Commanders QB Jayden Daniels upsets Eagles' fans again

Jayden Daniels was asked about the toughest CB to face in the NFL right now. 🤔He said that Eagles CB Quinyon Mitchell was a good choice but that wasn't his answer: Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels had one of the best rookie seasons in NFL history last fall. You could argue that Daniels' rookie season rivals any in professional sports history. In addition to individual success, Daniels led the Commanders to 12 wins and an appearance in the NFC championship game. It was Washington's best season in 33 years. Washington's division rival, the Philadelphia Eagles, also had an impressive rookie class last season. First-round cornerback Quinyon Mitchell and second-round corner Cooper DeJean led the Eagles' rookie class. Mitchell finished second in the voting for NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year. On Saturday at Fanatics Fest in New York City, Daniels was asked about the toughest cornerback to face. He was asked about Mitchell, but said he was most looking forward to facing Denver's Patrick Surtain II in 2025. Surtain won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in only his fourth season. Of course, Eagles fans found some way to be disrespected by Daniels' saying he was most looking forward to facing Surtain. The Commanders will play the Eagles twice, and the Broncos are on Washington's slate this season. Why were Philadelphia fans mad? Just read the comments, if you choose. Since the Commanders came back late in the fourth quarter to upset the Eagles in Week 16 last season — a game in which Daniels threw five touchdown passes — Philly fans have had an unhealthy obsession with Daniels. Despite all the Eagles' success, some Philadelphia fans turn their attention to Daniels, even when he's not involved. Why? Because they know Daniels is special. The Commanders having Daniels also means that Washington is no longer a pushover. The old NFC East rivalry is back.

Josh Harris buys rare Jayden Daniels' card for $500K

Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris bought the Jayden Daniels Prizm Black Finite 1/1 for $500,000. This makes it the most expensive Jayden Daniels card sale ever. 🤯Rothcards, the previous owner of the card, agreed to the deal during Trade Night at Fanatics Fest, also… The Fanatics Fest in New York City this weekend featured some of the biggest names in sports. Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Eli Manning and Lebron James were just a small sample of some of the names in attendance. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was also at Fanatics Fest. Daniels wasn't the only Commander in New York City over the weekend. Washington managing partner Josh Harris was also at the event? So why was the Commanders' owner at the event? Well, for two reasons. First, Daniels and Harris hosted "Command the Room," a conversation on what it means to lead, build, and rise to the moment." Harris wasn't done. He and Daniels attended Trade Night at Fanatics Fest, which featured some of the country's top collectors, and a rare Daniels card caught Harris's attention. Fanatics CEO Michael Rubin asked for the most expensive Jayden Daniels card. It didn't take long for a collector to reveal he had it and who he outbid for it. What was the card? It was a 2024 Panini Prizm Black Finite rookie card. At first, they debated the card's worth, with the collector saying $2 million. He explained that the card's value is even higher now because it's graded 9.5 and Daniels "cooked in the playoffs." Finally, Rubin asked the collector if he'd take half a million for the card from Harris and he would also receive a signed Daniels jersey. The collector took the deal. Here's the card: Roth Cards sells Jayden Daniels Black Finite Prizm 1/1 RC for $500K to @Commanders owner Josh Harris at Fanatics Fest Trade Night‼️Card is set to be displayed at Northwest Stadium 🏈 #TheHobby So, is Harris an avid collector? It doesn't sound like it, but he has some cool plans for the rare card. Harris plans to display it at Northwest Stadium this season. Another win for Harris.

NFL legend calls LeBron James 'the greatest ever'

LeBron James treated sports fans to a special event in New York City on Saturday. At Fanatics Fest, which was held at the Javitz Center, he hosted live versions of "The Shop" and the "Mind the Game" podcast. For "The Shop," he was joined on stage by legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady. Brady retired following the 2022 season, and he is considered by most to be the greatest player, or at least the greatest QB, in the history of football. Brady appeared to glaze James a bit when he referred to the Los Angeles Lakers superstar as "the greatest ever." 'You're witnessing the greatest ever and I hope you all appreciate that,' Brady said. The debate about where exactly James belongs on the list of the greatest players in NBA history rages on, but his accomplishments speak for themselves. He became the league's all-time leading career scorer two years ago and is now at 42,184 regular-season points and 50,473 points in the regular season and playoffs combined. He has won four NBA championships (although he has lost six times in the NBA Finals), has won four league MVP awards and is one of a handful of players who have at least one scoring title and one assists title. James has a player option for next season. The 40-year-old is expected to play at least one more season in the league, and what he does beyond that is anyone's best guess at this point.
