Tony Leung Ka-fai reflects on his career ahead of Sons of the Neon Night's Cannes premiere

It has been a while since Tony Leung Ka-fai last made a high-profile appearance at a European film festival to promote a film, so the occasion feels a little special.

Still, when we sit down with him during the 2025 Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy, the Hong Kong film legend is waiting patiently in the hospitality suite of the Teatro Novo, quietly sipping a beer as journalists and photographers swirl around the room.
'I like this festival,' Leung says. 'I enjoy Udine and the audience here. Cannes is more formal, more commercial. You have to be on all the time.'
This year the Far East Film Festival awarded filmmaker
Tsui Hark a Golden Mulberry for Lifetime Achievement. Leung introduced Hark to a sold-out crowd and handed him the award after a screening of Legends of the Condor Heroes: The Gallants, the pair's most recent collaboration as star and director respectively.
In the film, which is based on seven chapters of Louis Cha Leung-yung's 1959 tale
The Legend of the Condor Heroes , Leung plays Venom West, a power-mad martial artist who intends to take over the world by stealing an important scripture.

Maido in Peru tops World's 50 Best Restaurants list, Hong Kong's Wing, The Chairman place

For the 2025 edition of the World's 50 Best Restaurants awards, the annual event was held for the first time in Italy, at the historic Auditorium Giovanni Agnelli at the Lingotto Fiere exhibition centre in Turin. Maido, a Nikkei (Peruvian-Japanese) fine-dining spot in Lima helmed by chef Mitsuharu 'Micha' Tsumura, took home the top honour. The restaurant is no stranger to accolades from the 50 Best universe, having received top ranking four times on the Latin America edition of the list. 'I dream of making people happy,' said a visibly emotional Tsumura when taking to the stage. 'I think hospitality can do amazing things. They can make dreams come true, they can solve most problems that you think cannot be solved. I think that we should be an example for the world of what can be done and how we can bring things together with the power of food.' Ikoyi in London, helmed by Hong Kong-born chef Jeremy Chan, received the highest climber award, leaping from 42nd to 15th.

28 Years Later's Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes and Danny Boyle on the horror sequel

British horror film 28 Days Later by director Danny Boyle was a surprise hit in 2002 and soon became a milestone in the genre. Five years on came the sequel 28 Weeks Later, directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo. Now, Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland are back with a third installment, 28 Years Later – the first in a possible trilogy. 'I think what had happened was we both had a very particular affection for the original film,' Garland said. 'That also means you want to protect it as well as continue to explore it.' 28 Weeks Later screenwriter Alex Garland. Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez have invited celebrity friends like fellow space traveller Katy Perry, Oprah Winfrey , Mick Jagger and Ivanka Trump for their Venice nuptials later this month, but the couple hopes to put a spotlight on Venice's traditions during the celebrations. Apart from celebrities, the A-list guest list reported by TMZ included politicians and business leaders such as Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Joshua Kushner and his wife Karlie Kloss , as well as models like Camila Morrone and Brooks Nader. The wedding will take place over three days in late June, with events for the some 200 invited guests kept private. Two historic Venetian companies will add artisanal touches to the celebration: Rosa Salva, the city's oldest pastry maker that has been crafting doughnut-shaped fishermen's biscuits since 1876, and Laguna B, a design studio known for its distinctive handblown Murano glass prized by fashion and design clients. Photo: AP Antonio Rosa Salva, the sixth generation in his family to run the pastry business, said the wedding order of a selection of surprises for goody bags was important recognition of his family's long tradition of baking Venetian specialities dating back nearly 150 years. They include the bussolà buttery biscuit that was long a fisherman's staple, and small zaletti cookies, made from the Veneto region's cornmeal, flavoured with raisins and lemon zest. 'We try to maintain the old recipes,'' said Rosa Salva, whose family business includes a catering service and four locations in Venice's historic centre and one on the mainland. 'We do everything with love. It's a pleasure and a privilege.'' Pastry shop owner Andrea Rosa Salva poses outside his shop in Venice on June 12.
