventually worked his way up to the assistant general manager.
He left the position in 2020, but now Garrity is heading back to South Bend, with a big role. He will also serve as the 'primary sports administrator for the men's program,' as was stated in Notre Dame's press release regarding the hire.
Garrity expressed gratitude for being able to return to the Irish saying 'at every point in my career and life, Notre Dame has always been a second home for me any my family. The University has shaped who I am, and its values resonate deeply within me.'
It's safe to say that he's excited about having a role inside the Irish athletic department, and with Garrity's experience in an NBA front office, this is looking like a great hire for Notre Dame.

Rockets Reportedly Acquire Kevin Durant From Suns in Blockbuster Trade
Kevin Durant is off to team No. 5. The Houston Rockets have agreed to a deal with the Phoenix Suns to acquire the 11-time All-NBA honoree, ESPN reported Sunday. In return, the Suns will reportedly receive veteran guards Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks. They'll also receive six draft picks, including the No. 10 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. The other five picks are second-round selections. Durant, who will be 37 at the start of next season, is entering the final season of a four-year, $194.2 million deal. This season, Durant averaged 26.6 points, six rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 blocks per game, while shooting 52.7/43.0/83.9 in 62 games; he missed time due to ankle and calf injuries. The Suns went 36-46 and missed the playoffs. Durant spent the first nine seasons of his NBA career with the Seattle Supersonics/Oklahoma City Thunder, followed by a three-year stint with the Golden State Warriors, with whom Durant won two championships. Durant then signed with the Brooklyn Nets, missing his first season with the team (2019-20) due to a torn Achilles tendon. At the 2023 NBA trade deadline, Durant was traded to the Suns, where he played through the 2024-25 season. Durant was the 2013-14 NBA MVP and is a two-time NBA Finals MVP. Suns reportedly trade Kevin Durant to Houston Rockets for Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks, draft picks
Kevin Durant is on the move, concluding weeks of speculation about where the superstar forward would land. The Phoenix Suns are trading Durant to the Houston Rockets, in exchange for Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks, per ESPN's Shams Charania. Phoenix also receives the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks as part of the trade. Advertisement The trade ends a two plus-season run with the Suns after Durant joined Phoenix from the Brooklyn Nets via a blockbuster deal prior to the 2023 NBA trade deadline. The Suns acquired Durant in exchange for a package that sent Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and four first-round picks to Brooklyn. The intent in Phoenix was to pair Durant alongside Devin Booker in hopes of competing in the stacked Western Conference for an NBA title. They never reached contention as teammates. Suns failed to build a competitor around Durant, Booker Durant recovered from a knee injury in time for the 2023 playoffs after landing in Phoenix and helped the Suns advance to the second round. The Suns beat the Clippers before losing to the eventual NBA champion Nuggets. That turned out to be the peak of the Durant era in Phoenix. Advertisement Durant played 75 games the following season in his first full campaign with the Suns. Phoenix finished 49-33 in 2023-24 and earned the No. 6 seed in the West. The Suns were swept in the first round of the playoffs by the Timberwolves. Failed season a prelude to Durant deal This past season was a failure in Phoenix that led to the dismissal of head coach Mike Budenholzer in April after one season. A top-heavy Suns roster was not competitive in the West and missed the playoffs after a 36-46 campaign that was good for 11th place in the conference. It was reported after Budenholzer's dismissal that the Suns would work with Durant to find him a new team. Now he has one. Advertisement Durant isn't the player he was in his MVP prime. But he remains an All-Star-level force at 36 years old and reportedly drew interest from multiple teams seeking to contend for a championship, including the Timberwolves, Rockets and Heat. Durant made his 15th career All-Star team in 2024-25 and finished the season with averages of 26.6 points, six rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.2 blocks per game. He shot 52.7% from the field and 43% from 3 and remains one of basketball's most lethal and efficient scorers. The trade represents the latest seismic shake-up in the Western Conference, following the Luka Dončić-Anthony Davis trade, the deal that sent De'Aaron Fox to the Spurs and another that sent Jimmy Butler to the Warriors during the season. This story will be updated with more information shortly.

All eyes are on the 2025 NBA Finals between the Pacers and Thunder, but the 2025 NBA Draft is less than one week away. Keep reading to find out everything you need to know about the draft, including when it is, where it is, what channel it is on, who is projected to be taken first overall and more. When is the 2025 NBA Draft? The 2025 NBA Draft begins Wednesday, June 25 on ESPN and ABC. How many rounds is the 2025 NBA Draft? There are two rounds in the 2025 NBA Draft spread across two days. The second round is Thursday, June 26 on ESPN. What time is the 2025 NBA Draft? Both rounds of the draft start at 8 p.m. ET. How many picks are there in the 2025 NBA Draft? This year, there will only be 59 picks in the draft, as opposed to the usual 60. The draft will once again be held at Barclays Center in New York City. Advertisement The Brooklyn arena has hosted the draft every year since 2013, with the exception of 2020, when it was held at ESPN's studios in Connecticut due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
