Suryakumar Yadav gives heartfelt speech for father on his retirement from BARC
Suryakumar Yadav
During IPL-2025, when he was slaying the bowlers while scoring 640 runs in 14 matches-his best IPL season ever, India's T20 captain
Suryakumar Yadav
took out time from his busy schedule to attend the retirement function of his father Ashok Kumar Yadav at BARC (Bhabha Atomic Research Centre) in Chembur.
Ashok Kumar Yadav worked as a scientist with BARC.
Giving an emotional speech, which was also peppered with jokes that drew instant laughter from the audience-the employees of BARC- about his father, SKY said, "This is a moment when a pre-decided speech or the phone won't work. I'd like to share my experience (with him) of all these years. It seems as if a match is about to start! I just want to say one thing…when so many people get together for one man, and there's no place to even sit, people want to come inside (the auditorium) and see what's going on.
So, that means dad, you must've done something well! You've showed us such good videos (messages for his father from his colleagues at BARC). I didn't know that dad sings so well too, because he never sings at home! Maybe he would have sung something when I and my sister weren't there at home! I've never seen him sing. It felt really good to see this. Definitely, You've got a lot of time at your disposal now to entertain mom!'

The 34-year-old joked that his father's office colleagues would now have to call up his mother Swapna Yadav and seek his appointment if they wished to talk to him!
'I don't want to be a one-season wonder': Punjab Kings' Shashank Singh
In our world, they say that every beautiful journey has come to an end someday.
So, this has also been your fairy-tale journey with your such good, lovely friends who love you so much, and it's now coming to an end. However, we'll fully try to ensure that your second innings is even more beautiful and memorable than this. So many people have given such lovely speeches about dad here, and said that they will always remember dad.
However, earlier you would call him directly to talk, but now you'll have to call up mom first to seek his appointment and talk to him!

Talking about how his father was his idol growing up, Surya said, "Growing up, you need a Superman-like figure to me, from whom you can learn a lot in life.
Definitely, my father was that figure for me. He supported me from the beginning of my career journey. I had no idea what the future held for me. We've seen each and every day go by. He would get up early in the morning for me, make my dabbas (tiffin box), drop me to school and college, so that I won't bunk either! All these small things you don't tend to forget.
Like how we play a first-class match from 9am to 5am, dad would go to the office in the morning and return home at 6pm. Even if anything would happen in the office, a tiff or something, he would never bring it home. There were many such things that I learnt from him. Like you guys said, he would treat everyone in the office equally. I've imbibed all these qualities from him. I just want to wish him all the best for his second innings with us. Now you can give us all the time that you can. Definitely, now mom too, who's his pillar of strength, will get to spend more time with him. I just want to say: 'Comon, let's go home!"

Surya also posted an emotional tribute to his father on Instagram as he retired, thanking him for the work he put into him and the family.
The Mumbai Indians batter shared a picture of him with his family and expressed his love and appreciation. Suryakumar described his father as a 'simple man who left no stone unturned to give us an extraordinary life,' reflecting on what his father taught him through his values and his strength.
'To my first and forever hero, role model, life manual, and guide… an important innings finishes for you and every time you have played a role, you have hit it out of the park,' Suryakumar said and paid tribute to the work his dad put in, 'Time to gear up for your next innings, dad, a tad less important one.' The post was well-received and flooded with love and congratulations by fans and cricketers.

ENG vs IND 1st Test: I try to forget quickly, says Bumrah on Indian dropped catches
In a parallel world, Jasprit Bumrah could have had more than the five wickets he ended up with in England's first innings here, and that too in double quick time. But a disastrous fielding display by his teammates – they dropped three catches off his bowling – and some rotten luck – he dismissed Harry Brook off a no-ball when on nought – ensured India was on the field for far longer than desired. But Bumrah was empathetic towards his fielders. 'You have to move forward,' he said on Sunday. 'I try to quickly forget. They [fielders] are also new [to England] and sometimes the ball is tough to sight. I don't want to be angry and kicking and putting more pressure.' ALSO READ | Bumrah fifer and Rahul's steady 47 helps India take 96-run lead at end of Day 3 Bumrah also stated that the wicket was still good to bat. 'There is a little bit of two-pace and the new ball might swing. But no demons. It's a fast scoring ground. So the more runs we get, the better.' By his own admission, the 31-year-old is not looking to play more than three Tests this series for better management of his workload. But the potential limited participation doesn't affect his thinking and preparation, he said. 'You don't look at what is going to happen. At this moment, I am trying to assess the wicket, and the batter. I am not thinking about how many games I am going to play.' The constant chatter about his career ending because of injuries also doesn't bother him. 'It was once said that I can't play cricket at all. Then it became six months, eight months. But it's been more than 10 years now in internationals and 12 to 13 years of IPL. Still people are saying 'I will go'. People can keep saying, but I am going nowhere. I will keep playing until god allows me to and try taking Indian cricket forward.'

Diljit Dosanjh unveils Sardaar Ji 3 trailer featuring Hania Aamir; film to release overseas only amid India-Pakistan tensions
On Sunday evening, launched the much-awaited trailer of his upcoming Punjabi comedy Sardaar Ji 3, putting to rest rumours that Pakistani actress Hania Aamir had been dropped from the film. Her prominent presence in the trailer confirmed her continued role as the female lead, despite growing speculation following the April 22 , which claimed the lives of 26 Indian tourists and escalated tensions between India and Pakistan. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now However, in a surprising move, the film will not be released in India and will instead premiere only in overseas markets. Sharing the trailer on social media, Diljit Dosanjh wrote, 'Sardaar Ji 3 releasing 27th June OVERSEAS Only. FADH LAO BHOOND DIAN LATTAN.' Trailer inaccessible in India Indian viewers were quick to notice that the trailer has been geo-blocked in the country. Attempting to play the video on YouTube triggers the message: 'The uploader has not made this video available in your country.' In contrast, the film's teaser and songs remain accessible to Indian users, suggesting that the trailer's restriction is likely due to Hania Aamir's visible role in the film. Hania Aamir's Instagram account has also reportedly been blocked in India following India's Operation Sindoor, a retaliatory military strike conducted on May 7 targeting terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Diljit Dosanjh Joins Forces with Sunny Deol for BORDER 2 | Behind-the-Scenes Fire at NDA Industry backlash and release strategy On June 11, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a statement urging the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to withhold clearance for Sardaar Ji 3, citing the presence of Pakistani actors. In addition to Hania Aamir, the cast also includes Nasir Chinyoti, Daniel Khawar, and Saleem Albela, all Pakistani nationals. To avoid delays, protests, and political backlash, the filmmakers appear to have opted for an overseas-only release strategy. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Sardaar Ji 3 marks the third instalment of Diljit Dosanjh's successful Sardaar Ji franchise, known for its light-hearted humour and fantasy elements. The decision to cast Pakistani actors, particularly Hania Aamir, has placed the film in the centre of a political and cultural storm, with national sentiments running high in the wake of the recent cross-border violence.
