Washington - Saba:
Egypt's Al-Ahly started their journey in the FIFA Club World Cup, currently being held in the United States, with a goalless draw against Inter Miami in the opening round of Group 1. The match took place at Hard Rock Stadium early Sunday, Sana'a time.
The Egyptian team missed a golden opportunity to secure all three points, squandering several clear chances to score. Mahmoud Hassan "Trezeguet" failed to convert a penalty in the 43rd minute, saved by Inter Miami's standout Argentine goalkeeper, Oscar Ostari.
The American side, led by Argentine star Lionel Messi, posed little threat to Al-Ahly's goal, aside from a few individual attempts that all went off target.
Al-Ahly will face Brazil's Palmeiras in their next match on Thursday, while Inter Miami takes on Portugal's Porto in the second round of Group 1 fixtures.
The United States is hosting the first expanded edition of the FIFA Club World Cup, featuring 32 teams from June 14 to July 13, 2025. The tournament is being held across 12 stadiums in 11 cities, most of which are located in the eastern part of the country.
