Russia Develops Technology for Obtaining Fats from Microorganisms

Omsk State Technical University (OmSTU) is developing a technology for obtaining fats and oils by microbiological means. This will increase the nutritional value of products and make them more healthy and balanced. This was reported by the press service of OmSTU, a partner of TV BRICS.
It is noted that obtaining fats by traditional methods depends on the climate and season and requires significant expenditures on agricultural equipment and personnel. The new method is based on the use of microorganisms – Rhodotorula glutinis, which is capable of accumulating beneficial fatty acids that are important for the cardiovascular, nervous, and immune systems, according to TV BRICS.
During the development process, scientists create a nutrient medium for yeast, investigate ways to break down the cell wall for maximum fat extraction, and work on purifying and stabilising the product.
According to Maria Kerber, a student at the Faculty of Art and Technology at OmSTU, microbiological fats are a promising area of biotechnology that can meet the growing demand for edible fats. She added that work is currently underway to reduce the cost and scale up the technology for industrial production. This will help reduce dependence on agriculture and improve the environmental situation.
The resulting product can be used in the dairy, meat, and confectionery industries. The technology will ensure stable production regardless of the season and will allow the composition of fats to be adapted to the needs of medicine, dietetics and baby food.

Israel Reopens Airspace After Temporary Closure
Israa Farhan Israel has reopened its airspace following a temporary closure prompted by recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, as regional tensions continue to rise. Kuwait Activates Emergency Shelters for Government Staff
Israa Farhan Kuwait's Ministry of Finance has activated its national emergency plan following US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities, opening fully equipped shelters for government employees as a precautionary measure. According to Kuwaiti daily Al-Jarida, the ministry has implemented a series of comprehensive protective measures to ensure the continuity of financial and public services in the event of regional escalation. Among the key actions taken is the readiness of civil defense shelters within the Government Complex building, with the capacity to accommodate up to 900 personnel. The shelters are rated C4 and are reportedly in excellent operational condition. In addition, contingency storage areas have been designated for emergency use, and financial systems have been migrated to backup platforms to ensure uninterrupted operations. The ministry has also enabled secure remote working capabilities through specialized cybersecurity programs to safeguard digital infrastructure. The emergency preparations were triggered in the wake of US President Donald Trump's announcement on Sunday that American forces had conducted airstrikes that destroyed three nuclear facilities in Iran.
