Bobby Costello was last seen in the Channel 4 soap in 2023.
Played by Jayden Fox, the troubled teen made a dramatic exit after he was sent to a juvenile detention center.
He was responsible for the deaths of Sylver McQueen, Silas Blissett and Verity Hutchinson, and the attempted murder of DeMarcus Westwood.
With the Hollyoaks residents living in 2026, Bobby is returning to the village three years later - but with a brand new face.
Hollyoaks bosses have cast Waterloo Road star Zak Sutcliffe for a dramatic new storyline.
The actor has began filming at the show's set in Liverpool and will appear as the recast version of Bobby in the next few weeks.
Speaking to Digital Spy, Zac said: "I'm having a lot of fun with my time on Hollyoaks so far. It's exciting to get into something gritty and complex."
Zak is best known to soap fans for playing bad boy Schuey Weever in Waterloo Road.
His other acting credits include roles in Doctors, Casualty, No Offence and Grimsby.
The young actor also has history with Hollyoaks, as he played guest character Tommy Bradshaw for two episodes in 2021.
Hollyoaks legend returning to the soap a year after quitting
Bobby isn't the only soap villain that will be retuning to the Chester village.
The Sun revealed that Gemma Bissix is returning to Hollyoaks after a 12 year hiatus.
The blonde bombshell will reprise her role as minx Clare Devine next month despite being KILLED off.
The shock twist will take place as the show celebrates its 30th birthday this year.
From Hollyoaks to Hollywood
James Corden played a caretaker in the early days of the soap.
The former American TV host doesn't have much positive to say about his time on the soap, claiming it was "hell on earth."
Since his short-lived time on the show he has gone on to bigger things including smash hit comedy Gavin and Stacey.
Rachel Shenton joined the soap as aspiring glamour model Mitzeee Minniver in 2010.
Over two years her character was sent to prison, got pregnant and had a number of romantic affairs.
Since leaving Hollyoaks she has won an Oscar for best live action short film, The Silent Child.
Rachel has also starred in White Gold and All Creatures Great and Small
Emmett J. Scanlan played gangster turned anti-hero Brendan Brady.
Emmett played the love interest of Steve Hayes, with their romance delighting fans until it turned violent.
Since his departure Emmett has appeared in Peaky Blinders, The Fall, Gangs of London and even appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy
Emma Rigby joined Hollyoaks when she was 15 as Hannah Ahsworth.
Hannah's eating disorder storyline was the first of it's kind on TV while other plots included being caught in a fire, gangland drug dealing and running away.
Since leaving the soap in 2010 Emma has gone on to star in ABCs Once Upon a Time in Wonderland as the Red Queen. Other roles include guest appearances in Death In Paradise, Ripper Street and Fresh Meat
Nico Mirallegro got his big break with Hollyoaks starring as emo Barry 'Newt' Newton.
Nico's main storyline in the soap was developing schizophrenia which culminated in a suicide pact.
He left the soap in 2010 and went on to star in My Mad Fat Diary, Our Girl, Rillington Place, The Ark and Common, Penance, as well as the Mike Leigh movie Peterloo and was nominated for a Bafta for his role in period drama The Village.
Ricky Whittle used Hollyoaks as a stepping stone to break America.
He played one of the soap's resident hunks, Calvin Valentine, from 2006 to 2011 - when he was killed off at his wedding.
After leaving the soap Ricky cracked America starring in teen drama The 100 and America Gods.
He also appeared in Strictly Come Dancing in 2009.
Warren Brown joined Hollyoaks in 2005 for a year as evil Andy Holt.
His stint on the show consisted of date rape storylines and a crime spree, before eventually being killed off.
After leaving Hollyoaks, Warren became a big hitter in TV playing DS Justin Ripley in Luther, as well as major roles in a number of dramas including Liar, The Responder, Homefront and Good Cop.
Wallis Day played Holly Cunningham in the soap for years before leaving.
In 2021 Wallis won the role of Batwoman in DC's series, taking over from Ruby Rose.
It comes after EastEnders viewers had been expecting her to reprise her role as Clare Bates on the rival BBC One soap after her on-screen dad Nigel, played by Paul Bradley, has mentioned her on air several times.
Gemma appeared on Albert Square for 15 years before leaving in 2008.
A source said: 'Gemma's much anticipated return to Hollyoaks has been kept top secret and her character is set to stir up plenty of on-screen drama as the soap kicks into gear around it's 30th birthday.
'She is delighted to be asked back, especially as she's rising from the dead. The scenes will be explosive.'
Gemma's Hollyoaks character Clare wreaked havoc but met a brutal demise in 2013 when she was mowed down by Doctor Browning, following a shove from Mercedes McQueen.
Reflecting on her departure at the time, Gemma said: 'I think at the time, Clare had had so many ups and downs.
"The character has to expire at some point - you can't be that evil and not get your comeuppance.'
Hollyoaks airs Monday to Wednesday on E4 at 7pm.

Legendary BBC presenter quietly bows out after almost 50 years of TV hosting
BBC and ITV sports presenting icon Steve Ryder gave his last broadcast on Sunday as he presented the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park for ITV4 Sports presenter Steve Ryder has announced his retirement from broadcasting after an impressive 48-year career. The 75-year-old covered major sporting fixtures for both the BBC and ITV over the course of his time on the air. On Sunday, the star was broadcasting from the British Touring Car Championship at Oulton Park in Cheshire when he revealed he would be hanging up his microphone. He was covering the event for ITV4 when he announced the news of his departure from the screen. A montage of clips was then shared showing drivers including Lando Norris, Nigel Mansell, Damon Hill, Jenson Button and David Coulthard all bidding farewell to the broadcaster. Over the years, he has hosted Sportsnight and Sports Personality of the Year, as well as the BBC's coverage of every Olympic Games between 1988 and 2004. He departed the BBC in 2005 and joined ITV where he presented coverage of Formula One, as well as the football and rugby World Cups. His final appearance proved to be a muted exit, but he has previously explained why he decided the time had come to quit. He told the Daily Mail: "The biggest emotion as you get into the last two minutes of something like that is, 'For God's sake, don't c**k it up.' "Because you'd be thinking about that for the next 20 years. I've probably outstayed my welcome. I've been hugely lucky with the places that the career has taken me. But it's close to 50 years now, so the cracks are showing." Steve famously used to present Match of the Day and was left miffed when he was replaced by Gary Lineker as the main host - admitting he had cut the former footballer out of his life. The beef began when Gary said in 2015 that he though the R&A as 'pompous' and accused them of feeling like 'superior beings'. This, in turn, provoked a furious reaction from Steve. He told the Golf Paper: "I hold Gary Lineker in the highest regard as a football presenter, but his reflections on his experiences as a golf presenter need a huge reality check. For four years, the R&A and most other observers knew that Gary was the wrong man in the wrong job. Hazel Irvine has just delivered once again at the Open presentation skills of the highest quality. Not many people can do that and Gary certainly came up short. "Roger Mosey, the head of sport, knew Gary was a golf fanatic and was further encouraged by Gary apparently volunteering for the Masters vacancy within a few minutes of my exit from Television Centre. "But if Mosey thought long and hard before offering Gary the golf job, it's even more baffling. Match of the Day is scripted and rehearsed. Golf presentation, especially at Augusta, is seat of the pants, unpredictable and demanding." Away from sport, Steve also won praise for being open about a battle against prostate cancer after he was diagnosed with the disease in October 2023. He underwent emergency surgery which stopped the cancer from spreading. He previously told BBC Breakfast: "They took one look and said, 'We're going to operate in two weeks'. "No messing around. We did Brands Hatch for ITV on the Sunday and I had the operation on the Thursday. So it slotted into the schedule quite nicely!"

Stephanie Davis confirms split from boyfriend five months after giving birth and admits she's 'in shock'
The Hollyoaks star had fuelled speculation she split from five-month-old son Samuel's dad when she snubbed him on Father's Day Hollyoaks star Stephanie Davis has confirmed her separation from boyfriend Joe McKalroy after a week of speculation. The actress, 32, had been dating Joe since 2022 and they welcomed baby son Samuel five months ago. Last week it was reported that the romance had come to an end after a message Stephanie shared on Father's Day that didn't mention the father of her child. Rumours went into overdrive after further comments from the former Celebrity Big Brother star, and on Sunday she took to Instagram to share a huge life update with fans. She revealed they have gone their separate ways. Stephanie also told followers she's now raising Samuel as a single parent, but didn't give details about the reason for the split. She said: "Never in a million years did I think I'd be writing this. I've been left with no choice but to address the rumours." She continued: "This has come as a complete shock and has been an incredibly painful and unexpected time. Just four months after having a baby - one of the most vulnerable and emotional times in a woman's life - I've found myself facing this chapter on my own." The TV personality then hinted at her previous relationship with Jeremy McConnell, who she shares a seven-year-old son with. She added: "After everything I've been through in the past, I truly believed I'd finally found my happiness - something secure and lasting. But that, heartbreakingly, hasn't been the case. "I'm grateful for the years we had because, without us, I wouldn't have my Samuel. Who will always be my priority. "Right now, I'm focusing on healing, protecting my peace, and doing the best I can - being there for my two beautiful boys. Thank you to those who've reached out - your kindness has meant more than I can say." Earlier, Stephanie had shared a post marking five months since Samuel's birth, as reports the Mirror, and again she did not mention Joe. She said: "This Day 5 months ago you came into this world. Only 5 months old today ( I know he's still a tiny baby). It's crazy to think he's not been out in this world as long as he was in my tummy. "From nearly losing you in the beginning, the worst pregnancy, I couldn't walk with pelvic girdle trapped in the house for months and months, a terrible birth, then lifting doing every night feed lifting after a C-section, then your breathing episodes which was the scariest time of my life, it's been a long hard traumatic road. "But here you are thriving my miracle my rainbow... my world... everything I do is for you and your brother and I will always be here every single day for you, cheering you on." She added: "I'm so lucky getting to watch you grow every single day by your side into the most beautiful little boy. It So sad I don't have many photos of me and you bar selfies I've taken, but from now on I'll make sure we have many together. You will always be my priority. I love you baby." Antiques Road Trip star opens up on daughter's heartbreaking health battle and family 'struggle'
BBC Antiques Road Trip star Phillip Serrell said daughter Clementine's battle has been 'difficult' and 'hard to understand' Antiques Road Trip star Philip Serrell has opened up about his daughter's heartbreaking battle with anorexia. The BBC expert has been open and honest in the past about Clementine's health struggles, despite finding it hard to understand at first. Now that she's in recovery, Clementine wants to raise awareness and support others who are facing the same challenges she's experienced. Phillip shared his own struggles to comprehend what she was going through. He said: 'A s a dad, it's been very difficult, I've found it very hard to understand. "I've spent 62 years enjoying eating and it's very hard not to say 'Just eat, it's easy'." He also reflected on the progress his daughter made, admitting she's 'come through this on her own'. But Phillip candidly admitted his family are not out of the woods yet, and there are still tough situations to navigate. He added: 'Christmas a very difficult time of year because people suffering with anorexia get booze and food shoved at them - and that's very hard to deal with." Phillip's daughter first stepped into the public spotlight with her journey back in 2020 when she took to social media to post a comparison image of herself. In one of the pictures, she was at the height of the devastating illness, and in the second recent snap, she looked happier and healthier and working towards healing, as reports Devon Live. Brave Clementine aimed to empower others with her words, and said: "Never think you can't escape." She then went on to detail her battles with anorexia and bulimia, explaining she thinks the catalyst was the end of a significant relationship. She believes the internal turmoil led to feeling disassociated from her life. She disclosed that in 2011, she made herself vomit 'about eight times' on New Year's Eve, waking up on New Year's Day "full of shame and utter self loathing". The next year, she started suffering from anorexia. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Get the latest news sent straight to your messages by joining our WhatsApp community today. She went on: "That was the worst year, and Christmas, ever. It was just pure hell, with no escape. I was TOTALLY consumed by the eating disorder, addicted to it, addicted to counting calories and 'burning off' what I could. I weighed EVERYTHING. I counted the calories in EVERYTHING. I hated what I'd become but I was petrified of giving up that addiction." She said her journey to recovery has felt painfully slow at times as she added: "After a long, and at times sooooo painfully slow, recovery I'm here, where I am now... I will always talk about eating disorders, and I'll always be honest. I don't post things like this for any praise or anything like that but to show others that you can get your life back." She said she is now committed to raising awareness about eating disorders. She went on: "I will always talk about eating disorders, and I'll always be honest. I don't post things like this for any praise or anything like that but to show others that you can get your life back. And also because I genuinely believe EDs are still very misunderstood and that kills me a bit. 'This is a hard time to go through, especially if you have an eating disorder but know that there can be life on the other side. And know that you really are strong enough to get there."
