Terry McLaurin's contract concerns have yet to be resolved. While the Washington Commanders still have some time to avoid seeing their key wide receiver act as a holdout for training camp, the process will only get more difficult as time goes on.
Former Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson doesn't know the situation too well, but he knows one thing is for sure: McLaurin is worth a big payday, and he wants to see the Commanders pay accordingly.
"I'm assuming it's got something to do with the pay, so pay the man because the man has been nothing but consistent," Johnson said on the 'Up & Adams' show this week.
"I don't know Terry very well, but from afar, the guy has been nothing but consistent for that organization. He's been a staple there in Washington for his whole career. He plays well. He steps up in big games, and I love watching the kid because he's always making plays."
If Megatron talks, the Commanders should probably listen.
The former second-overall pick out of Georgia Tech has been recognized as one of the greatest receivers of his generation. When he entered the NFL in 2007, Johnson was already teasing a 1,000-yard campaign. He got it by year two, and notched over 1,000 yards in six of the seven seasons that followed.
In 2012, Johnson broke an NFL record by catching 122 passes for 1,964 yards in 16 games. While Johnson went out on his own terms, he finished his career on a bit of a high note, producing 1,214 yards and nine touchdowns in 16 games during his final year.

The latest NFL DFS promo codes gives first-time players up to $2,850 for NFL Week 10 picks. One game to target is WR Terry McLaurin and the Commanders hosting the Steelers. At the end of his career, Johnson had racked up 11,619 yards and 83 touchdowns. Being one of the NFL's most dominant pass-catchers of his time, Johnson knows what to look for in a star wideout. It seems he's supportive of the idea that McLaurin should get paid big by Washington.
Johnson points to McLaurin's consistency. Since entering the NFL in 2019, McLaurin has notched over 1,000 yards in all but one season. During his rookie year, McLaurin caught 58 passes for 919 yards and seven touchdowns.
By 2022, McLaurin made the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career. Last season, McLaurin notched his second Pro Bowl nod and was named second-team All-Pro. It felt fitting for the former Ohio State star to want to lock up a long-term deal as he enters the final year of his current contract.
Since the Commanders haven't been able to put an agreeable contract on the table, McLaurin has skipped the team's mandatory minicamp this week. So far, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn and the second-year quarterback Jayden Daniels seem content with the situation.
We'll see how long it drags out before the Commanders get something done, or feel forced to take the situation in a different direction.

Bill Belichick-Jordon Hudson drama revealed in new emails
Emails obtained by WRAL show Bill Belichick addressing the controversy over his romantic and professional relationship with Jordon Hudson. The relationship between the legendary coach and the 24-year-old model has drawn national scrutiny after a controversial "CBS Sunday Morning" interview. Hudson declared, "We're not talking about that" when Belichick was asked about how the couple met. Belichick claimed in one email that CBS "secretly" had a camera focused on Hudson despite the model requesting to sit off camera. "Secretly, CBS had a camera focused on Jordon where Lead producer Gabe instructed her to sit," Belichick reportedly wrote. Belichick elaborated on why the question of how they met was not answered. "I met Jordon randomly on a flight to Palm Beach in 2021. That is no secret. Jordon was not dodging the specific question regarding how we met, but rather was preventing the interview from continuing to probe into personal matters," the email said. Belichick also addressed why Hudson was present at the interview to begin with. He believed the interview would be focused on his book, "The Art of Winning: Lessons from a Life in Football." "Jordon was present at the CBS interview because David Kass, the Simon & Schuster publicist, was not there," Belichick wrote, referring to the publisher of his book. "I included Jordon in the book acknowledgments because she was a creative contributor to the book, including having the idea for formatting the 4 special pages in the book." In another email, Belichick addressed reports that he requested to have Hudson copied on every email sent to him. "Jordon and I have both a personal & professional relationship," Belchick wrote in the email. "This is not a secret. Jordon assists me with my personal media, which is why I asked UNC to forward media requests (E.G. CBS 60 Minutes) to her. Jordon has zero involvement in the UNC football program, beyond the degree that my personal media intersects with it." Belichick released a statement saying he was "surprised" about getting the questions about his relationship and that when Hudson had stepped in, she was doing her job. He went on to accuse CBS of creating a "false narrative" with so-called "selectively edited clips." CBS responded, disagreeing with Belichick's version of events. In a separate interview with ESPN, Belichick insisted Hudson is not involved with UNC football. NFC West quarterbacks fall into 2 tiers entering 2025
Find out where CBS Sports puts Matthew Stafford, Brock Purdy, Kyler Murray and Sam Darnold in their 2025 QB tiers. The NFL is done with all offseason work and it is the time of year where we get lists and rankings of all sorts. CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin ranked and tiered all 32 projected starting quarterbacks for 2025. The tiers? Arizona Cardinals fans will have interest in seeing where the quarterbacks in the NFC West fall? While we did focus on Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray already, let's see about all four starters in the division. NFC West quarterback tiers The four starters in the division fall into two categories: Borderline stars Matthew Stafford of the Los Angeles Rams and Brock Purdy of the San Francisco 49ers fall here, and they are fairly tiered. Stafford has been elite talent for much of his career, but now he is a little less consistent and needs his playmakers to do more, while Purdy, after MVP-type production, saw his play level out after he missed top offensive players. Volatile veterans Murray probably should be up in the borderline star tier, but he hasn't looked like that since 2021. He isn't necessarily volatile because, at his worst, he plays at a league-average level. Seattle's Sam Darnold is the face of volatile veteran. While his 2024 season showed the level of play he could reach when he was drafted third overall in 2018, he has been wildly inconsistent in his career, prone to turnovers. he won't have the weapons he had in Minnesota, so he will have to prove himself again with the Seahawks. Saints Make Roster Move At Running Back On Friday
Saints Make Roster Move At Running Back On Friday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New Orleans Saints have waived running back Xazavian Valladay on Friday. This was first reported by Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network on Friday afternoon. Advertisement The 26-year-old Valladay had shown some impressive flashes through New Orleans OTA sessions and minicamp this offseason. With the recent signing of veteran back Cam Akers, however, the position had become crowded and the Saints needed to make a move to create roster space. Akers joined a room that already had starter Alvin Kamara and returning veterans Kendre Miller and Clyde Edwards-Helaire. The Saints also signed Velus Jones earlier this offseason and added two rookies in Devin Neal and Marcus Yarns. During his one season with the Sun Devils, he led the Pac-12 with 16 touchdowns and had 1,192 yards rushing. The Houston Texans signed Valladay after he wasn't selected in the 2023 NFL Draft.
