Poojary told reporters on Monday that the MLA of Mangaluru City South forgot his responsibilities and was engaged in political mudslinging even when the city witnessed artificial flooding and other disasters.

He said the MLA also did not meet district minister Dinesh Gundu Rao to discuss rain-related issues.
"Heavy downpour caused significant destruction, including loss of lives, in Dakshina Kannada. People elected their MLAs with the hope of working for the constituency, especially in times of crisis. Unfortunately, MLA Kamath was engaged in political mudslinging targeting the Congress govt, even when roads in the city were witnessing artificial flooding," Poojary said.
He stated that the BJP, which was in power in the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) council for five years, did not do anything to prevent the flooding of roads. The unscientific development works taken up under the Smart City Mission were also a reason for the artificial flooding. On the instructions of chief minister Siddaramaiah, the district minister visited various places, distributed ex-gratia to the families of those who died in the natural disaster, and also held official meetings to strengthen the disaster response network.
Being an elected representative, Kamath should have met the minister and given his suggestions to tackle the rain damage.
Condemning the murder of Abdul Rahiman, Poojary said, "I checked the background of Rahiman and I assert confidently that he was an innocent youth, who had no criminal records in any police stations. No one has the right to kill anyone, even those who have criminal records. I have confidence that the new police officers appointed by the govt will be able to establish peace and harmony in the district." In response to a query, Poojary said that he will seek more funds for disaster management in the district.

HYDERABAD: Revenue minister Ponguleti SrinivasReddy on Saturday said the Congress govt is overhauling the revenue administration, which had deteriorated during the BRS's decade-long rule. He said that the Bhu Bharati Act, aimed at providing lasting solutions to long-pending land disputes in Telangana, is being implemented with seriousness and has already brought a positive shift in the system. At a review meeting with senior officials on the successful completion of revenue meets (sadassulu) across the state, the minister said over 10 lakh land-related applications were received across three phases. Between June 3 and 20, revenue meets were held in 10,239 villages across 561 mandals, during which eight lakh more applications were received. In all, 10,725 sadassulu were conducted in 593 mandals, with 8.58 lakh applications submitted. 'In the first phase, held from April 17 to 30, around 12,000 applications were submitted through 72 sadassulu across four mandals. In the second phase, which began on May 5, over 46,000 applications were collected through 414 meetings in 28 mandals. Over 60% of those issues have been resolved, excluding sadabainama cases,' he said. Sadabainama refers to a land transaction, where land ownership is recorded only on paper. Khammam district received the highest number of applications at 67,000, followed by Bhadradri Kothagudem (61,000), Warangal (54,000), Jayashankar Bhupalpally (48,000), and Nalgonda (42,000). The minister said free application forms were distributed a day prior in villages, and special teams were deployed under the supervision of tahsildars. So far, 3.27 lakh applications have been registered online, and officials have been instructed to expedite the remaining cases.

Drop attempt to murder charge: Himachal leader of Opposition
Jun 22, 2025 08:44 AM IST Leader of Opposition and former chief minister Jai Ram Thakur on Saturday demanded the state government to immediately drop the attempt to murder charges that has been registered against BJP leaders, including state president Rajeev Bindal, and Paonta Sahib MLA Sukh Ram Chaudhary in a case of stone-pelting that took place few days ago. He also demanded stern action against the main culprit of the incident. Himachal leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur (File) While addressing a press conference, Jai Ram said, 'What happened in Paonta Sahib was clearly a matter of Love Jihad and just like many other such instances involving people of Hindu and Muslim community, action was only initiated against Hindus while no action was taken against the Muslims, which clearly reflects the anti-Sanatan mindset of the government.' 'In a complaint filed by an ASI who was injured in the incident, he had mentioned that it were the people of Muslim community who instigated the violence and pelted the stones first,' Jai Ram said. 'While no action was taken against the accused boy, police arrested four individuals,' he added. 'Being a public representative several BJP leaders were also present during the situation, however, they were not present at the site where violence erupted; still they were booked under Section 109 of BNS,' said Jai Ram. 'The FIR is a result of political vendetta and it looks like the state government saw an opportunity to falsely implicate the top leaders of BJP,' he added.
