Former Texas Church Pastor Arrested on Child Pornography Charges After He Told Adult Phone Operator He Fantasized About Young Kids
A former Denton church pastor and Lewisville ISD volunteer has been arrested and is facing charges relating to child pornography, according to jail records.
Jim Dale Mustain, 64, was booked into the Denton County Jail on May 14. Lewisville police said a warrant was issued for his arrest on April 23 for four counts of possession of lewd visual material depicting children. Then, on April 30, an additional warrant was issued for possession of child pornography.
Mustain was taken into custody in Ashe County, North Carolina, and then brought back to Texas. He remains in the Denton County jail with a $100,000 bond for each charge.
Phone Sex Operator Said Mustain was One of Her Clients, Sent Pics of Young Girls and Talked About His Fantasies with Them
According to the arrest affidavit, an anonymous caller contacted the police and said she used to be a phone sex operator, and Mustain was one of her clients. The caller said the company created Skype accounts for the operators to talk to their clients. Mustain provided his real name and phone number on the Skype account.
The caller said Mustain sent pictures of little girls fully clothed and expressed his fantasies of what he wanted to do to the girls. The investigator saw the photos provided by the anonymous caller, confirming they were all children, male and female, around 7 years old and younger, either clothed or in bathing suits.
The anonymous caller said she decided to contact the police after Mustain sent her a photo of what appeared to be a nude 6-year-old girl. She conducted an internet search for him and found a non-profit website that suggested he had interaction with children in schools, and that concerned her.
Lewisville Police Executed Warrants to Conduct Search on Mustain's Devices and Found 'Multiple Offensive Images' on His Laptop
Lewisville police obtained warrants to confiscate and search Mustain's electronic devices. During the search, they found "multiple offensive images" on Mustain's laptop, the affidavit states.
According to the affidavit, investigators also learned that a family member had reported Mustain two years ago. The family member told police Mustain had images of children, mostly young girls, roughly between the ages of 6–10 years old, in underwear or wearing outfits such as swimsuits and dance leotards, on his iPad.
Church Where Mustain Previously was a Pastor Releases Statement
The Preston Trail Community Church confirmed Mustain is a former employee. He served on the church's staff as a community pastor from 2019 through 2023.
"Immediately upon learning of the allegations, we retained a third-party law firm to conduct a thorough, independent investigation. We are grateful to report that the investigation found no evidence of any illegal activity by him while employed at Preston Trail," said Senior Pastors Jim Johnson and Paul Basden in a message to the congregation on the church's website.
Church executives said there is no indication at this point that any children connected to the church were involved or harmed. Mustain's role did not include direct responsibilities to children or student ministries, they said.

This made my day: SBS Transit staff members return backpack containing items worth $5,000 to passenger, Singapore News
A passenger who misplaced his bag at Hillview MRT station was relieved when two station staff members returned it to him 20 minutes later. This occurred at about 11pm on April 4. According to a Facebook post made on May 17 by SBS Transit, a commuter had found the backpack in question and handed it over to a station staff. Station Manager Asenan and Assistant Station Manager Kenneth then secured the backpack immediately. "As it was close to midnight, I hoped the owner would retrace his steps back to the station," Asenan said. The passenger, a man named Michael Wu, did return to Hillview MRT station some 20 minutes later. After his identity was verified, the bag was returned to him. In a Facebook post on April 5, Wu expressed his gratitude to those who found his backpack and safeguarded it. "Last night, in a moment of inadvertence, I got off the train at that station and left my backpack on the subway," he wrote. "The backpack was very important to me, containing two laptops, an iPad, and my wallet with many bank cards," Wu continued, adding that he "was going crazy and thought it would be nearly impossible to recover it". "You saved my night and helped me avoid a financial loss of over S$5,000! There are no words to fully express my gratitude," wrote the man. Wu ended his post by wishing SBS Transit all the best, hoping that it continues providing secure and responsible travel services to residents. "In a world where it's easy to look the other way, honesty is a powerful choice," wrote SBS Transit. "To the good Samaritan who chose to do the right thing, and to Asenan and Kenneth – we thank you for your integrity and kindness." [[nid:714302]]

Dad pleads for lighter sentence for 20-year-old NSF who traded child porn online: 'I understand he has done wrong'
Dad pleads for lighter sentence for 20-year-old NSF who traded child porn online: 'I understand he has done wrong' Christine Tan The Straits Times May 6, 2025 A 20-year-old full-time national serviceman who had 10 sexually explicit videos of children on his electronic devices, and traded such videos with other individuals on social networking platforms, has been sentenced to 12 months' reformative training. Mohamed Danial Rafiuddin Mohamed Rashid was deemed unsuitable for probation. He will be detained in a centre to undergo a strict regimen that can include foot drills and counselling. Danial pleaded guilty on Feb 4 to one count of having the video clips on his iPad and mobile phone. At his sentencing hearing on May 6, Deputy Public Prosecutor Samuel Chew said that after Danial pleaded guilty, he gave information to his probation officer that contradicted court documents. This showed that he lacked remorse and acceptance of responsibility for his offence, said the prosecutor. Danial had told investigators that he was first exposed to child pornography some time in 2016, when he came across a Facebook group containing videos of children engaging in sexual acts. He obtained copies of such videos by screen recording and saving them on his electronic devices. DPP Chew told the court previously: "The accused also admitted that he traded and exchanged child pornography videos with other like-minded individuals on Telegram, WhatsApp and Facebook. "The accused admitted to doing so... until a few weeks prior to his arrest (in 2023), and that he had traded with around 10 to 15 individuals." Without revealing details, the prosecutor said that in December 2023, the police received a tip-off that Danial was suspected to be in possession of child abuse materials. Officers raided his home later that month and arrested him. They also seized his electronic devices, including his mobile phone and iPad. One of the clips showed a girl who appeared to be between five and seven years old, while the other nine videos showed boys who seemed to be between six and 14 years old. After Deputy Principal District Judge Kessler Soh handed down the sentence, Danial's father pleaded for a more lenient sentence for his son. Speaking through a Malay interpreter, his father said: "I understand that he has done wrong and his offence is quite serious. However, I hope your honour could lower his sentence as he is still young; he is still in national service." His father added that he always accompanied Danial while he was out on bail, and his son has not reoffended since. Judge Soh said he understood the sentence was difficult for Danial's father to accept, but that the duration of reformative training is necessary to ensure he does not reoffend. The judge also directed the family to speak to a court counsellor after the hearing.
