NRL world sends flood of messages as husband confirms news about Yvonne Sampson
Yvonne Sampson is set to take a temporary break from her TV role with Fox League after it was revealed over the weekend that she's expecting her second child. The popular NRL host is in the latter stages of her pregnancy, but has kept the lovely news a secret the whole time despite being due in July.
Sampson's husband Chris O'Keefe confirmed to the that they're expecting a second child to join son Henry. "Henry's about to be promoted to big brother and we're absolutely thrilled. Chaos incoming," he said.
O'Keefe said they've been keen to keep their private life as private as possible, hence why they didn't reveal the pregnancy news earlier. But he said some of Sampson's Fox League colleagues suspected something was up during the NRL's opening round in Las Vegas.
Sampson was heading up Fox League's coverage, but spent a lot of her downtime in her hotel room. "When Vonny locked herself in her hotel room in Vegas for Round 1, a few of her colleagues started to suspect something was up," he said. "But we managed to keep it quiet, it's important to us to keep our private life, private.
"She's an extraordinary mum. She is not just the heart of our home, but the brains, legs, arms and everything else too. I'm honestly just trying to keep up. Henry absolutely adores Vonny, watching them together fills me with so much happiness."

Speaking in February about the trip to Vegas, Sampson said she wouldn't be letting her hair down. "I will be packing my dignity because it's a work trip," she said on SEN radio. "I can't say the same for the entire Fox crew because some of them do like to party, but I'll be last in and first out.
"[Fox Sports bosses] are very particular about [the rules]. We don't single anyone out but we do have an all-encompassing briefing and there are documents we have to sign that say 'I understand my responsibilities'. All of the rules that apply to out workplace (in Sydney) apply in Vegas."

With Sampson on maternity leave, Fox League have had to shuffle the decks to fill the void. Braith Anasta will move to Super Saturday, while Lara Pitt takes over the Friday night coverage. Jake Duke has been promoted to host the Sunday Ticket, while Jess Yates will stay on for Thursday Night Footy.
Fans sent a flood of messages on social media to congratulate Sampson and O'Keefe after learning the pregnancy news. One person wrote: "So good. Both nice people." Another commented: "Congratulations - make sure you come back Vonnie you are a superb commentator."

Mullins dreaming of Melbourne Cup again after Royal Ascot win
By James Toney at Royal Ascot Willie Mullins is a man with a plan and when he sets his sights on a target, he normally hits the bullseye. Mullins has made no secret of his ambition to win the Melbourne Cup, the world's richest handicap, and thinks he's got a live chance for Flemington this year. He thought one-time Triumph Hurdle winner Vauban was 'the one' for 'The Cup' but he came home a distant 14th when favourite two years ago and only improved that position by three last November. Absurde got Mullins closer with a top five finish last year, just a couple of lengths behind winner Knight's House and his owners will be hoping Royal Ascot winner Ethical Diamond can do even better. York's Lonsdale Cup now appears the likely target in August with Mullins hoping all road will then lead back Down Under. "We will give him a little break and look at York – that is normally where we go from here," he said. "The Ebor would look possible too but we would love to go to Melbourne. If we can get him qualified, that would be wonderful, I think he'd really suit that race. "It's probably the biggest flat race in the world that I can win with the type of horses we buy and that's why it's a race that we'd really love to win. We've keep coming back and trying to win it but you've got to have the right horses, so let's see." It's over two decades since Mullins's first crack at the 'race that stops a nation', with a second, third and fourth on his resume, including Max Dynamite's lucky runner-up position ten years ago. And he's quick to recount the story of his first trip to the iconic race 32 years ago, cheering Dermot Weld's Vintage Crop - the first overseas winner - to a victory and changed 'The Cup' forever. Mullins took his career tally at Royal Ascot to 11 on Friday and has the odds-on favourite in the final race, the marathon Queen Alexandra Stakes. Sober is a quality French-bred stayer last seen winning a novice hurdle in Killarney, while fellow Irish jumps trainer Gordon Elliott could provide the biggest challenge with the unpredictable Samui, who finished at the back of field in the Coral Cup at the Cheltenham Festival. Aidan O'Brien is locked in a battle for his 13th Royal Ascot top trainer title heading into the last day of the meeting. Ballydoyle's five wins leaves them deadlocked with John and Thady Gosden but ahead on the standings because they've had one more third position. However, Ryan Moore should comfortably wrap up his 12th top jockey prize, Oisin Murphy needing to ride a last day three-timer, while hoping Moore falters. O'Brien and Moore arrived here needing one more Group One win to bring up their 150 as a partnership but landing Ascot's biggest prizes is no easy task. Storm Boy is their only entry in the Saturday showpiece Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes and while there are plenty ahead of him in the market, his trainer remains cautiously optimistic. "He finished ninth at the Curragh last time but we knew he would need that run and he's come forward since then," he said. "He's fast and has shown us plenty of speed at home. We hope you will see a different horse to the one you saw at the Curragh. However, perhaps the best O'Brien chance of the day belongs to Donnacha, with Comanche Brave a warm favourite in the Jersey Stakes, where brother Joseph also fires the highly-rated Saracen. "The trip and ground will certainly suit him," said Donnacha O'Brien. "He's put together two good runs this season and we're hopeful he'll run a big race." Five different Irish trainers have been in the winners' enclosure this week and Festival winning trainer John McConnell fires a long shot in the Wokingham Stakes, with 2022 Jersey Stakes winner Noble Truth. The Kingman-colt has been lightly-raced since and has gained a wild child reputation, with Luke Morris the brave man in today's saddle. A high draw on the straight track at Ascot has been favoured this week and Noble Truth will leave from gate 31 at a huge price.

No Origin stars, no worries; Panthers in boilover win
An undermanned Penrith have secured a critical 28-18 victory over the high-flying Warriors despite missing their swag of State of Origin stars. The Panthers arrived in Auckland without five stars including Nathan Cleary and Isaah Yeo due to the travel factor from Origin II in Perth to New Zealand. But the rookie outfit shocked the third-ranked hosts in their Saturday clash to bank a third straight win and continue their climb up the NRL ladder. Depending on results the defending premiers could finish inside the top eight at the end of the round for the first time since Las Vegas in the opening round. Winning seven of their past eight matches, the Warriors were expected to outclass Penrith but the Panthers' young halves Blaize Talagi and Brad Schneider stood up to steer the visitors home. Talagi won't be stopped 🔥 #NRLWarriorsPanthers Telstra Moment of the Match. — NRL (@NRL) June 21, 2025 With Moses Leota leading the way up front with 147 run metres, second rower Scott Sorensen also stood tall, scoring two of their five tries. The Warriors weren't helped by losing Marata Niukore to a head knock 10 minutes into the match and then winger Dallin Watene-Zelezniak, who appeared to suffer a serious ankle injury. Sorensen went on report for the tackle that ended Watene-Zelezniak's night. Trailing 6-8 at halftime, the Warriors' hopes of a big finish were also hobbled as halfback Luke Metcalf struggled with a quad injury. The Panthers started with a bang with Sorensen held up over the line early but they made no mistake in the 16th minute when centre Casey McLean found winger Tom Jenkins, who bagged a hat-trick last week. In a pulsating contest the Warriors soon levelled with a ball bouncing up for Jackson Ford after Leka Halasima skittled Penrith players leaping for a Metcalf bomb. Sorensen again put his team ahead, scoring his first try with three minutes remaining in the half. The Warriors edged ahead soon after the break through Jacob Laban but the full house at Go Media Stadium had little to cheer about until a 78th minute consolation try by Moala Graham-Taufa. In the meantime, the Panthers piled on a further three tries, with Talagi and winger Paul Alamoti getting in on the action, to seal the win.

'Superman''s David Corenswet Recalls ‘Intense' Time He Screen-Tested for the Movie During Wife's Pregnancy (Exclusive)
David Corenswet tells PEOPLE that he and his wife had to keep two big secrets when they found out she was pregnant and he was cast as Superman "We had these two quite huge secrets that we just had between the two of us," he says Corenswet is PEOPLE's latest cover star as the new Superman movie is poised to take flight this summerFor Superman star David Corenswet, 2023 was a busy year: He learned he'd be a father and landed the part of the Man of Steel. In PEOPLE's new cover story, the Philadelphia native, 31, recalls going through the 'intense' time with wife Julia, 34. 'She told me that she was pregnant two days after I found out I was going to screen test for Superman,' says Corenswet. 'For the first several months of her pregnancy, as is sort of protocol, we weren't telling anybody. We had these two quite huge secrets that we just had between the two of us. And that was intense.' 'For a period we had just each other for these two huge things,' continues Corenswet, who says Julia's due date originally coincided with when he was set to start filming in early 2024. 'It was very close. It wasn't direct, but it was still very close. But it was just having to do two big unknown things at the same time. And they were both great things,' he says. The good-natured Corenswet found the lighter side of the situation. 'She gained about 40 pounds while she was pregnant and in the same period I gained about 40 pounds gaining weight for Superman,' he recalls. 'I started snoring and had to use her pregnancy pillow.' The actor says he was at his home, on a break from making the 2024 movie Twisters, when he got the call from Superman director James Gunn telling him he had been cast in the lead role. 'It started with, 'Hey David, it's James Gunn.' And I said, 'Can you prove that?' I guess in the moment before when I saw the unknown 310 number, I thought, 'I'm pretty sure this is James telling me whether or not I got the part, but it could be anybody from Los Angeles who has my number and maybe somebody's going to play a prank on me,' " Corenswet says of the phone call that changed his life. 'Anyway, I think he appreciated that and he said, 'That's a good point. I'm calling to offer you the role of Superman.' And I said, 'Well, you're the only person who could do that, so it must be you,'' Corenswet continues. Now he's hoping he did the role justice. 'I feel much more a sense of responsibility than a sense of accomplishment having done the role. I also know that so much in life and especially the life of an actor is up to chance and good luck, and certainly you get what you make of your situation,' he says. 'I just think of it as a great stroke of luck and I better do everything I can to earn the responsibility,' Corenswet continues.
