[1] Victims of DWI scheme file class action lawsuit – Victims of the DWI corruption scandal involving officers from multiple law enforcement agencies are joining forces in a class action lawsuit. [2] NMDOJ joins other states to sue Elon Musk, DOGE – New Mexico Attorney General Raul Torrez and 13 other attorney general's are taking legal action against DOGE and Elon Musk. Recently, Musk, who was granted access to sensitive government data, played a role in cutting the federal workforce and pushed to eliminate entire agencies. Torrez argued that President Trump violated the appointments clause of the U.S. Constitution by creating a new federal department without congressional approval and by granting Musk over federal agencies without the consent of the Senate. In their lawsuit, the plaintiffs are asking the courts to invalidate Musk's work and bar him from issuing any orders to anyone in the executive branch outside of DOGE.
[3] Snow, rain, & wind in New Mexico on Valentine's Day – Mountain snow is moving into northwest and northern New Mexico and southwest Colorado. Some of this snow will be heavy at times, especially in southwest Colorado and in the northern mountains. Lower elevations will see a break in the precipitation before a line of rain and mountain snow moves in from the west early Friday afternoon. For Albuquerque, we will likely stay dry most of the day, with increasing rain chances by Friday evening. It will fizzle out by late Friday night, but some mountain snow showers will continue through the overnight hours. Quieter weather returns late Friday night into early Saturday morning.
[4] ABQ City Council President calls for better communication with Mayor's Administration – Albuquerque's city council president calls it a major breakdown in communication between councilors and Mayor Tim Keller's administration. The conflict comes after the Keller administration told councilors they need to start emailing their questions for department heads ahead of council meetings to ensure accurate answers. Thursday, Councilor Brook Bassan released a letter saying she is now considering not putting the mayor's items on council agendas. In response to Bassan's letter, the Chief Administrative Officer says she's 'always happy to discuss whatever challenges individual councilors are having.'
[5] New weather station on the Zuni Pueblo expected to save lives – A key piece of equipment that could save lives is up and running on the Zuni Pueblo. The new weather station at the Andrew Othello Airport is now the official weather station for the Zuni Pueblo area, providing real time updates to pilots and meteorologists. Community leaders says this will be a game changer for them and for the critical patient care that is needed in the area, an issue that was highlighted when hundreds of emergency calls couldn't be answered during bad weather.

UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich arrested again, held without bond

Just weeks after he cut a probation deal following a 2023 DWI arrest, and not long after a 30-day jail sentence, UFC Hall of Famer Pat Miletich has been arrested again. Miletich was booked into the Scott County (Iowa) jail Friday and is being held there, currently without bond, for his third operating while intoxicated offense – a felony. In April, the 59-year-old Miletich pleaded guilty to a DWI charge from September 2023 and was given two years probation. Miletich also was ordered to complete a drunk driving education course. In March, Miletich had another incident while driving with a revoked license and pled not guilty. That case still is pending. In 2021, after his involvement in the Jan. 6 insurrection attempt at the U.S. Capitol, the LFA fired him from its broadcast team. His involvement in MMA since then has been minimal – though he did take a politically charged fight against Mike Jackson in 2023. For that fight, he arrived at the press conference just hours after the arrest for which he just made the probation deal. He lost that fight when he didn't answer the bell in the third round. Miletich first became known for becoming UFC welterweight champion and his Miletich Fighting Systems gym in Iowa that produced several UFC champions. But in recent years, the narrative around him shifted to focus on his right-wing conspiracy theory stances online and his multiple DUIs and regular run-ins with the law, typically involving intoxication allegations while driving.

Elon Musk Accidentally Doxxes Himself While Sharing Results of a Drug Test

Elon Musk accidentally doxxed himself while trying to prove he isn't a drug addict. After a New York Times exposé about his drug use revealed that Musk has taken so much ketamine, it's given him bladder issues, the former chief of the cost-cutting Department of Government Efficiency posted a second drug test on X in the space of a week. The Times also reported Musk had taken ecstasy, magic mushrooms, and Adderall regularly. On Tuesday, Musk posted the results of a urine test that showed he was drug-free, with no traces of 16 substances, including amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, or opioids. He followed up with a hair follicle test the following day—and goaded Times reporters to post the results of their own drug tests. 'The WSJ & New York Times fake 'journalists' lied through their teeth about me,' he wrote in the caption. 'Now let's see their drug test results. They will fail.' But Musk inadvertently leaked the last four numbers of his Social Security number, putting the billionaire at risk of identity theft from hackers and scammers. The Daily Beast has asked Musk for comment about the leak of his personal information. The Times put out a statement following the publication of Musk's drug tests that said it stood by its reporting. 'Elon Musk is continuing to lash out because he doesn't like our reporting,' the outlet wrote. 'Nothing that he's said or presented since our article about his drug use during the presidential campaign was published contradicts what we uncovered.' Musk is sensitive about his personal security. In March, he banned several journalists from Twitter for reporting on the itinerary of his private jet, claiming that users sharing the publicly available information were broadcasting 'basically assassination coordinates.' During his time in the White House, he surrounded himself with up to 20 bodyguards who were deputized as federal marshals, which allowed them to carry weapons on federal grounds. As of Friday, Musk has not commented on the leak of his personal information or removed the post. Musk shared the details of his drug tests after falling out with President Donald Trump following his departure from DOGE. At the height of their feud, Trump referred to Musk as a 'big-time addict' and said, 'He's got a problem. The poor guy's got a problem.' The Wall Street Journal further reported in June 2023 and January 2024 that the billionaire regularly used party drugs like ketamine, LSD, cocaine, ecstasy, and psychedelic mushrooms. In a 2024 interview with former CNN host Don Lemon, Musk admitted that he took a 'small amount' of medically prescribed ketamine every two weeks for depression. 'If you've used too much ketamine, you can't really get work done, and I have a lot of work,' he said at the time. Musk's drug tests were carried out at the Fastest Labs of South Austin in Texas, though without the involvement of a third party, it is impossible to determine their veracity.

Jon Jones says 'reflection' led to UFC retirement –\u00a0as news breaks of more legal trouble

In his social media history, Jon Jones has earned a reputation for tweeting, then deleting. But it seems like this one will stick. Saturday, not long after UFC CEO Dana White announced Jones had called him to announce his retirement the night before, Jones posted on social media to confirm he has decided to walk away from the sport. Jones (28-1 MMA, 22-1 UFC) had been playing a cat-and-mouse game with interim champion Tom Aspinall, who has been elevated to undisputed champion. After White's announcement at the UFC on ABC 8 post-fight news conference, Jones posted a message saying he was leaving "after a lot of reflection." But not long after that post, news broke online from the Albuquerque Journal, the largest news outlet in the city Jones has lived and trained in for years, that Jones once again is in legal trouble. According to the report, there is a criminal summons accusing Jones of leaving the scene of an accident. He is scheduled for a bond arraignment July 24, the Journal reported. The details of the criminal complaint reported by the Journal include accusations that Jones left the scene of a crash with a half-naked and intoxicated woman in the car, and when reached by phone, a man thought to be Jones made "allusions to violence" to multiple police officials. After the crash, according to the police complaint, Jones called the woman's phone more than a dozen times and also sent text messages. The woman said she drank at Jones' house and took mushrooms there, then next recalled being in a car crash after Jones allegedly was driving. In 2015, Jones was arrested for a felony hit-and-run involving a pregnant woman. He pled guilty to leaving the scene of an accident. He had a DWI conviction in 2012. He had another in 2020 that came with gun charges, later dropped in a plea deal, in the early days of the COVID pandemic. Jones is the first fighter in UFC history to twice be stripped of titles, and he threw in a third for good measure. The first was for his hit-and-run while he was light heavyweight champion. The second was for his first doping violation the following year. In a rematch win over Daniel Cormier in 2017, he failed a drug test for steroids in California and was suspended again – and stripped of a title again. In 2021, after a domestic violence arrest in Las Vegas the night after he went into the UFC Hall of Fame, his longtime team at JacksonWink MMA in Albuquerque gave him the boot and no longer wanted to be associated with him. He was sentenced to anger management classes in 2024 after an alleged altercation with a drug sample collection agent. In 2019, he pled no contest to charges of battery against a strip club waitress. His supporters, of course, say that he also won fights – which is true. He was the youngest champion in UFC history at 23 and holds a host of promotional records. His retirement statement, below, said he had gratitude for his "journey."
