Bears' Devin Hester, Brian Urlacher named to NFL All Quarter Century team
The Chicago Bears have struggled over the past couple of decades, but they've had some impactful players along the way. None bigger than linebacker Brian Urlacher and return specialist Devin Hester, who were inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and 2024, respectively.
ESPN's Aaron Schatz and Seth Walder unveiled their NFL All Quarter Century team, which includes a slew of Hall of Famers, future Hall of Famers and some of the most impactful players in the game. There were two Bears players who made the cut, and they're two of the franchise's most recent Hall of Fame inductees: Linebacker Brian Urlacher and return specialist Devin Hester.
Urlacher is the latest in a long line of Hall of Fame linebackers for the Bears, where he established himself as an incredibly athletic and gifted player in the NFL. He spent all 13 seasons with Chicago, and he's the franchise's all-time leader in solo tackles (1,040). Urlacher was named first-team All Pro four times and was selected to the Pro Bowl eight times. He also earned Defensive Rookie of the Year (2000) and Defensive Player of the Year (2005) honors. Urlacher was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
"The Urlacher-led Bears had the third-best defense in terms of EPA per play from 2001 to '12," wrote Walder. "His 22 career interceptions are the second most by any linebacker in the past 25 years, behind only Lewis' 26. Urlacher ranks fourth among all players in plus-EPA per game at minus-3.59, too."
Hester is widely considered the greatest return specialist in NFL history as he forever changed how the game was played as a returner. Hester's a three-time first-team All Pro and four-time Pro Bowler who boasts an impressive resume. He has more punt returns than anyone in NFL history with 14, his 20 total non-offensive touchdowns are also the most in league history, and he has the highest average yards per punt return among those with at least 300 returns in NFL history.
"Though Hester is remembered for scoring on the opening kickoff in Super Bowl XLI, he was actually more prolific as a punt returner," wrote Walder. "Fourteen of his return touchdowns came off punts; no other player recorded more than four in that same span. In 2024, he became the first return specialist to be inducted into the Hall of Fame."
Urlacher and Hester played together in Chicago for seven years (2006-12), where they led a 2006 team that played in the franchise's last Super Bowl, which they lost to the Indianapolis Colts. Still, Urlacher and Hester both left a lasting impact on the NFL's most storied franchise.

Browns Expected to Cut Ties With $14 Million Quarterback
Browns Expected to Cut Ties With $14 Million Quarterback originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The next step in the preseason for the Cleveland Browns is training camp, which begins between July 18-22 based on player designation. A few weeks after that, at least one of the team's four active quarterbacks is going to be unemployed or playing elsewhere. Advertisement Precisely who that will be is a matter of debate. ESPN's Peter Schrager predicted earlier this week on "The Pat McAfee Show" that it would be one of the two veterans, Joe Flacco or Kenny Pickett, and he leaned toward the latter. However, Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated recently noted on "The Herd with Colin Cowherd" that Shedeur Sanders, who by all accounts remained QB4 following mandatory minicamp this month, is currently fighting more for a job than he is battling for the starting job. Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders (12).Ken Blaze-Imagn Images As such, his recent citations for traveling 26 mph and 41 mph over the speed limit -- including clocking 101 mph in a 60 mph zone -- are potentially a bigger deal to the Browns front office than they might be if he was the No. 1 overall pick like Cam Ward in Tennessee. Advertisement That could open the door for Sanders to get cut or traded if he doesn't handle this scenario well in the aftermath and/or struggles mightily in training camp. But it was Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network who appeared on "The Rich Eisen Show" on Friday and predicted that either Sanders or Dillon Gabriel will ultimately start for Cleveland in Week 1 and that Pickett, a former first-round selection of the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2022 NFL draft, will be released or traded come late August. "Talent-wise, I think both those guys have a huge advantage over Kenny Pickett," Jeremiah said. "Pickett has to be light years better than each of them to make the team. To me, I think Joe Flacco is just in case they don't feel like they can be competent at the position, then you insert Joe. I think their Week 1 starter is going to be one of those two rookies." Advertisement The Browns traded for Pickett earlier this offseason, sending a fifth-round pick and quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson to the Philadelphia Eagles in return. Pickett is entering the final season of his four-year, $14 million rookie contract in 2025. Report: Shedeur Sanders Pulled Over By Police Tuesday Morning
Report: Shedeur Sanders Pulled Over By Police Tuesday Morning originally appeared on The Spun. Shedeur Sanders, the Cleveland Browns rookie quarterback, was reportedly pulled over by police on Tuesday morning. Advertisement Sanders, who was taken in the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, was reportedly pulled over for allegedly driving faster than 100 MPH. The former Colorado Buffaloes and Jackson State quarterback was pulled over shortly after midnight on Tuesday morning. He was allegedly driving 101 MPH, more than 40 MPH faster than the speed limit. The rookie quarterback was reportedly stopped on 71 North around 12:24 a.m. on June 17, according to FOX 8 in Cleveland. He was issued a citation and he can fight the ticket in court. Shedeur Sanders was speeding, according to According to FOX 8 in Ohio, speeding has become a major issue in the state. More than 3,000 people were pulled over for driving faster than 100 MPH last year. More than 83,000 people were pulled over for driving 20 MPH faster than the speed limit. Advertisement The Ohio Traffic Safety Office sent a clear warning: 'There is no excuse for extreme speeds.' The Cleveland Browns have yet to comment on Sanders getting pulled over. The son of NFL legend Deion Sanders has made it clear that he wants to put his head down and get to work. Shedeur Sanders has been praised by teammates for staying after practice to get extra work in. ESPN NFL insider Peter Schrager recently praised Sanders based on what he had heard from those inside of the Cleveland Browns facility. "I've heard he was outstanding in the building," Schrager said about Sanders in a Tuesday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show. Advertisement Getting pulled over by the police for driving 100 MPH doesn't negate any of that, but it's not a good thing, either. NFL teams don't want to have to deal with off-the-field issues, especially with players that are borderline in terms of making the roster. It'll be interesting to see if this impacts Sanders' chances of making the browns.
