BUKIT MERTAJAM: The Seberang Perai City Council (MBSP) said all enforcement actions taken by its officers are conducted fairly and professionally, in accordance with legal provisions and standard operating procedures (SOP).
In a statement today, MBSP said it is aware of a video circulating on TikTok that alleges misconduct in the seizure and return of confiscated items by its enforcement officers.
'Anyone with disputes or allegations should lodge an official complaint with MBSP to enable the matter to be reviewed and investigated based on evidence and facts.
'The spread of unverified information does not help the situation and may mislead the public and disrupt legitimate enforcement efforts,' the statement said.
MBSP also reaffirmed its commitment to accountability and integrity, stating that it will not tolerate any form of misconduct by its personnel and that disciplinary action will be taken if there is a breach of the code of conduct.
The council added that it will continue to carry out enforcement duties responsibly, firmly and transparently, in line with its mandate to safeguard public interests and the sustainability of the city.
Earlier, a man uploaded a video to his TikTok account, accusing MBSP enforcement officers of failing to return all confiscated items to traders despite full payment of the issued compound.

Police Probe AI-Manipulated Viral Video Featuring Former IGP
SHAH ALAM, June 21 (Bernama) -- The police are investigating a viral video showing an individual resembling former inspector-general of police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah, allegedly linked to the receipt of financial aid from a person with the title 'Datuk'. Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the video, which began circulating on the TikTok social media platform on June 20, was fake and had been manipulated using artificial intelligence (AI) technology. 'The video, which purportedly links the former police chief to the receipt of financial assistance from an individual named Datuk Abdul Ghani, and that the money had been deposited into a bank account, is completely untrue and baseless. 'The Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters stresses that the 13th Inspector-General of Police never issued any statement as depicted in the video,' he said in a statement today. Hussein said Acryl Sani had lodged a police report denying that the video contained any official statement from him. He also advised the public not to share the video and urged them to verify the authenticity of any content before believing or disseminating it on social media. 'Selangor police take seriously the misuse of technology, such as AI, for the purpose of fraud or slander that could damage the reputation of any party. Firm action will be taken against those involved in spreading this fake content,' he said. The case is being investigated under Section 419 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. -- BERNAMA

S. Korean taxi driver under fire for sexually harassing Thai tourist
SEOUL: A South Korean taxi driver is facing public backlash after allegedly making a sexually inappropriate comment to a Thai tourist, raising safety concerns among travellers. According to a video posted on Thursday (June 19) by a Thai woman in her 30s, her friend was verbally harassed while taking a taxi to Seoul Station to board a KTX train to Busan. She posted the video on TikTok with a warning that read, 'Be careful when taking taxis in Korea.' The driver, attempting to communicate using a translation app, allegedly asked inappropriate personal questions such as 'Do you have a boyfriend?' and 'Why aren't you married yet?' He then suggested he could help her find a job, saying: 'It's not hard. You just need to clean rooms.' When the alleged victim mentioned she was travelling to Busan, the driver reportedly responded, 'Shall we go to Busan in this taxi?' and added, 'If you don't have money for the fare, you can pay with your body.' The account owner said the most frightening moment for her friend was when the driver stopped the car and kept talking to her. Before reaching the destination, he gave her his phone number and asked when she would return to South Korea. 'Korea is a safe country and has many good people,' the Thai national wrote in the caption, 'but don't assume it is 100 per cent safe.' The video quickly spread on social media, prompting outrage among South Korean netizens. Many condemned the driver's behaviour, calling it 'a disgrace to the country' and noting that such incidents unfairly damage the reputation of other taxi drivers. Some users left apologetic comments on the TikTok account, with one writing, 'As a Korean, I'm sincerely sorry', and another added, 'You came to Korea expecting good memories, but now you're leaving with a traumatic experience. As someone who loves Thailand, I'm truly sorry.' - The Korea Herald/ANN

The TikTok video, posted by @Shaharizalrizalabdullah, shows the woman screaming at workers just trying to do their job. The workers had temporarily parked their truck there to efficiently walk house-to-house collecting garbage around the residential area. Even after the truck started moving away, she followed them down the street, still wielding her wooden stick like some deranged neighbourhood vigilante. gila itu banyak jenis dan kategori….. memang gila ahhhh The Comment Section Had Thoughts The internet wasn't having it. 'It's normal for trucks to stop in front of houses. Only you're being dramatic, auntie,' one user fired back. Another suggested that workers should skip her house entirely: 'After this, no need to collect garbage in front of her house anymore.' The most savage comment? 'So if they don't stop, will your garbage fly into the truck by itself?' READ MORE : Share your thoughts with us via TRP's . Get more stories like this to your inbox by signing up for our newsletter.
