Trial run of buses for Yogandhra
Vizianagaram: The trial run of the much-anticipated 'Yogandhra' event was conducted successfully in Vizianagaram district. Under the leadership of district collector Dr BR Ambedkar, a convoy of 16 buses carried district officials, public representatives, and liaison officers to the designated venues.
What stood out in this initiative was the collector himself traveling in a regular Pallevelugu bus along with the rest of the team, setting an example of simplicity and inclusiveness. During the journey, the collector was joined by District SP Vakul Jindal, S Kota MLA Smt. Kolla Lalitha Kumari, joint collector Sethu Madhavan, Additional SP Soumya Latha, DCMS Chairman Gompa Krishna, and Venue In-Charge Ronanki Kurmanath, among others. All of them traveled together by bus up to the event site and reviewed the arrangements firsthand.
The buses traversed along the National Highway route from Marikavalasa to Thimmapuram Beach. Officials thoroughly inspected the designated routes, drop-off points, and parking areas. For the movement of around 660 buses from the district, parking zones were allocated at four major locations: Thotlakonda, APIIC Hills, Bavi Kondalu, and IT Hills.
The district has been allotted 30 compartments, with approximately 1,000 people per compartment. Each compartment will be supervised by a senior officer, along with dedicated police security and an in-charge official. To streamline coordination, each bus carried a label indicating the compartment number and assigned route, aiding both passengers and police personnel in smooth navigation.

Two held for defiling Ambedkar portrait
Mysuru: Two months after miscreants spoiled the photo of leader BR Ambedkar in a Mysuru village, Varuna police cracked the case by arresting two persons. The accused were remanded in judicial custody. Though the accused, Rangegowda and Vasanth Kumar, were questioned earlier by the police, they pleaded innocence. Initially, the police didn't have any evidence to prove their alleged role, but a deeper probe revealed their involvement in the wrongdoing, the cops said. At the Ambedkar Community Hall in Vajamangala village, miscreants allegedly disrespected a portrait of Ambedkar by smearing it with dirt and tearing the banner on the night of April 18. A case under provisions of BNS Section 298–injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class–was registered at the Varuna police station regarding this incident. As the case was sensitive, a special team was formed under the supervision of superintendent of police Vishnuvardhana N. The team was headed by Mysuru Rural deputy superintendent of police Abdul Karim. The accused, Rangegowda from Kokkarehundi village and Vasanthkumar of Choranahalli village, were arrested on June 19 and produced before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody, police said. Sources claimed that the duo told police that they resorted to the act to take revenge against a village.

Ambedkar's statue ‘vandalised' in Hoshiarpur; SFJ's Pannun booked
A first information report (FIR) was registered against unknown persons after a statue of Dr BR Ambedkar was allegedly found vandalised on Tuesday. The statue was installed on top of a private building in Noorpur Jattan village in Garhshankar sub-division. Pro-Khalistan leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun of the banned outfit 'Sikhs For Justice' (SFJ) has claimed responsibility for the statue vandalism on social media. Village sarpanch Shingara Ram denied any such incident, stating that marks on the statue's hands were old, but Bahujan Samaj Party and Ambedkar Sena of India leaders took a serious note of it and demanded strict action against the accused. BSP leaders have even threatened to start an agitation if the culprits are not arrested within a week. The FIR has been lodged on the complaint of Ambedkar Sena general secretary Kulwant Singh Bhuno who said that he came to know about the vandalism through a video which is circulating on social media. The video shows a hand cutter being used to damage the statue's hand but the sarpanch said that there was no electricity connection in the vicinity. He said he had spoken to the NRI son of the deceased land owner at whose building the statue was installed and he had confirmed that the damage was old. The sarpanch said the panchayat was planning to shift the statue to a Valmiki Temple in Mahilpur. Meanwhile, Hoshiarpur superintendent of police (investigation) Dr Mukesh Kumar said an FIR under sections 298 (injuring or defiling a place of worship) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at Mahilpur Police Station against Pannun and some unidentified persons. Garhshankar deputy superintendent of police Jaspreet Singh said that the statue had been cordoned off and the police were examining the video. Garhshankar MLA Jai Kishan Singh Rori also visited the site and condemned the incident. BSP state president Avtar Singh Karimpuri has demanded an inquiry into the matter and said if the culprits were not arrested within a week, his party would hold a protest in Garhshankar.
