Korea's Enhans tapped by Palantir for global AI fellowship

Korea Herald26-05-2025

Enhans, a South Korean startup specializing in vertical commerce AI agents, has been selected for the Startup Fellowship organized by US tech firm Palantir Technologies, Enhans said Sunday.
In the "Startup Fellowship 000," Palantir's first startup support program, 25 companies were selected globally, with Enhans being the only one from Korea and one of just two from Asia.
Enhans said it was recognized for its technical leadership, strong execution capabilities, and its potential to lead the next generation of AI-native infrastructure companies.
'This fellowship is not only a validation of our technology, but a global recognition of our capacity to drive disruptive innovation in enterprise AI,' said Enhans CEO Lee Seung-hyun.
'Through this collaboration with Palantir, we intend to present real-world AI use cases that redefine how commerce operates and establish a new global standard for execution-focused agent technologies.'
Enhans' flagship technology centers on its Artificial Intelligence Agents Platform, which consists of three core modules: an AI data collector, a multi-modal decision system for processing logic, and an action transformer. These enable automation in complex operational environments, according to the company.
The AI agent commerce system supports real-time market trend analysis, marketplace product exposure strategies, and pricing strategies.
Through the fellowship, Enhans will work closely with Palantir engineers to enhance its vertical AI agents — built on the Large Action Model — by integrating them with Palantir's core platforms, Foundry and AIP (Artificial Intelligence Platform), the company said.
At the end of the program in late June, Enhans will present its AIP-powered product at a showcase event attended by Palantir leadership, Fortune 50 executives, and global investors, the company added.
"Beyond technical integration, the collaboration is expected to help Enhans validate its global scalability and lay the groundwork for future strategic partnerships," the startup said.
Palantir, a fast-growing AI company in the US, launched the Startup Fellowship to support early-stage companies building AI-native infrastructure.
'The future is here. Launching a wave of AI-native unicorns and being selected into the Startup Fellowship is an incredible accomplishment and a pivotal moment in the startup journey,' Palantir said in describing its first fellowship program.

Walkerhill Hotels & Resorts launches premium golf club in Seoul

Walkerhill Hotels & Resorts opened a premium golf club Saturday at Grand Walkerhill Seoul, becoming the first local hotel brand to introduce such a facility. The Walkerhill Golf Club is part of the company's broader strategy to offer guests a comprehensive leisure destination that combines culture, art and wellness within a single complex. 'As someone who genuinely enjoys golf, I've visited many clubs around Seoul, but I haven't seen one that matches our setting, surrounded by mountains and overlooking the river while offering state-of-the-art facilities and hotel-style service,' said Hyun Mong-joo, chief operating officer of Walkerhill Hotels & Resorts. 'We expect Walkerhill Golf Club to become a leading signature golf destination in the city.' The club features 61 bays, each equipped with Toptracer, the same ball-tracking system used in international golf broadcasts. The system provides real-time feedback on ball trajectory, speed, launch angle and distance, along with in-depth swing and club analysis. Walkerhill also introduced Korea's first AI-powered golf center, offering personalized equipment recommendations and performance insights based on putting, club data and swing motion. A highlight of the club is a short-game complex modeled after the iconic 12th hole at Augusta National's 'Amen Corner.' It includes four greens for approach shots, putting and bunker play, made with high-grade synthetic turf used in Tomorrow Golf League simulator greens. For private practice, the club offers bays designed for two-person use, catering to VIPs. Additional facilities include a golf academy for adults and juniors, a golf-specific fitness center, the TaylorMade Performance Studio, a premium car wash and a cafe featuring Suwon's popular Orange Bagel. A seminar room for small corporate events and lectures is also available. Hyun said the club's launch is part of an effort to appeal to younger audiences. 'Our previous clientele mainly consisted of older hotel fitness members,' he said. 'But with younger generations increasingly sharing experiences on social media, we designed the space to be both visually appealing and interactive. We're also shifting our staff and programs to align with these new preferences.'

Nongshim's Baeksansu passes W1tr in sales, boosted by China facility

South Korean food and beverage giant Nongshim announced Sunday that its bottled water brand, Baeksansu, has surpassed 1.1 trillion won ($800 million) in cumulative sales as of the first half of this year, a milestone achieved 12 years after its launch in 2012. Named after its pristine source near Mount Baekdusan, Baeksansu has charted a steady growth trajectory, posting a compound annual growth rate of 16 percent. The brand recorded 24 billion won in revenue in 2013 and crossed the 100-billion-won mark in 2019. It remains the only commercial bottled water sourced from this site and sold in Korea. A key driver of its momentum is a dedicated manufacturing facility established in 2015 in Erdaobaihe, a town near the mountain's base in China's Yanbian prefecture. The plant, capable of producing up to 1 million tons annually, features a fully automated, AI-supported system that ensures the water remains untouched by human hands throughout the entire supply chain from sourcing to bottling, the company explained. China now accounts for roughly 25 percent of Baeksansu's total revenue. To further tap into this growing market, Nongshim has introduced China-exclusive offerings, including a 5-liter bottle launched in 2022, while partnering with local authorities to certify and promote the water's quality and to roll out marketing campaigns. 'We will continue to highlight Baeksansu's distinctive profile and promote its globally recognized quality as we enter the second phase of growth,' the company said in a statement.

Korea's trade envoy seeks 'pragmatic' tariff talks in first US meeting under Lee

South Korea's top trade envoy departed for the US on Sunday for the first bilateral trade talks since President Lee Jae Myung took office, vowing to pursue 'pragmatic and mutually beneficial negotiations centered on national interest" in resolving pending issues. South Korea's Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo will be in Washington from Sunday to Friday for talks with US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and other senior officials, to discuss trade issues including tariffs and non-tariff measures. The two countries are also set to hold a third round of technical discussions on related issues this week in Washington. Speaking to reporters at Incheon Airport before leaving for the US capital, Yeo said the visit would focus on laying out the new administration's economic philosophy and accelerating discussions on tariffs. 'Since the new administration took office, this is the first time the top trade officials of both countries are meeting,' Yeo told reporters. 'From now on, it is important to establish goodwill based on the goal of accelerating negotiations and reaching a mutually beneficial outcome.' The trip comes as Seoul and Washington had earlier agreed to craft a so-called 'July package,' a comprehensive package deal aimed at eliminating US tariffs on Korean exports before July 8, when the 90-day grace period on 'reciprocal' tariffs expires. Unless a new trade deal is reached, tariffs will jump from the current 10 percent to 25 percent, dealing a blow to the export-dependent South Korean economy. However, Yeo noted that the deadline may no longer be realistic given the shifting situation in the US. 'I think it's no longer necessary to use the term 'July package,'" said Yeo. "The situation in the US is fluid, both politically and economically, making it difficult to predict the situation in early July.' Still, Yeo emphasized that momentum is building under the new administration, noting it is important to do what Seoul can at this moment. 'We will do our best to find a win-win solution for both Korea and the US through in-depth consultations on US tariff measures,' he said, adding he aims to make as many allies as possible within the US to support Korean businesses.
