Police searching for driver in hit-and-run crash that killed bicyclist in Osceola County
The Florida Highway Patrol has released information on a hit-and-run incident that occurred on Pleasant Hill Road, resulting in the death of an adult male bicyclist.
Officials report that a newer model black Honda Accord (V1), which remains unidentified, was heading north in the inside lane of Pleasant Hill Road, while a Volkswagen Jetta (V2) was in the outside lane.
The bicyclist was in the center of the intersection as both vehicles, having a green light, approached.
The front of V1 struck the bicyclist, throwing him into the outside lane, where the left side of V2 then hit him.
The driver of V2 attempted to swerve to avoid the collision but was unable to do so.
The bicyclist was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of V1 fled the scene northbound on Pleasant Hill Road. The driver and passenger of V2, who were uninjured, remained at the scene.
Authorities are seeking information about the crash and urge anyone with details to contact FHP at *347 or Crimeline at 1-800-423-TIPS.

New Brunswick man wanted in cop's attempted murder captured by US Marshals
A New Brunswick man has been apprehended on charges he attempted to murder a North Brunswick police officer by ramming a police car in the parking lot of a Route 1 hotel in South Brunswick in May. After a month's long manhunt, Luis Duval-Jimenez, 31, was taken into custody June 18 by the U.S. Marshals Service in North Jersey in connection with the May 15 incident, according to South Brunswick Police Chief Raymond Hayducka. Duval-Jimenez has been charged with attempted murder of a police officer, resisting arrest and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He has been remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending trial. His next court appearance is scheduled for a pre-indictment conference before Superior Court Judge Colleen Flynn on July 29. The incident began at about 12:35 p.m. when the North Brunswick officers were staking out a room at Hotel Vincenza on Route 1 in South Brunswick, looking for Duval-Jimenez. who was wanted as part of an extensive investigation into car thefts and frauds in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, Hayducka said. But Duval-Jimenez accelerated the car and allegedly rammed the police vehicle as North Brunswick Police Lt. Frank Vitelli was getting out of the car, pinning his leg in the doorframe. North Brunswick Police Capt. Cory Harris attempted to open the driver's side door of the Honda to stop Duval-Jimenez from ramming the police vehicle but as the door opened, a loaded handgun dropped out onto the parking lot, Hayducka said. Duval-Jimenez drove out of the parking lot after he rammed the police vehicle. Vitelli was taken by South Brunswick EMS to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where he was treated for a broken ankle. After the Honda Accord left the scene, South Brunswick officers located and arrested two people allegedly connected to the assault on the officer. Angelica Hernandez-Mayrena 25, of New Brunswick, was found nearby on Deans Lane, and Bryan Sanchez, 20, of New Brunswick, was located along Route 1. Hernandez-Mayrena was charged with criminal trespass and Sanchez was chargedwith hindering the apprehension of another. They were both released on a summons. Florida man's fateful decision to hide under truck from storm has tragic consequences
A man in Florida was run over and killed while he was sheltering from a storm beneath a vehicle in a parking lot, according to local police. Daniel Hodge, 53, was killed early on Monday after he hid beneath a parked vehicle to escape the rain. Police are not pursuing criminal charges against the driver related to Hodge's death, ClickOrlando reports. "The investigation into the death of Daniel J Hodge, which occurred on Monday, June 16, 2025, has concluded. No criminal charges are being pursued in this incident," police said in a statement. Police said that Hodge climbed beneath a commercial vehicle in the overnight hours between Sunday and Monday. About an hour after her slipped under the vehicle, the driver arrived at the parking and loaded into the vehicle. The driver pulled out of the parking lot unaware that Hodge was hiding beneath the vehicle's trailer. Hodge reportedly sustained fatal injuries as the vehicle was pulling out of the parking lot, according to police. Two days prior, another tragic accident claimed a life on a Florida roadway. In Orange County on Saturday, a 30-year-old trying to run across the Florida Turnpike was hit by two vehicles, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash happened around 9pm near SR 417, according to state troopers. The man reportedly sprinted from the woodline directly into the southbound lanes of the Turnpike. He was hit by a Toyota Highlander and a Chevy Silverado, FOX 35 reports. The man was from Hollywood, Florida. Police have not released his name or a reason why he might have rushed out into busy turnpike traffic.
