Coming off a career year with the Philadelphia Eagles, Saquon Barkley shocked the football world with comments about his future. Following his viral remarks, one NFL legend sent a message to the star running back.
While making an appearance on Chris Long's "Green Light" podcast, Barkley gave his thoughts on his runway in the NFL. He hinted at having an abrupt retirement similar to his mentor and idol Barry Sanders.
"I'll probably be one of those guys that it'll be out of nowhere. I'll probably just wake up one day, whether it's next year or two years or four years, and just be like, 'Yeah it's over,'" Barkley said.
Seeing that he won a Super Bowl and nearly made history with the Eagles last season, these comments threw many people for a loop. After hearing what the reigning Offensive Player of the Year had to say, Sanders himself decided to chime in on the topic.

During a recent interview with CBS, Sanders sent a message to Barkley regarding his retirement remarks. He likes what he sees from the Eagles back on the field, and doesn't want to see him hang up his cleats anytime soon.
"You should stick around for a little while. As a fan, I'm enjoying watching him play," Sanders said. "I still see him as still being very young. I'm excited with what he's been able to do in Philadelphia, and really, just his journey. He was written off by the Giants, and to see the kind of year he had last year, I know he still has a lot of great years left in him."
Sanders also applauded his fit on a loaded Eagles roster and hopes his comments were just feelings in the moment and will change over time.
"Sometimes, players feel that [way], and once they get into camp and into the season, they feel different," he continued. "Philadelphia feels like a great place, a great home for him, so hopefully it's just sort of a temporary thing that he's experiencing, that he'll continue to enjoy the success there with that great team that they've assembled."

Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce have date night in NYC

The post Taylor Swift, Travis Kelce have date night in NYC appeared first on ClutchPoints. Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce take date night to the Big Apple. On Friday (June 20), Swift and Kelce were seen exiting hand in hand out of the Italian restaurant Torrisi in New York City. According to footage captured by fans who were leaving a restaurant nearby, Kelce shook the hand of one of the staff members of the restaurant and followed behind Swift. After a quick exchange between the pair, Kelce looks for Swift's hand and leads her into the black SUV that was waiting for them. The two looked pretty casual as Swift wore a striped pleated mini skirt with a blue corset tank and white heels. She opted to let her hair down in NYC's recent heat and wore her signature bright red lipstick. As for Kelce, he wore an all-white outfit that consisted of a U.S. soccer shirt, white shorts, and crisp white Air Force 1s. Over the past few weeks, Kelce and Swift have been seen outside more for their date nights. They recently attended Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers. The Panthers later ended up winning the series in back-to-back years. A date night to watch the Panthers makes sense for the couple as throughout their relationship, which began in 2023, they have been at several sporting events together such as the US Open and of course Swift has attended several Chiefs games cheering the tight end on. They also have been spending time in Florida as Kelce is in a minicamp for the upcoming NFL season and is renting a luxurious $20 million Boca Raton mansion during his stay there. In addition to dinner dates, Kelce recently opened up about how they also love staying in for a movie night at home. On last week's episode of the New Heights podcast which he cohosts with his brother Jason Kelce, Travis shared that he is 'down to watch' the 1990 classic romance comedy film Pretty Woman. The three-time Super Bowl champion revealed that the movie starring acting powerhouses Julia Roberts and Richard Gere 'has been on [his] and Tay's movie list for a while.' Swift has been making the most of her time in Florida and even recently visited a children's hospital. While she was putting a smile on the faces of patients and staff members, the singer even made a sweet nod to Travis in a video shared on X. 'My boyfriend is training here, so I just thought I'd come and see how you're doing,' Swift told a patient during her visit to the Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital in Hollywood, Florida. The upcoming NFL season will kick off in September with the Chief's first game will be in Sao Paulo, Brazil against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 5. An insider revealed why Swift is so excited for this season. 'Not just because she loves supporting Travis, but because for the first full season since they started dating, she's not juggling a packed tour schedule,' the source told PEOPLE referring to Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour. 'This fall will be completely different,' the source continued. 'It's the first season where she's not constantly flying back and forth or working around an entire touring calendar.' NFL analyst says former Steelers QB Kenny Pickett deserves the benefit of the doubt with Browns

The selection of quarterback Kenny Pickett in the first round of the 2022 NFL draft might go down as one of the worst picks of former Pittsburgh Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert. Sort of a going-away present for the Steelers in Colbert's final draft. Now, in 2025, Pickett is now on his third team in four seasons and is hoping he can get a fresh start with the Cleveland Browns and try to win the starting quarterback job. Meanwhile, most members of the Cleveland media have already requisitioned the Hall of Fame bust for rookie Shedeur Sanders and have no interest in hearing about Pickett. But NFL Network reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala says people are being too tough on Pickett. She joined the Ken Carman Show and talked up Pickett and his journey that landed him with the Browns. The Browns currently have longtime veteran Joe Flacco as the starter with Pickett as the No. 2. Then there is a battle between rookies Dillon Gabriel and the aforementioned Sanders. Since most teams only keep three quarterbacks, training camp will help the Browns decide who is the odd man out.

Waiting for his next NFL team to call, free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. seems open to that team being the New York Giants. As Beckham was one of many pro athletes to flock to Fanatics Fest this weekend, the veteran wide receiver was ordered by an audience member to join the Giants. An amused Beckham gave the fan what he wanted. "I got you," said the 32-year-old wideout. A fan tells Odell he should sign with the Giants at Fanatics Fest. 'I got you,' Odell Beckham Jr. 👀 (via @AryePulliNFL) — SleeperGiants (@SleeperGiants) June 21, 2025 Life in the NFL hasn't treated Beckham too well lately. Although his 2021 run with the Los Angeles Rams allowed him to earn his first Super Bowl ring, it came at a tough cost. After scoring in the Super Bowl, Beckham left the game during the first half with a knee injury. The team feared he tore his ACL. Beckham's worst fear was confirmed. Since Beckham's eight-game run with the Rams, he took a season off for recovery and joined the Baltimore Ravens for the 2023 NFL season. In 14 games with the Ravens, Beckham caught 35 passes for 565 yards. He ended up scoring three touchdowns during the regular season. Odell Beckham #13 of the New York Giants runs in for a touchdown during their game against Los Angeles Chargers at MetLife Stadium on October 8, 2017 in East Rutherford, New two playoff games with the Ravens, Beckham caught just four passes for 34 yards. He failed to find the end zone in both games. Last year, Beckham looked forward to another fresh start as he joined the Miami Dolphins for the year. He started the season off on the PUP list, dealing with an injury. By October, Beckham finally made his Dolphins debut. He appeared in just nine games. After catching nine passes for 55 yards, Beckham and the Dolphins agreed to part ways. The veteran wide receiver was waived in mid-December. He hasn't been picked up since. Beckham is a long way from the player he was when he joined the Giants as their 12th overall pick in 2014 out of LSU. At the time, Beckham burst onto the scene with a 1,305-yard campaign as a rookie, scoring 12 touchdowns. He dominated secondaries throughout his first three seasons, averaging over 1,300 yards per season and totaling 35 touchdowns. During the 2017 season, Beckham played in just four games as he dealt with an ankle injury. Although he managed to cross the 1,000-yard threshold for the fourth time as a member of the Giants in 2018, New York traded Beckham to the Cleveland Browns during the 2019 offseason. Since leaving, Beckham eventually made it clear that he was still quite fond of his time with the NY Giants. It doesn't come as a surprise that he didn't shoot down the idea of going back to them recently. For more New York Giants and NFL news, head over to Newsweek Sports.
