President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. said Monday that his political party, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP), has become a formidable force in public service.
The President, in a statement made more than a month after the May 12 midterm polls, said the PFP members are now 'agents of meaningful growth and progress in the country.'
'I convey my most heartfelt greetings to my fellow members of the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas. Thank you all for your continued support, unwavering commitment, and solidarity in uplifting the lives of Filipinos. I am truly proud of what we have accomplished in the past years. Because of our concerted efforts, we have become a formidable force in public service,' he said in a video message.
'This is proof that our vision and everything we stand for as a movement and as a party resonate loudly with our people. That is why we must continue to sustain the party's brand of governance that Filipinos have come to expect from us and make sure that our actions are transparent, effective, and responsive to the needs of our citizens,' Marcos added.
He then called on his party mates to serve their terms with renewed vigor and strength towards realizing Bagong Pilipinas 'where every individual is empowered with greater opportunities.'
'Let us commit ourselves to a higher level of excellent leadership and be the visionaries, the trailblazers, and changemakers that society calls for and deserves,' he said.
In the May elections, PFP fielded three Senate bets but all of them lost: former Senator and Filipino boxing Hall of Famer Manny Pacquiao, Senator Francis Tolentino and former Secretary Benhur Abalos of the Department of Interior and Local Government. —LDF, GMA Integrated News

DMW issues deployment ban on new hires for Iran, Jordan amid conflict with Israel

The Department of Migrant Workers has implemented a deployment ban on new hires for Iran and Jordan amid ongoing hostilities in the Middle East. 'New hires are prohibited. Returning [Overseas Filipino Workers] are allowed, technically speaking. But they still can't travel because the airspace is closed,' DMW Secretary Hans Cacdac said in a press conference on Thursday. The DMW issued Advisory No. 19 s. 2025 reiterating restrictions in the deployment of OFWs to Israel, Iran, Jordan, and Lebanon. Cacdac advised Jordan-bound OFWs to likewise postpone their trips, given the kingdom shares a common border with Israel. 'The same is true with Jordan-bound OFWs, they are turned back. So we issued an advisory, huwag na kayo pumunta muna. We included that in our advisory to recruitment agencies. Don't send new hires to Jordan because they will just be turned back,' Cacdac added. (Don't go there at this time.) There is an existing deployment ban in Israel in the aftermath of the October 7 Hamas attacks against Israel in 2023. Cacdac warned that non-compliant recruitment agencies will be held liable. 'That's part of our regulatory authority over them. When we speak in a regulatory sense, then they have to comply. And yes, on the cost of travel, we'll have them pay for that,' Cacdac said. As of Thursday, Cacdac said that there are also 58 Filipinos who are either Israel-bound or Jordan-bound but are stranded in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Of the 58, the DMW has been able to arrange a flight for four Israel-bound Filipinos to return to the Philippines via an Etihad flight in Abu Dhabi. 'We have been helping them,' Cacdac said. While it is not within DMW's purview to make recommendations on alert levels that determine whether there should be a mandatory repatriation or a voluntary one, Cacdac said the agency is focused on helping Filipinos in need, regardless of the situation. 'The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) officials are the political and security experts. We honor their leadership at the one country team level so it is the ambassador's call, it is the Secretary of Foreign Affairs' call , and we will always defer to the DFA's judgment,' Cacdac said. Held biannually since 1987, the Vin d'Honneur is an official reception hosted by the President of the Philippines to mark the New Year and Philippine Independence Day. This year's celebration centers on the theme "Kalayaan. Kinabukasan. Kasaysayan." which translates to "Freedom. Future. History." The theme melds history, patriotism, and culture as "a tribute to the legacy of Filipino heroes while inspiring hope for a stronger and more united future." The President and the First Lady led the meaningful reception on June 12, warmly welcoming the members of the diplomatic corps, most of whom donned elegant iterations of Terno created by some of the country's distinguished fashion designers. According to the First Lady, it was a "heartwarming" moment to see the diplomats wear Filipino creations at the Vin d'Honneur. The beauty of Terno Terno refers to a Filipiniana attire traditionally designed with oversized butterfly sleeves. For Vin d'Honneur, Filipino designers brought their A-game in crafting traditional Terno with a modern twist for the members of the diplomatic corps. Francis Libiran dressed Australian Ambassador to the Philippines Hae Kyong Yu in a striking cerulean blue Terno. Per Libiran, the color choice is an ode to "the vast waters that unite our nations." The designer also added an intricate embroidery of native Australian flora and traditional Filipino patterns as a subtle nod to the friendship between the Philippines and Australia. Speaking to GMA News Online, Ambassador Yu said that "she felt like a true Filipina" while wearing a Libiran creation. "I have enjoyed wearing all kinds of Filipiniana in my three years in the Philippines, and I am always drawn to the iconic butterfly sleeves," she said. "To me, they represent the beauty and strength of empowered women," she added. Libiran also created a beautiful ensemble made of Dupioni silk for Romanian Ambassador Raduta Dana Matache. "The embroidery intertwines Romanian lace-inspired motifs with Filipino baroque elements, symbolizing the blending of heritage and mutual respect," said Libiran.
