Maha CM bats for project completion within the set deadlines
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday at the 'War Room' meeting reviewed the status of 15 key infrastructure projects and instructed the administration that the work should proceed as per the defined timeline.
He also took the review of 18 infrastructure projects, which were discussed during the previous meeting of the War Room.
The Chief Minister's Office (CMO) said that the 'War Room' meeting included a review of several major projects across Mumbai, Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Western Maharashtra.
The CMO said that the projects included Mumbai Metro Line 2B (DN Nagar to Mandale), Metro Line 4 (Wadala to Kasarvadavali), Metro Line 5 (Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan), Metro Line 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli), Metro Line 7A (Andheri to CSM International Airport Terminal 2), Metro Line 9 (Dahisar East to Mira Bhayander), Orange Gate to Marine Drive Tunnel Project, Borivali to Thane Twin Tunnel Project, Uttan-Virar Sea LinkSewri-Worli Elevated Corridor, Pune Metro, Dahisar to Bhayander Link Road, Goregaon-Magathane DP Road, Goregaon–Mulund Link Road, Northern Coastal Road.
The Chief Minister emphasised the importance of meticulous planning to ensure that developmental projects are completed swiftly.
He urged the respective departments to hold internal meetings to resolve obstacles so that all development works can be completed in a time-bound manner.
He also directed that the land acquisition process be expedited to make land available for these projects.
'Necessary permissions related to forest and environmental concerns should be obtained promptly, and zonal master plans should be prepared as required. Advanced technologies should be used for accurate surveying in large-scale projects like the Dharavi redevelopment,' he said.
He also stressed the need to resolve land acquisition issues for the Wardha-Nanded railway project, which connects Vidarbha and Marathwada.
'The process of purchasing private land for the Wardha-Gadchiroli railway line should be completed within seven days. For the Vadhavan Port Project, which is vital for maritime transport, forest land issues should be addressed and necessary decisions taken promptly. The Vadhavan Port is expected to generate significant employment, and hence, implementation should also be fast-tracked,' said the Chief Minister.
He further directed that immediate action should be taken regarding land acquisition for metro projects in Mumbai and Pune.
'Technical issues in the Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar City Water Supply Project should be resolved without delay, and work should commence urgently. The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) should acquire land for the Magathane to Goregaon DP Road, and necessary wildlife clearances should be granted immediately,' he said.
He also instructed that the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority should hand over the tenements meant for project-affected persons to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).
In the previous 'War Room' meeting, the Chief Minister had reviewed around 18 projects. At that time, 73 issues were discussed, out of which 31 have been resolved, and efforts are ongoing to resolve the remaining issues.

BMC plan to auction prime plots stalled as two govt bodies want to procure them
Mumbai: Eight months after BMC floated tenders to auction three prime land parcels in Mumbai—at Malabar Hill, Worli, and near Crawford market in Fort—the fate of the proposed sale remains uncertain. The move had marked the first time the civic body opted to auction its own plots, indicating a shift in its strategy to monetise real estate assets and generate long-term revenue. However, the auction process faced multiple hurdles. The plan to auction the Malabar Hill plot was scrapped early on following objections from BEST as the land has high-tension transmission lines running through it. Additionally, over 60 residents from the area raised objections, pointing out that the property card of the plot classifies it as a BMC-owned space designated for a public garden. The civic body then proceeded with plans to auction the remaining two plots. These vacant land parcels are to be leased for 30 years, with a provision for renewal for another 30 years, and are expected to bring in substantial revenue for BMC. However, an official said, Central Railway requested a portion of the plot near Crawford market—for free—to construct a passenger outlet from CSMT via a proposed skywalk. "Since the entire plot was listed for auction, carving out a part of it may not be viable," said a civic official. A high-level meeting on the matter was recently held with the chief secretary, the official added. As for the Worli plot, RBI approached BMC independently, although it did not participate in the bidding process. TOI reached out to RBI for comments but got no response. BMC officials confirmed that while bids were received for the Worli land, the responses are still under review. In Oct last year, when the tender was issued a few days before the model code of conduct for the assembly elections kicked in, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader and MLA Aaditya Thackeray opposed the auctions, claiming that BMC is gradually losing control of vital land resources, which could otherwise be used for public infrastructure or amenities.

Nagpur: In a major boost for road connectivity to Nashik for Kumbh Mela 2027, Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari on Sunday approved upgradation, along with construction in some patches, of up to eight highways leading to the city. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting support for upgrading the road infrastructure so that Maharashtra is prepared to handle the influx of visitors to Nashik. After a meeting with Gadkari in Nagpur, Fadnavis also informed reporters that projects related to the Nashik Ring Road as well as Dwarka Circle were discussed. "We have identified certain highways which lead towards Nashik, and their upgradation was extremely important. These include roads coming from Dhule, Sambhaji Nagar, Mumbai, Palghar, Nagpur and Gujarat. Along with this, there are some internal roads which also need to be upgraded to support the flow of visitors towards Nashik," said Fadnavis. "Gadkari ji held a meeting regarding our request and he has approved all the projects. Soon, a DPR will be prepared and funds allotted. Govt seeks public inputs for Viksit Maha 2047 via survey
Nagpur: Maharashtra govt has launched a statewide citizen survey to collect public opinion for the preparation of 'Viksit Maharashtra 2047' vision document. The initiative is part of a 150-day programme led by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, aimed at shaping a long-term development roadmap for the state in alignment with the national India@2047 goal. The survey, officially inaugurated on June 17, encourages citizens to share their views on development priorities across 16 key sectors for which seven questions are to be answered on WhatsApp chatbot. These include agriculture, education, health, rural and urban development, land and water resources, infrastructure, finance, industry, services, social development, security, soft power, technology, and human resource management. Citizens can participate in the survey by scanning QR code displayed on official banners or by visiting the link: The planning department has clarified that no personal information will be collected during the process. The vision document aims to guide Maharashtra toward becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2029 and a $5 trillion economy by 2047. Departments have been directed to set short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals, focusing on progress, sustainability, inclusivity, and good governance. Experts and organisations from both govt and non-govt sectors will also be involved in drafting sector-wise plans. The campaign falls under the broader framework of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, the national movement marking 100 years of India's independence in 2047. It emphasizes citizen engagement as a cornerstone for planning and decision-making. The chief minister has directed all district collectors, commissioners, and local officials to ensure public participation by promoting the survey at key locations. The govt believes that the input of citizens is essential in creating a development agenda that reflects real ground-level needs and aspirations. Residents across Maharashtra are urged to take part in this opportunity to help shape the future of the state.
