GHMC officials told to rev up land acquisition for Rasoolpura flyover

Hans India06-06-2025

Hyderabad: The city's infrastructure is set to undergo a major transformation, as the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has taken up the flyover project at Rasoolpura under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) initiative. Commissioner RV Karnan directed officials to expedite land acquisition for the flyover.
On Thursday, as part of the Secunderabad Railway Station redevelopment, RV Karnan inspected nearby bus stops and reviewed the progress of related infrastructure works. He also visited the proposed site for the Rasoolpura flyover and instructed officials to initiate immediate land acquisition.
Officials informed the Commissioner that a 24-meter stretch of land from the railway boundary is required for the project.
Project SE Srinivas requested the Commissioner to allocate alternate land for the existing bus stop to facilitate its relocation. The inspection aimed to ensure smooth progress of infrastructure works and minimise disruptions.
The Rasoolpura flyover project was proposed in 2019 during the tenure of the BRS government. However, the project continues to face inordinate delays, as 1.62 acres of land belonging to the Inter-State Police Wireless Staff Quarters still need to be transferred to the GHMC.
Last month, Commissioner RV Karnan, along with Zonal Commissioner Ravi Kiran, inspected various ongoing and proposed works in the Secunderabad zone.
The inspection covered key areas, including Tarnaka, Chilkalguda, Patigadda, Rasoolpura, and Prakash Nagar. Karnan reviewed the construction of the Tarnaka Junction Island, landscaping plans, and the proposed site for the Chilkalguda H-CITI Road under Bridge (RuB). He also assessed the proposed AOC Road, the Rasoolpura flyover site, alignment works, and land acquisition needed for the expansion of the Patigadda Railway Over Bridge.
The Commissioner directed officials to address waterlogging issues near Prakash Nagar and Hyderabad Public School (HPS) by immediately initiating desilting works.
The state government has accorded administrative sanction for 23 works under the H-CITI Project, amounting to Rs 5,942 crore, superseding the earlier sanction of Rs 4,305 crore.

YSRCP slams govt for politicizing tragic accident

Vijayawada: The YSRCP has strongly condemned the TDP coalition's attempt to politicize the tragic accident that resulted in the death of party activist Cheeli Singaiah during YS Jagan Mohan Reddy 's recent visit. Former minister Ambati Rambabu said that it was unfortunate to portray the accident as a big conspiracy, instead of treating the matter with the sensitivity it deserves. "The ruling coalition is attempting to exploit it for political gain," Ambati alleged. The YSRCP leader pointed out that Prathipadu YSRCP in-charge Kiran Kumar immediately rushed to the hospital upon receiving news of the accident and remained with the bereaved family until the postmortem was completed, offering them full support. The following day, senior party leaders from the district, including Ambati, visited the family and handed over a cheque of Rs 10 lakh as financial assistance. The district superintendent of police, Satish Kumar, has clearly stated that the vehicle involved in the accident was a private vehicle, not part of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's convoy. The driver and owner were identified and interrogated, confirming that the accident had no connection with the convoy itself. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Brass Krishna Idols For Prosperity & Protection In Life Luxeartisanship Shop Now Undo Despite this, the ruling coalition released a video four days after the incident, falsely blaming YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Ambati criticized the Naidu-led govt for failing to provide adequate security to YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, a Z+ security protectee. "A rope party and road clearance team must lead the convoy, but the government has deliberately compromised on Jagan's security," Ambati alleged. This is not an isolated instance, as similar security failures were observed during YS Jagan Mohan Reddy's tours in Rapthadu and Podili. The coalition govt is using these lapses to orchestrate a character assassination campaign against the former CM, he claimed. The YSRCP demands a transparent and impartial investigation into both the accident and the security lapses that continue to put the life of a Z+ protectee at risk. "We urge the state govt to immediately rectify these lapses and stop using such incidents to settle political scores," Ambati said. The party reiterates that human tragedy must never be used as a political weapon.

Telangana: BRS MLC Kavitha seeks BC leaders support for proposed rail roko protest on July 17

Hyderabad, June 22 (UNI) Telangana Jagruthi president and BRS MLC, K Kavitha, on Sunday sought BC Welfare Association national president and Rajya Sabha MP R Krishnaiah for the proposed 'rail roko' protest scheduled on July 17. Kavitha, the daughter of BRS Chief and former CM KCR, who met Krishnaiah at his residence in Vidya Nagar here, requested his support for the ' Rail Roko' agitation, which aims to pressure the Central government to secure Presidential Assent for the bills granting 42 percent reservations for BCs in local body elections which passed by the Telangana Assembly earlier. Speaking to reporters on the occasion, MLC Kavitha lauded R Krishnaiah for leading numerous democratic and social movements. She stated that they have been fighting vigorously for two years to implement the Kamareddy BC Declaration given by the Congress party. She criticized the ruling Congress government, stating that despite the possibility of providing 42 per cent reservations through a GO under Article 243(D) of the Constitution, the government is not doing so and is instead shifting the blame entirely onto the President, planning to go into elections without providing reservations. She accused the Congress government of limiting its love for BCs to words and not showing it in actions. She expressed the need to collectively confront this anti-people policy, especially with leaks suggesting that the cabinet meeting might decide on local body elections. She explained that public movements appear to be the only way to pressure both central and state governments, hence the "Rail Roko" initiative. She declared, "Oar Ek Dhakka... BC Bill Pakka..." R Krishnaiah stated that MLC Kavitha is standing by the BCs and leading a movement, and he called upon all BCs to participate widely and support MLC Kavitha's movement. He praised Kavitha's struggle for the BCs, who have been subjected to injustice for generations. He remarked, "For whom is MLC Kavitha doing this movement? Isn't it for us? Therefore, we all need to support MLC Kavitha's movement. If we don't take up this movement, we have no future." He alleged that the state government is diverting public attention by rejecting the fact that the Constitution grants the state government the authority to determine the percentage of reservations in local bodies. He demanded that a GO be issued if there is genuine commitment to provide 42 percent reservations. He warned that holding elections without providing reservations would be a historic betrayal of the BCs. He unequivocally stated that if reservations are not increased, the BCs will not let go of the government. He warned that elections must be held only after providing 42 percent reservations for BCs, otherwise, there would be a "war" in the state. UNI KNR SS
