Jessica Simpson opts for 'new and youthful' hair colour
Jessica Simpson wanted to do something "new and youthful" with her hair.
The 'Use My Heart Against Me' singer showed off her "desert sunset blonde" look - dirty blonde with sunkissed highlights - on 'American Idol' over the weekend and her colourist Rita Hazan explained the 43-year-old star was keen to "switch it up" and couldn't be happier with the results.
Rita told People magazine: "The must-have in my kit that I use on all my clients is Glaze's Supergloss. For Jessica, we used the shade Vanilla Lights — her perfect match to tone down brassiness in her highlights.
"It delivers a rich, shiny payoff, and a silky, polished finish that leaves hair looking refreshed and healthier after just one use.
"She was so happy to get a new look and switch it up. She always had a super buttery blonde — this time we wanted something new and youthful.
"I think it's a fresh and young vibe, but with confidence and a slight attitude to represent her mood. We have been in each other's lives for so many years that there's personal and professional trust."
Rita has worked with Jessica for years and they kick off their sessions with a "hair party", in which they exchange gossip and share a laugh.
She said: "Usually I fly in from New York, and we have a hair party in her bathroom with a few of the same people every six weeks.
"First, we catch up on life for a quick second, and then continue to laugh and tell very personal stories about what we all got into for the month. It's actually hysterical. I don't think there was one time I went there and didn't laugh hysterically."
Jessica recently explained she has "no rules" when it comes to her fashion inspiration, though she often gets ideas from online pinboard Pinterest.
Discussing her latest Walmart for Jessica Simpson Collection, she told People magazine: "For me, personally, style evolves as I do on a personal level, through each stage of my life.
"That's the inspiration for my music right now ... Nashville Canyon is an evolution of past, present, future, versatility, femininity, openness and confidence.
"Anything from a vintage printed wallpaper in a movie I am watching or a performance piece displayed in an old documentary.
"Everyone who knows me knows I am observant. I never miss a detail. Inspiration comes at me in visceral ways, every single day. And I honestly don't know what I would do without Pinterest."

Geena Davis loved the "great diversity" of Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. The 69-year-old star has admitted to being impressed by the casting choices for the action movie, which saw Tom Cruise appear alongside the likes of Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga and Ving Rhames. Genna thinks it's important that the film industry reflects the wider population. The Accidental Tourist star said: "It just makes sense to reflect the people that are watching the movie. "Ultimately, what I think we're trying to prove is that films with unique voices that represent the population are very commercial. Research shows that the more diversity there is on screen, the more money the movie makes. But people haven't really taken that to heart as much as they could." Walmart - the supermarket chain founded in Bentonville - actually created the Bentonville Film Festival with inclusion as its focus. And Genna has relished the opportunity to lead the festival. The Hollywood star explained: "Each department of Walmart has to come up with their sort of public outreach, public service initiative that they do. "The home video department thought, 'Hey, what if we were to have a film festival for representation, that is about representation?' And they thought that was a good idea. And then I was thought of as someone who might be — they needed to get a Robert Redford or Robert De Niro, or somebody named Robert to be the person fronting it. And they thought of me, and I came here and talked to everybody, and I really wanted to do it." The Oscar-winning actress feels proud of what she's managed to achieve with the festival in a relatively short space of time. She said: "We decided to put it on very quickly, so we only had about five months to put it all together for the first iteration. But we pulled it off and it gets bigger and better every year."

Pierce Brosnan didn't give his sons Dylan and Paris acting advice as the trio starred together in The Unholy Trinity
Pierce Brosnan gave his sons "very little advice" as they worked together on the new movie The Unholy Trinity. The 72-year-old star is joined by his youngest boys Dylan, 28, and Paris, 24, - who he has with his wife Keely Shaye Smith - in the film and explained that he didn't want to overload the pair on their acting bows in the Western action flick. Pierce told People magazine: "I gave very little advice, and they asked me for very little advice. I think both men knew instinctively what to do: Show up on time, know your lines, and be brilliant. Be relaxed, and have fun, and go play." However, the former James Bond actor was less impressed by how untidy his sons were in the motor home they shared during the snowy production. Brosnan said: "It was winter, the snow was coming in, they didn't wipe their feet. Just the old common sense, 'Wipe your feet, take your boots off, for God's sake!' You know?" Pierce revealed how Dylan and Paris grew up on his movie sets as they travelled the world with their parents at the height of his movie career. The star - who also adopted his late wife Cassandra Harris' (who passed away aged 43 in 1991 from ovarian cancer) children Chris, 52, and Charlotte - who died from the same disease as her mother in 2013 at the age of 41 - recalled: "We always stayed together tight as a family during the days of James Bond. "(Dylan and Paris) have been on the road with me since they were tiny. Keely and I took them everywhere with us around the world." Paris explained that he and his brother's appearance in the movie "organically came about". He said: "It kind of naturally and organically came about. There were some little opening for us to get in there and dip our toes in the water." Dylan, meanwhile, wasn't concerned about how much screen time he got as he embraced the chance to act alongside his father and brother. He said: "It was just really nice to go spend time with Dad and Paris and be a part of that."

Kelsea Ballerini doesn't want exercise to "feel like a punishment". The 31-year-old singer's favourite way of keeping in shape is to go for a good long walk, but she also takes regular Pilates classes because she "doesn't hate" doing it as much as other formers of keeping fit. She told People magazine about her fitness routine: "For me, it's walks. Walking is so good for you. It also makes you get fresh air and some good sunshine, and that's so good for your mental health. "I'm a Pilates girly. That for me has been my tried and true the last five years because I don't hate doing it, and I don't want working out to feel like a punishment." When it comes to her diet, Kelsea follows an "80/20 rule". She explained: "So 80% of the time I'm really healthy, 20% of the time catch me at McDonald's. "My favourite thing to cook — I've been upping my protein a lot recently just because I didn't realise how much protein we're supposed to have as women— and I cook a really good chimichurri steak ... that is my go-to. "I'll do it a couple of times a week. I have some in the fridge downstairs ready to go." The Cowboys Cry Too singer loves an occasional treat meal from McDonalds, which she believes is a throwback to her childhood. She said: "As a kid, I was such a picky eater, and my parents joke with me, like, 'All you would eat were waffles and chicken nuggets.' So I think it's just probably my inner child craving it still." As she gets older, Kelsea's attitude to fitness has changed with her desire to be "360 healthy". She said: "I think especially in my early twenties and mid-twenties, the idea of fitness was very much only aesthetically driven, and that was my goal. "The older I've gotten, [the more] mentally healthier I've gotten as well... "I want to be mentally healthy. I want to be physically healthy, emotionally healthy, and I want to be able to sustain the life and the career that I've been lucky enough to build for myself... "It's the most important thing to me now, honestly."
