‘Raw' thriller with unbelievable twist shoots to the top of Netflix chart
A 'powerful' new thriller has stormed to the top of the Netflix charts, claiming more than 25million views in just a few days.
Written, directed and produced by Alex Cross star Tyler Perry, Straw follows a single mother who becomes embroiled in a sequence of terrible and violent events as she struggles to care for her ill daughter.
Oscar-nominee Taraji P Henson leads the cast alongside Teyana Taylor, Jingle All the Way actor Sinbad, and Precious actress Sherri Shepherd.
The movie was added to the streaming platform on June 6 and it didn't take long for fans to watch it in their droves – as it has dominated the global charts.
Straw currently commands the top spot with more than 25.3m views in the last seven days, and over 45.5m hours watched.

It beat out stiff competition from the Now You See Me franchise, the Bee Movie, M3GAN and Nonnas for the top slot.
Wrath of the Titans, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish and the Wild Robot also make up the list.
Emerging to strong word of mouth from audiences, the film has been described as one of Tyler's best films to date – admittedly, this mixed-bag of a catalogue does include his Madea and Mrs Brown's Boys crossover.
Viewers were particularly vocal about the 'heartbreaking' ending – which featured a twist to the tale which will ensure it won't be forgotten in a hurry.
After watching, fans took to social media to share their thoughts on what they had just witnessed.
'Straw is such a humbling movie. The rawness was so real and the plot twist was crazy,' she_mego wrote on X.
'What a walk through emotions @tylerperry's Straw. The plot twist at the end wallowed me up. A good watch indeed!' sandra_buma agreed.
'After watching Straw, I no longer know how my heart is feeling. When what gave you purpose is suddenly gone. It speaks to a pain that's hard to name. Raw, emotional, and deeply human. Kudos to the writer… truly outdone,' david_harris_r said.

Critics also heaped praise on Taraji, with Screen Rant describing her performance as 'an acting masterclass.'
'Straw has a cultural pulse-taking urgency that lifts it above [Tyler Perry's] usual run of comedies and melodramatic potboilers, flawed as it is,' Dennis Harvey of Variety wrote.
Meanwhile, Entertainment Weekly described the film's emotions as 'so raw and the performances are so earnest that you've really got to have a heart of stone not to care for these people.'
Award-winning Taraji previously starred in hit movies The Color Purple and Hidden Figures, as well as iconic series Empire.
Her performance in the film comes two years after she spoke out on the issue of inequality in pay for Hollywood's women of colour.
'I'm just tired of working so hard, being gracious at what I do, getting paid a fraction of the cost,' she told Gayle King on SiriusXM Radio.
'I'm tired of hearing my sisters saying the same thing over and over. You get tired. I hear people go, 'You work a lot.' I have to – the math ain't mathing.
'And when you start working a lot, you have a team. Big bills come with what we do. We don't do this alone. The fact that we're up here, there's a whole entire team behind us. They have to get paid.
'When you hear people saying, 'Oh, such and such made $10m.' That didn't make it to their account. Know that off the top, Uncle Sam is getting 50%. Do the math.
'Now we have $5m – your team is getting 30% off of what you gross, not after what Uncle Sam took. Now do the math.'
As the interview went viral, fans and peers in the acting community shared messages of support.

BBC Sport will air half of the group-stage matches, including both England and Wales' games against the Netherlands, as well as three of the tense quarter-finals. Commentary and analysis will come from Gabby Logan, Jeanette Kwakye, Alex Scott, Ellen White, Jill Scott and Steph Houghton. The England v Wales clash on July 13 will be a big live draw for ITV. BBC will not broadcast Gaza documentary over ‘perception of partiality' risk
The corporation commissioned Gaza: Doctors Under Attack more than a year ago from an independent production company called Basement Films. The documentary includes witness accounts from frontline Palestinian health workers in Gaza and documents attacks on hospitals and clinics. It was delayed by the BBC until an ongoing review into a different programme in the region was completed. The BBC pulled the documentary How To Survive A Warzone in February after it emerged that its 13-year-old narrator was the son of a Hamas official. The corporation has now confirmed that Gaza: Doctors Under Attack will not air on the BBC at all. In a statement, the BBC said they had paused production of this film in April, having made a decision that they could not broadcast the film while a review into a separate Gaza documentary was ongoing. The BBC said that with both films coming from independent production companies, and both about Gaza, it was right to wait for any relevant findings – and put them into action – before broadcasting the film. 'However, we wanted the doctors' voices to be heard. Our aim was to find a way to air some of the material in our news programmes, in line with our impartiality standards, before the review was published. 'For some weeks, the BBC has been working with Basement Films to find a way to tell the stories of these doctors on our platforms. 'Yesterday, it became apparent that we have reached the end of the road with these discussions. 'We have come to the conclusion that broadcasting this material risked creating a perception of partiality that would not meet the high standards that the public rightly expect of the BBC. 'Impartiality is a core principle of BBC News. It is one of the reasons that we are the world's most trusted broadcaster. 'Therefore, we are transferring ownership of the film material to Basement Films. 'Contrary to some reports, since we paused production of Gaza: Doctors Under Attack in April, it has not undergone the BBC's final pre-broadcast sign-off processes. 'Any film broadcast will not be a BBC film,' the BBC said. The corporation added: 'We want to thank the doctors and contributors and we are sorry we could not tell their stories. The BBC will continue to cover events in Gaza impartially.' Last month, Oscar-winning actress Susan Sarandon and comedian Frankie Boyle were among hundreds of signatories calling on the BBC to air the documentary. The letter, signed by figures from across the film, TV, journalism and cultural sectors, was sent on behalf of the UK Screen Industry, made up of a 'group of concerned film and TV professionals'. Earlier this month, the BBC defended its coverage of the war in Gaza, after the White House criticised its reporting of an apparent incident in the territory, which reportedly left a number of people dead. Press secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed the corporation, after updating an article's headline with new information, had to 'correct and take down' its story about fatalities and injuries following a reported incident near an aid distribution centre in Rafah. The BBC said it had not removed its story and explained that its headlines about the incident were 'updated throughout the day with the latest fatality figures as they came in from various sources', which is 'totally normal practice'.
